A back yard with only a small exit for the rain water to drain out. The problem got solved with a rainwater catching system. Rocked drainage swales collect the rainwater from the downspouts and feed an underground basin made of Aquascape Aquabloxes. A natural waterfall at the brush line helps keeping the stored water fresh and adds an accent. Planting beds soften the look of the rocks and hard surfaces, unmaintained areas allow nature to get closer to the house.

Original bath of historic 1904 Home in Franklin, TN gets new look by taking in a large hallway that had been made from the original back porch. The original bath of the home was located on the back porch, accessible through the original kitchen and a back door off the hallway between the kitchen and breakfast rooms. In an earlier remodel, the back porch was taken in to for a hallway leading to a new kitchen addition leaving the original kitchen to become a bedroom. The bathroom was small, there were no closets and no access to the original breakfast room. The new floor plan has solved all of the problems by making the original bath foot print into walk-in closets. Supplying natural light by leaving the original window to the bathroom between the closets and taking in the back hall for the new shower, tub vanities and toilet. Built-in medicine cabinets and storage over the toilet solve storage issues and the original exterior door to the porch was utilized to make the decorative niche over the tub.

Interior Design by others. Our Sackston Prarie Cabana solved the problem of client privacy with its native stone screen walls and stucco accents while providing all of the luxuries of poolside outdoor living. Three 11-feet wide accordion style doors open the cabana entirely to the outdoors to circulate westerly summer winds. Deep overhangs provide shade for summer sun while allowing the sun to permeate the space to utilize the saloon and hot tub during the winter months. Terraced poolside planters with native vegetation complement the design. Although this cabana was constructed after completion of the main residence the material choices seamlessly blend this addition to create one unified outdoor space.

The goal of this master suite remodel was to design a luxurious yet simple environment that was not only beautiful but also comfortable, and designer Lori Wiles brought the transformation to life. The remodel was a transformation of the unused storage area in the bottom level of the clients’ home. Wiles' creative problem solving did more than just hide basement remodel problems like low ductwork and poorly located pipes. Instead, these obstacles served as a source of inspiration for some of the most interesting aspects of her design, such as the angular wood-paneled headboard wall with built-in nightstands. Following a stone, fire, water, and wood theme, the materials used in this master suite strongly relate to nature. Water flows to the tub from the stone accent wall in the bathroom, and an opposing stone wall in the bedroom creates a dramatic backdrop for a seating area. Both walls contain candle-filled niches and Cherry wood is employed throughout, creating warmth and continuity. To further achieve the natural look and feel of the bathroom, Wiles incorporated a variety of stones. The shower and immediate area around the freestanding tub feature pebble accent flooring that complement the surrounding large, rectangular tile floors. Eldorado Stone’s Black River Stacked Stone was chosen because it offered different textures and dimensions of the black, rugged, stacked stone, resulting in an organic environment that provides relief from the flat surfaces. By using quality materials such as Eldorado Stone, designer Lori Wiles was able to create a zen-like space that exceeded her client’s expectations. Inspiration for a 1960s family room remodel in Los Angeles

Craftsman bungalow in Portland, Oregon. This is a classic craftsman home with built in book cases flanking a beautiful wood burning fireplace. It has gorgeous wood crown molding and original wall sconces with new shades. The homeowner wanted a warm relaxing living room to showcase her vast collection of local art. The rooms concept worked around a beloved family arm chair she had reupholstered. Using warm fall colors and a fantastic Tufenkian area rug to ground the room we set off to give her room new life. The inhabitant has a shorter leg length and needed to find a sofa and loveseat that fit her perfectly yet was comfortable for entertaining quests. Splashes of red where incorporated to compliment this room. The round side table is an antique sourced locally. Problems solved and homeowner is incredibly happy in her new space.

We’ve used the core principles of sustainable design and firescaping in this breathtaking garden: permeable hardscape elements, proper grading and infiltration zones that solve the existing drainage problems and absorb the stormwater runoff, a plant palette of predominantly California native plants and an ultra-low water Kurapia lawn, organic soil building, and efficient drip irrigation with a smart timer.

As code begins to require tighter and tighter houses we are locked in with chemicals that are used to build, decorate, furnish and clean our homes. This project was a stab at solving this significant health problem.
