This master bath remodel is the cat's meow for more than one reason! The materials in the room are soothing and give a nice vintage vibe in keeping with the rest of the home. We completed a kitchen remodel for this client a few years’ ago and were delighted when she contacted us for help with her master bath!
The bathroom was fine but was lacking in interesting design elements, and the shower was very small. We started by eliminating the shower curb which allowed us to enlarge the footprint of the shower all the way to the edge of the bathtub, creating a modified wet room. The shower is pitched toward a linear drain so the water stays in the shower. A glass divider allows for the light from the window to expand into the room, while a freestanding tub adds a spa like feel.
The radiator was removed and both heated flooring and a towel warmer were added to provide heat. Since the unit is on the top floor in a multi-unit building it shares some of the heat from the floors below, so this was a great solution for the space.
The custom vanity includes a spot for storing styling tools and a new built in linen cabinet provides plenty of the storage. The doors at the top of the linen cabinet open to stow away towels and other personal care products, and are lighted to ensure everything is easy to find. The doors below are false doors that disguise a hidden storage area. The hidden storage area features a custom litterbox pull out for the homeowner’s cat! Her kitty enters through the cutout, and the pull out drawer allows for easy clean ups.
The materials in the room – white and gray marble, charcoal blue cabinetry and gold accents – have a vintage vibe in keeping with the rest of the home. Polished nickel fixtures and hardware add sparkle, while colorful artwork adds some life to the space.

It all started with the refrigerator that couldn't be opened without banging against the wall. It's little things like that drive us all crazy a little bit at a time, until...we end up with a new, highly functional kitchen that brings us to happy tears. Such is the journey of this homeowner's short video from a host of dysfunctional annoyances to a daily head shake followed by the words, "I can't believe this is my kitchen!"

This is the second of 3 master bedrooms in the main house. This is another room where the focus was to add contrast in color. The walls were painted in a soft blue to brighten the space and give a nice background to the rich blue and chocolate brown in the bedding.. Reclaimed wood style bed frame and side tables add a more modern look to this very rustic log home. Part of our goal in this project was to add sleeping space. The bunk wall started with 2 captains beds. A custom book case was fabricated to separate the beds and add a head board for each. To give a built in look the beds and the connecting bookcase were painted to match the original white trim. The same bedding was carried over from the king bed to tie the room together.

Located in the residential area of Encino Sandra Costa was called to meet with six Japanese businessmen who spoke little English. The referral to the new build restaurant started with an introduction by her longtime client Stan Lerner. In addition to having Sandra design his ultra-modern state of the art penthouse, Stan hired Sandra to remodel and furnish a 16 story Skyline Condominium property in downtown Los Angeles. The project as he explained would be simple.
“In the main dining room, my vision was for Japan to meet Time Square. The colors of the moving rotating shades were hypnotic. I balanced the glamorous ceiling with a giant onyx slab that resembled an oyster shell. In the entry, I had the giant head carved from Styrofoam.

It's all in the details....The focus of any bedroom starts with the bed, this king bed is outfitted with a full motion memory foam mattress that raises both head or feet and employs in mattress massage for maximum relaxation. Covered in a gorgeous custom silver silk coverlet and shams with soft white fur throws and pillows, the bed is inviting, and stress relief is immediate.

I had an amazing opportunity to partner with Taylor Burke Home, One Kings Lane and Cotton and Quill for the “Style It Challenge” using the Taylor Burke Home X-bench. The timing was perfect; we just finished our master bedroom addition and my closet needed to be amazing.
My head started spinning. I saw brass, black walls, shelves, more brass and I needed a pop of color - a pink velvet bench. We incorporated plumbing pipes, glass shelving units, Taylor Burke Home pendant, Hygge & West wallpaper and a DIY pegboard to make a glamorous, high-end dressing room.

We gave this cookie cutter home some individual character and punch with this modern farmhouse inspired makeover. We started with our signature embossed wall treatment "Velvet Crush" in a modern palette, complementing both the warm plum and grey walls. We added more charm with new lighting, a custom built dinning table & bench, classic head chairs, & modern side chairs. An accent magnetic chalk board wall, vibrant centerpiece, simple settings, and a few mirrors finished off this space.

This couple lived in their colonial home in Burke, Virginia, for more than 20 years. Now that their children were grown and gone, it was time for them to pay more attention to their home. First on their list was to renovate their master bathroom. Tight and dysfunctional is how they described the existing space.
The homeowners always dreamed of having a whirlpool, a large steam shower and a private toilet area. Importantly, they wanted to use the latest products and materials to bring the bathroom into the 21st Century.
Starting with exotic granite and porcelain tile from floor to ceiling, the new design does just that. Then, a highly sophisticated steam shower using granite benches, a heavy glass enclosure, chrome faucets and a rain shower head was installed. Modern body spray heads are embedded in the wall tiles. The shower is complemented by a bubble, jetted whirlpool tub with granite surrounds.
A modern double vanity with vessel sinks, a granite countertop, high end cabinets and stylish faucets rest along one wall. Custom-built, recessed mirrored medicine cabinets provide storage for necessities.
In the end, the homeowners are thrilled with the outcome and never imagined that their old and dark looking small bath could ever be transformed into such beautiful bathroom.

These homeowners are getting married this summer and wanted to make their new home their own starting with the kitchen. They have classy traditional taste and hit the nail on the head with their selections. They went with the Bridgewood American Value Hawthorne mitered cherry door with a rich chestnut stain and then built on that with a gorgeous granite-look HD laminate countertop in the Café Azul color. They topped it all off with a travertine tile backsplash with a mosaic accent strip that tied many of the tones of the space together.

The freestanding bubble jet bathtub which features a remote air turbine, water warming system and back warmer is controlled by an iPhone and wall-mounted controller. No wires or pipes are visible going into the tub - all of that comes up through the bottom of the tub; fully concealed. The turbine is concealed inside the cabinet above the toilet, so all you hear while in the tub are the bubbles!
The open (door-less) shower features a rain head, hand shower and wall-mounted shower head.

This home remodel is a celebration of curves and light. Starting from humble beginnings as a basic builder ranch style house, the design challenge was maximizing natural light throughout and providing the unique contemporary style the client’s craved.
The Entry offers a spectacular first impression and sets the tone with a large skylight and an illuminated curved wall covered in a wavy pattern Porcelanosa tile.
The chic entertaining kitchen was designed to celebrate a public lifestyle and plenty of entertaining. Celebrating height with a robust amount of interior architectural details, this dynamic kitchen still gives one that cozy feeling of home sweet home. The large “L” shaped island accommodates 7 for seating. Large pendants over the kitchen table and sink provide additional task lighting and whimsy. The Dekton “puzzle” countertop connection was designed to aid the transition between the two color countertops and is one of the homeowner’s favorite details. The built-in bistro table provides additional seating and flows easily into the Living Room.
A curved wall in the Living Room showcases a contemporary linear fireplace and tv which is tucked away in a niche. Placing the fireplace and furniture arrangement at an angle allowed for more natural walkway areas that communicated with the exterior doors and the kitchen working areas.
The dining room’s open plan is perfect for small groups and expands easily for larger events. Raising the ceiling created visual interest and bringing the pop of teal from the Kitchen cabinets ties the space together. A built-in buffet provides ample storage and display.
The Sitting Room (also called the Piano room for its previous life as such) is adjacent to the Kitchen and allows for easy conversation between chef and guests. It captures the homeowner’s chic sense of style and joie de vivre.

This bathroom was a 1920's challenge, reshaped into a modern wet room. Truly a bathroom remodeling challenge, the project start with demolition of the existing flooring and wall tiles.

This transformation started with a builder grade bathroom and was expanded into a sauna wet room. With cedar walls and ceiling and a custom cedar bench, the sauna heats the space for a relaxing dry heat experience. The goal of this space was to create a sauna in the secondary bathroom and be as efficient as possible with the space. This bathroom transformed from a standard secondary bathroom to a ergonomic spa without impacting the functionality of the bedroom.
This project was super fun, we were working inside of a guest bedroom, to create a functional, yet expansive bathroom. We started with a standard bathroom layout and by building out into the large guest bedroom that was used as an office, we were able to create enough square footage in the bathroom without detracting from the bedroom aesthetics or function. We worked with the client on her specific requests and put all of the materials into a 3D design to visualize the new space.

The layout of the bathroom needed to change to incorporate the larger wet room/sauna. By expanding the room slightly it gave us the needed space to relocate the toilet, the vanity and the entrance to the bathroom allowing for the wet room to have the full length of the new space.
This bathroom includes a cedar sauna room that is incorporated inside of the shower, the custom cedar bench follows the curvature of the room's new layout and a window was added to allow the natural sunlight to come in from the bedroom. The aromatic properties of the cedar are delightful whether it's being used with the dry sauna heat and also when the shower is steaming the space. In the shower are matching porcelain, marble-look tiles, with architectural texture on the shower walls contrasting with the warm, smooth cedar boards. Also, by increasing the depth of the toilet wall, we were able to create useful towel storage without detracting from the room significantly.
This entire project and client was a joy to work with.
