The custom built-in book cases display African art, head rests, photos, baskets, books, paintings and other sentimental items, including my first camera - a Canon A1 with slide film, still in working order!

This project is a whole home remodel that is being completed in 2 phases. The first phase included this bathroom remodel. The whole home will maintain the Mid Century styling. The cabinets are stained in Alder Wood. The countertop is Ceasarstone in Pure White. The shower features Kohler Purist Fixtures in Vibrant Modern Brushed Gold finish. The flooring is Large Hexagon Tile from Dal Tile. The decorative tile is Wayfair “Illica” ceramic. The lighting is Mid-Century pendent lights. We were asked to create something really special for one of our most admired clients. This home has been a labor of love for both of us as we finally made it exactly what she wanted it to be. photos by Pedro Marti The owner’s of this apartment had been living in this large working artist’s loft in Tribeca since the 70’s when they occupied the vacated space that had previously been a factory warehouse. Since then the space had been adapted for the husband and wife, both artists, to house their studios as well as living quarters for their growing family. The private areas were previously separated from the studio with a series of custom partition walls. Now that their children had grown and left home they were interested in making some changes. The major change was to take over spaces that were the children’s bedrooms and incorporate them in a new larger open living/kitchen space. The previously enclosed kitchen was enlarged creating a long eat-in counter at the now opened wall that had divided off the living room. The kitchen cabinetry capitalizes on the full height of the space with extra storage at the tops for seldom used items. The overall industrial feel of the loft emphasized by the exposed electrical and plumbing that run below the concrete ceilings was supplemented by a grid of new ceiling fans and industrial spotlights. Antique bubble glass, vintage refrigerator hinges and latches were chosen to accent simple shaker panels on the new kitchen cabinetry, including on the integrated appliances. A unique red industrial wheel faucet was selected to go with the integral black granite farm sink. The white subway tile that pre-existed in the kitchen was continued throughout the enlarged area, previously terminating 5 feet off the ground, it was expanded in a contrasting herringbone pattern to the full 12 foot height of the ceilings. This same tile motif was also used within the updated bathroom on top of a concrete-like porcelain floor tile. The bathroom also features a large white porcelain laundry sink with industrial fittings and a vintage stainless steel medicine display cabinet. Similar vintage stainless steel cabinets are also used in the studio spaces for storage. And finally black iron plumbing pipe and fittings were used in the newly outfitted closets to create hanging storage and shelving to complement the overall industrial feel. Pedro Marti

The layout of this mudroom is long and narrow and divided in half by a doorway. A locker system with 5 individual cubbies, open shelving and drawers holds the families immediate outdoor wear accessories. The cabinets are finished in white melamine and include corner radius shelving, chrome hardware, square raised panel door fronts and large continuous crown molding. The opposite wall has the washer and dryer with cabinets for laundry essentials. There is also a closet for long hang items and mop/broom storage. Inspiration for a large transitional light wood floor and gray floor eat-in kitchen remodel with stainless steel appliances and an island

This is a custom designed and built, built-in (attached to the wall) fish tank cabinet. Basic design comes from the customer, but includes significant adjustments by me. It is made of hardwood plywood with a real walnut veneer, plus solid walnut face frames and open-shelving structure. Cabinet above the tank is for lighting but also includes a narrow shelf in back for mounting certain tank-related items. There is a large opening connecting the center base cabinet with the right-side cabinet.

Of course, what is a luxurious master bathroom without a luxurious walk-in closet to go along with it! Our client wanted an extra-large space to house her clothing and provide extra storage space for additional items. Our team was sure to include plenty of hanging racks, drawers, and shelving to meet our client’s needs.
