This industrial staircase rises through the heart of the home, taking center stage as an anchoring sculptural piece. The light gray treads pair flawlessly with the dark metal railings to create a refined contrast while complementing the exposed structural steel beams throughout the home. The open risers amplify the sense of volume, allowing the staircase to feel integrated rather than intrusive. The result is functional art that elevates everyday movement into an architectural experience.

The brilliant design project involved creating a seamless connection between the serene courtyard and the elegant dining room. To ensure uninterrupted views of the backyard from the dining room, pergola risers were skillfully integrated. By elevating the pergola height and anchoring it to the home's pass-through bar window with the sturdy R-BLADE™ frame, a remarkable visual flow was achieved. The opposite end of the pergola was cleverly affixed to the out-build atop the risers, eliminating the need for intrusive support columns. This ingenious layout beautifully preserved the panoramic sightlines around the patio, resulting in a stunning and harmonious space.

6 ¼” Aged Pewter Cedarmill James HardiePlank, complimented by copper drip caps on all trim. Windows are cased with an oversized flat stock, historic sills and crown mouldings. The corners are 11 ¼” PVC overlayed with a panel and rail design. The door casings on the home are all built out custom casings with custom crown moulding and various size mantel designs. The chimney corners are woven to minimize the otherwise intrusive and overpowering chimney.

This roof was only 17 years old but already showing significant signs of failure. The original builder-grade shingles had begun to deteriorate prematurely, with visible curling, granule loss, and several active leaks. Poor ventilation and improper flashing details contributed to moisture intrusion in multiple areas of the home. The homeowner reached out to us after noticing water spots on interior ceilings and missing shingles after a recent storm.

This modern home, near Cedar Lake, built in 1900, was originally a corner store. A massive conversion transformed the home into a spacious, multi-level residence in the 1990’s.
However, the home’s lot was unusually steep and overgrown with vegetation. In addition, there were concerns about soil erosion and water intrusion to the house. The homeowners wanted to resolve these issues and create a much more useable outdoor area for family and pets.
Castle, in conjunction with Field Outdoor Spaces, designed and built a large deck area in the back yard of the home, which includes a detached screen porch and a bar & grill area under a cedar pergola.
The previous, small deck was demolished and the sliding door replaced with a window. A new glass sliding door was inserted along a perpendicular wall to connect the home’s interior kitchen to the backyard oasis.
The screen house doors are made from six custom screen panels, attached to a top mount, soft-close track. Inside the screen porch, a patio heater allows the family to enjoy this space much of the year.
Concrete was the material chosen for the outdoor countertops, to ensure it lasts several years in Minnesota’s always-changing climate.
Trex decking was used throughout, along with red cedar porch, pergola and privacy lattice detailing.
The front entry of the home was also updated to include a large, open porch with access to the newly landscaped yard. Cable railings from Loftus Iron add to the contemporary style of the home, including a gate feature at the top of the front steps to contain the family pets when they’re let out into the yard.

We took an outdated kitchen that was enclosed and shrunken by multiple bulky closets, updated it and opened it up by removing the closet intrusions and expanded the doorway and window to the expansive view of the river and pool area outside. We added lots of storage while taking away a lot of bulk.

New pool enclosure fence with new perennial plantings surround renovated pool. Granite pavers were installed around 25 year old existing pool.

Infusing this once, drab 80’s kitchen with light and color was one goal in this extensive remodel. By removing the wall separating the dining room from the kitchen, the space doubled in size and allowed natural light to flood it.
Creating a design that filled the space yet remained very functional to the homeowner was extremely important. By implementing the two working triangles, one homeowner can be using the sink, cooktop and refrigerator while the other uses the secondary island for food prep as it has an additional sink.
A large soffit housing HVAC runs through the middle of the townhome and seemed intrusive to the space at first. After embracing it in the design, it’s as if it were meant to be. Three aluminum framed cabinets hang below, one directly underneath the soffit to create an asymmetrical design.
On a budget but still wanting a beautiful design, Crystal’s semi-custom line of cabinetry came into play. Simply White and Light Grey provide the perfect backdrop for natural maple, brushed gold hardware and accessories that infuse the space with color. Inside the cabinetry, the best storage solutions make for an extremely functional kitchen!
What a dream it is to have a kitchen that boasts quality, functionality and makes a person feel inspired within it.

Customer had Solar Pool Panels that were damaged in a wind storm creating a water intrusion in 2 areas. We removed the tile, removed underlayment, replaced wood deck. We then applied bull, two layers of underlayment, and re installed the roof tiles.
Once done, we had our interior repair specialist go in and replace the affected drywall, a bathroom mirror, re texture the ceilings, and paint.

Dan had a concrete driveway that was cracking and coming apart. We removed that eyesore and constructed a 2300 sq ft Driveway comprised of Belgard Cambridge Cobble Pavers in a 2 piece muster K pattern. We were able to widen the driveway and add curves not present prior to construction. We also widened and added walkways to each side of his front entry staircase. In the rear of the driveway area we built a retaining wall to help support that end of the driveway and encourage drainage to a location suitable to flow into the intercostal waterway. Once completed we added the natural stone stripper edging to highlight the natural areas and to deter vehicle intrusion into the areas. In the backyard we overlaid st Augustine grass because of the shaded spots and we repaired a retaining wall and step down along side the pool. We also installed a drain for the outdoor shower.

Located in the neighborhood of Koum Kapi, an area with mostly small plots and low-rise buildings, one of the main goals was to break down the building by introducing geometric volumes. The building consists of two orthogonal shaped volumes, gray and white, separated by the central stairwell, with four levels and a Pilotis with a total of 7 apartments. The gray volume sitting at the center, reaches the maximum height, while the white one, facing west, offers spacious balconies and intrusions for protection from the sun and the prevailing winds during winter. The Pilotis accommodates the lobby and two parking spaces, and provides access to the backyard. At the main entrance, the vegetation extends into the building in order to increase the planted area of the plot.
