We designed an extended patio cover to include a Fire Feature with additional seating and dining room for our client’s lovely stucco home.
Projecting outward at an obtuse angle, the entertaining patio provides ample seating options for many to gather around the wood-burning fireplace. This 42” stainless steel fireplace includes a gas log lighter for added convenience! Attention-drawing, it also features an extended hearth.
The client requested an Extensive Electrical package including a 50” HDTV mounted above the fireplace with Bose Flushmount Sound System to provide optimal sound throughout the outdoor living room. Recessed lighting, nestled in the elegant Tongue and Groove ceiling, illuminates the patio while the flood lights on the surrounding exterior highlight the Complete Landscaping package in the lawn.
Completing this outdoor living room, stamped concrete perfects this space with a beautiful, bright pattern to complement the existing stucco finishes. Though this project is an add-on, the stucco texture, paint, and trim look utterly original to the home!

The focal point of the space is both the free standing club foot tub and the shower. The client had the tub custom painted. I designed the shower to accommodate two people with his and her sides. The linen tower was removed to free up space for the new water closet and shower. Each vanity was created to maximize space, so drawers were included in the middle portion of the cabinet. There is porcelain tile from floor to ceiling in the entire space for easy maintenance. Chrome was used as accents throughout the space as seen in the sinks, faucets and other fixtures. A wall of tile in the shower acts a focal point on the opposite end of the room.

This beautiful modern farmhouse kitchen includes custom shaker style cabinets complete with an accent kitchen island in the middle. The countertops are marble and quartz. The quartz countertop is made to look like concrete, but is much more durable and easy to clean.
The sink is a granite undermount with a large faucet and water dispenser. Above is recessed lighting inset into tongue and groove ceiling painted in a white to simulate a farmhouse feel. The flooring is wood plank ceramic tile. This interesting lake house is finished off with exposed ducting at the highest point of the ceiling, which saves money by not having to run ducting throughout the home.

The clients for this house, descendants of a timber farming family, wanted a weekend house on their property in the Piney Woods. They imagined spending weekends and holidays year-round in a house suitable for three generations at once, including aging parents and children side-by-side.
The house, taking clues from the historic 'dogtrot' prototype, sets two bars (a two-story bedroom wing and a one-story living wing) straddling an open porch that buffers rowdiness at night and accommodates everyone for meals and games around the clock.
The porch is high, screened and louvered for breezes and against the sun in the summer, with operable translucent panels on the north side that close to deflect winter winds. The house, sited along the verge of the woods and the pasture, recalls the structure of the trees in its design while letting in filtered light (as in the woods) to interior spaces.
The house was the cover article for the "TexasArchitect" issue on East Texas. I have sense designed a renovation for the owners mid-century modern house in the city.

This project included a Patio Cover Addition, Outdoor Kitchen, Gas-Burning Fireplace, and Stamped Concrete walking surface with a custom pattern. The attention is immediately drawn to the Ledgestone fire place with a rustic cedar mantel. The Ledgestone flows continuously throughout the space, found on the base of the patio columns and outdoor kitchen. The kitchen sparkles with Stainless Steel appliances, containing storage compartments, refrigerator, and grill. Topped with Venetian Gold Granite, this cooking space provides ample counter space that is easily maintained. The overall appeal of this Outdoor Living area remains beautifully traditional, with cedar-trimmed columns and beams. Also, though it has custom features, this addition is built to look original to the home with matching paint, shingles, gutters, and framing materials. The elaborate, pre-stained Tongue and Groove ceiling is quite an attractive feature to this patio cover, and the recessed lighting illuminates the evening. The fans provide adequate air-flow and the sound system keeps the patio atmosphere in tune.

Front entry walk and custom entry courtyard gate leads to a courtyard bridge and the main two-story entry foyer beyond. Privacy courtyard walls are located on each side of the entry gate. They are clad with Texas Lueders stone and stucco, and capped with standing seam metal roofs. Custom-made ceramic sconce lights and recessed step lights illuminate the way in the evening. Elsewhere, the exterior integrates an Engawa breezeway around the perimeter of the home, connecting it to the surrounding landscaping and other exterior living areas. The Engawa is shaded, along with the exterior wall’s windows and doors, with a continuous wall mounted awning. The deep Kirizuma styled roof gables are supported by steel end-capped wood beams cantilevered from the inside to beyond the roof’s overhangs. Simple materials were used at the roofs to include tiles at the main roof; metal panels at the walkways, awnings and cabana; and stained and painted wood at the soffits and overhangs. Elsewhere, Texas Lueders stone and stucco were used at the exterior walls, courtyard walls and columns.

Home Outside replaced the water-guzzling lawn with modern concrete patios and stepper walkways, set in a sea of walkable gravel. Structural drought-tolerant plantings define areas, accented by shade trees to make the outdoor living space a fun, beautiful, and cozy place to hang out all year round. Deliverables included a conceptual landscape design and 3D views to help client visualize end result.

This Fort Worth residence, originally built in 1983, was reimagined for homeowners who wanted to remain in a home they loved while elevating it for the way they live today. Designed and built by USI Design & Remodeling, the project unfolded in three phases over an 8yr period, beginning with a complete primary bath reconfiguration that removed an oversized corner tub, reset the toilet location, and created a larger shower, improved circulation, and dedicated his-and-hers storage.
The second and third phases expanded the soft contemporary design language throughout the home, including a second primary-level bath, kitchen, breakfast area, family room, laundry, dining spaces, flooring, doors, trim, cabinetry, and architectural detailing. Natural stone, maple millwork, curated lighting, garden views, and gallery-like focal points were used to create a cohesive interior that feels lighter, more personal, and more refined while honoring the home’s original character.

This "rustic contemporary" home was featured in Ft. Worth Magazine's 2020 Dream Street. The ultra modern wine racking elements include smoked acrylic individual wine bottle cradles suspended with black metal vertical supports and high-gloss patterned wall panels. The label forward configuration adds to the functionality of the space. State-of-the-art wine cellar refrigeration and a frameless glass enclosure complete the room. Central to the primary entertaining space, the wine cellar will be a warm welcome for the future homeowners' many lucky guests!
