Designed by Lauren Hunt of Reico Kitchen & Bath in Charlotte, NC, this contemporary style kitchen features Ultracraft cabinets in the Acrilux door style in two finishes. The kitchen base cabinets feature an Ultralux Pure White High Gloss finish and the wall cabinets an Ultralux Midnight High Gloss finish. The kitchen countertops are Cambria Portrush and feature a waterfall edge design on each end of the island.
“I love this kitchen,” said Hunt. “Contemporary finishes like acrylics are extremely challenging to work with and can be very unforgiving, but with great risk comes great reward – and this finished project was definitely rewarding.”
“The clients were so fun to work with, and there wasn’t a single aspect of this design that they weren’t involved with. They love to cook, so it was extremely important that the kitchen functioned well with both of them working together while making the most of their storage space.”

The project involved a spacious 900 sq. ft. master suite addition, complemented by an expanded kitchen and dining area. What began as a simple addition evolved into a complete home remodel, including a guest bathroom and adjacent his-and-her offices.
The design vision centered on clean, modern lines combined with warm, earthy tones and natural materials.
In the kitchen, the absence of upper cabinets creates a minimalist feel, with sleek floating shelves illuminated by built-in LED lights. The hood was integrated into the ceiling/wall, finished with drywall and plaster to seamlessly blend into the space, making it almost invisible. A semi-transparent barn door conceals the bar and laundry area, which were thoughtfully incorporated into the kitchen design.
The master suite features a spacious bathroom with custom details, including a floating vanity designed to exact specifications. The 4” thick waterfall countertop wraps around the vanity for a refined look. The mirrors, also functional as storage, feature hidden medicine cabinets built directly into the wall.
The bathroom floor is lined with warm beige tiles, complemented by 3D peach-colored tiles in the shower and vanity wall, adding texture and warmth to the space. An elegant architectural light fixture, positioned between the two mirrors, enhances the overall ambiance.

Ever heard some say “It has good bones?” Well, no one had ever said that about this house; it needed a major overhaul - “A TOTAL GUT.”
It’s saving grace was:
1. It’s enthusiastic new homeowners.
2. The expansive and gorgeous views of Okanagan Lake.
We were asked to assist our clients with big-picture-planning for their newest investment property.
Upon initial walk through of the home, it was immediately evident there were many previous ‘bandaid-type’ updates that it had gone through over the years.
This house was in prime need of an overhaul inside and out:
- multiple dropped Ceilings with layers of Plumbing add ons
- wall to wall Carpet
-a tired Bathtub directly inside the Master Bedroom
- a “dreaded” Corner Kitchen Sink
-multiple add ons involving three confusing front entry doors
Discovering what was previously done and the quandary of why these things were done is always so interesting to discover and can be very overwhelming for clients.
A big part of what we love most about Design is helping to propose new ideas to revitalize and improve all that has come before. It is one of the most challenging and rewarding parts of our work.
Our Renovation Strategy began in Layout Design for optimizing Interior & Exterior flow, moving into Concept & Style Planning, Millwork and Finish Selections.
We then created an ordered implementation sequence which would allow the homeowners to live on one floor while the other was being renovated Later they would move to the finished floor and renovate the remaining areas.
Once complete, the home quickly sold and we look forwards to assisting these happy investors on their next endeavour.

This kitchen involved taking two large support poles out and adding an LVL header system in order to open up the space and allow for a large entertaining island.

We maintained the home's original footprint and renovated according to the client's wishes to have an "Old English" style home. This involved adding trim and stain, utilized rod iron, changing the tile flooring out for wood etc. The end result was beautiful.

This kitchen remodel involved removing a closet that separated the kitchen and living room. Opening up the kitchen allowed for a larger tall pantry cabinet next to the stainless steel refrigerator. The kitchen cabinets have a shaker door style and are painted white with a pewter glaze. The perimeter counter top is Cambria quartz with a blue and white, linear, glass mosaic tile backsplash, while the island counter top is a custom concrete slab. Stainless steel appliances run throughout the space, along with an undermount, stainless steel sink and Delta Allora brilliance stainless, high arc, pull down kitchen faucet. The dark wood stained hardwood floors run throughout the space. The circular, contemporary, glass mini-pendant lights hang over the island.

An interior renovation of the historic Phelps-Hopkins house in the quaint river town of Newburgh, Indiana. This project involved the conversion of the original butler's quarters into a new modern kitchen that was sensitive to the existing historical features of the home. The kitchen features a monumental island with Carrera marble countertops and a custom range hood.

Another aspect of this Family Home Update involved gutting the Kitchen, making the layout more efficient, expanding the island, updating the custom cabinets and taking them all the way to the ceiling, and installing new appliances, countertops, backsplash and fixtures. The newly refinished floors look amazing against the new rich wood cabinet stain. The slate and ledge-stone backsplash brings the outdoors in. The island provides lots of prep space and is large enough to accommodate 4 leather saddle seat barstools.

Nancy Knickerbocker of Reico Kitchen and Bath in Southern Pines, NC worked with Tod Reid to design a kitchen featuring Merillat Classic and Masterpiece Cabinetry.
The kitchen includes Merillat Classic cabinets in the Ralston door style with a Mist finish on the wall cabinets and a Dusk finish for the base, island, and pantry cabinets. The window seat cabinetry features Masterpiece cabinets in the Rockwell door style with a Slate finish.
The kitchen design also incorporates Silestone Pearl Jasmine countertops, 12x14 Odine Silver floor tiles, 4x12 Metro White backsplash tiles, KitchenAid appliances, and a Whirlpool hood.
Nancy explained that the project involved updating the kitchen and widening the opening to the family room. "They wanted to improve the work area and provide seating at the island. Previously, there was a table at the bay window. We built a window seat below the bay window and relocated all appliances. Installing the range on the diagonal allowed for workspace on both sides. The island was designed to not impede the walkway from the hall door. The microwave drawer enabled us to add a range hood and a unique tile backsplash."
“The homeowners also wanted to incorporate a "watering station" for their dogs, so a drain was added near the water bowls. "I especially like the watering station; it's the first I've added to a kitchen remodel but probably won't be the last!" said Nancy.

This kitchen renovation was part of a whole house project that involved the entire first floor, including the mud room, and an upstairs and downstairs bathroom. Our primary aim was to make the kitchen the main focal point of the house, and take advantage of the natural light in the back. To do this we removed the partition wall, and all the elements of the back mud room. Existing exterior doors were replaced and this significantly helped bring in the natural light and make the entrance 1st floor more inviting. Our clients opted for Shaker White cabinetry with accented black finishes and an industrial glass styled backsplash.
We improved the comfort of the space with spray foam insulation that included space heating in the mudroom and heated floors in the kitchen. The sink was also moved to the peninsula to free up countertop space and allow for a better work triangular arrangement.
Our favourite is the new RED FRONT DOOR! We love it…

This project involved a complete remodel of the kitchen, guest, and master bathrooms. The updates feature new wood-finished cabinets with recessed panel doors, sleek white quartz countertops with a full backsplash, and a fresh push-in tub with gray tile in the guest bathroom. In the master bathroom, a new walk-in shower was installed to enhance both style and functionality.

This project involved combining an existing kitchen, dining room, walk-in pantry and closet into one large eat-in kitchen. The customer wanted a mix of contemporary cabinets on a rustic floor for an overall industrial feel, and functionality was very important.
Cabinets are from Thomasville, and are all maple. The base door style is "Blythe" and the color is graphite, while the upper door style is "Eden" in white.
The main countertop is Ashen White granite, and the island is Carrara marble.
The floor tile is from M.S. International's "Salvage" series of 6"x40" wood-look porcelain, and the color is Brown. The backsplash is a 3"x6" white gloss subway tile from Daltile, offset with charcoal grout.
