This project enabled the client to stay in a thriving neighborhood that they loved by growing the size their 1836 home to accommodate the needs of a modern family. NEDC accomplished this by razing an existing inadequate second story that housed two bedrooms and constructing one and a half new stories above the existing first floor -- creating a four bedroom + Office/2.5 bath home from a 2 bedroom/1 bath home.

The second floor 1920’s bath was ready for a remodel. With a cracked floor and inadequate subfloor, the bathroom rug was no longer a good “fix”. Keeping the age of the home in mind, white subway tile and a hexagon floor tile were installed. Beautiful fixtures were selected including a new American Standard sink console. Delta Leland series faucet, shower trim, and bath accessories were installed around the room. A beautiful Kohler recessed medicine cabinet was selected for its classic style and for additional storage. While the layout didn’t change, the space was completely transformed for a very classy and simple bath.

As sports fans and parents of young teenagers, it was painfully obvious to this Blaine couple they had inadequate entertainment space in their home. When you’re in lock-down mode, entertainment is pretty important, to say the least. The only question was how to do it safely, within budget, and still get both the functionality and aesthetics they needed.

The master bath had its walls wallpapered, and we removed the plate glass mirrors. The mirrors were replaced by framed mirrors to add a sophisticated look. New lighting fixtures overcame the inadequate lighting, and improved towel bars, hooks, and custom shower draperies were added. The addition of a wall fountain used as a towel holder gave the new bathroom a unique look.

THE SETUP
Once these empty nest homeowners decided to stay put, they knew a new kitchen was in order. Passionate about cooking, entertaining, and hosting holiday gatherings, they found their existing kitchen inadequate. The space, with its traditional style and outdated layout, was far from ideal. They longed for an elegant, timeless kitchen that was not only show-stopping but also functional, seamlessly catering to both their daily routines and special occasions with friends and family. Another key factor was its future appeal to potential buyers, as they’re ready to enjoy their new kitchen while also considering downsizing in the future.

Galley Dresser and Workstation offer impeccable organization and versatility, creating the perfect setup for entertaining with everything easily accessible.
THE RENEWED SPACE
The new kitchen exceeded every expectation, thrilling the clients with its revitalized, expansive design and thoughtful functionality. The transformation brought to life an open space adorned with marble accents, a state-of-the-art steam oven, and the seamless integration of the Galley Dresser, crafting a kitchen not just to be used, but to be cherished. This is more than a culinary space; it’s a new heart of their home, ready to host countless memories and culinary adventures.

The space below a basement staircase often goes to waste. This state-of-the-art wine closet turned this unused space into a connoisseur’s dream.
Wine is one of the few things that can improve with age. But it can also rapidly deteriorate if kept in inadequate conditions. The three factors that have the most direct impact on a wine's condition are light, humidity and temperature. Another consideration is security for expensive wines that often appreciate in value.
The storage area features a cedar panel ceiling, and custom racks and shelves over a granite floor.
The style was carried throughout this total basement remodeling project.

Closet addition replaces previous inadequate sliding-door closet. Inset storage cabinets for vitamins and toiletries flank a new pair of swing doors. A new garden window and center chandelier add glamour and light.

This befre photo captures the essence of storage crisis. It took a lot of design work to add enough storage through the entire space. A focus on interior cabinet storage, large island and taking over the small inadequate laundry area for pantry provided a perfect solution. The railing seperating the kitchen and family room came down and an extension of 1 foot provided another 9 ft of needed storage space.

The client had lived in this house for 30 years with the original builder-grade cabinets, poor lighting, inadequate storage and dated appearance. We built several new cabinets to supplement the old; added oak skins on the unfinished exposed cabinets; installed crown molding and glass tile backsplash.
The old can lights and useless center ceiling light were removed and new LED track lighting installed behind the new crown molding; new under cabinet lights; new glass cabinets with LED lights.

The layout of this early 90’s home was adequate for the husband when he was just living there. However, now the family of three and their loving cat live there together; the space quickly became confined and inadequate. The Clients contacted us to discuss what their options may be to help the home feel more spacious. After a few weeks of design and engineering, we went to work on opening up the first floor to increase the size of the rooms while creating continuity with the adjoining rooms. A once tired and confined layout became a spacious, comfortable, & aesthetically pleasing space to live and entertain.

The renovation was to create a spa retreat for a single mother who wanted a bright and relaxing space with a more storage. Her old bathroom was dark, divided by a wall, and had double sinks she did not need with inadequate storage. All builder grade and original to the home.

Before: The bathroom had a very outdated and worn-out look. The walls were covered in old, yellowing wallpaper, the tiles on the floor and shower were cracked and stained, and the lighting was dim and inadequate. The bathroom lacked storage space, with only a small medicine cabinet above the sink and a tiny shelf next to the toilet. The overall atmosphere of the bathroom was depressing and uninviting.
After: The bathroom has been completely renovated and transformed into a modern and luxurious space. The walls are now painted in a bright, clean white color, with stylish tile work in the shower area. The flooring has been replaced with sleek, gray tiles that complement the white walls perfectly. The lighting has been upgraded, with new fixtures installed that provide ample brightness and warmth.
