The master bedroom contains generous storage with built-in wardrobes. The bespoke wardrobes have been designed in a textured laminate and timber veneer and include carefully apportioned storage for long and short hanging, shoes, jumpers, shirts and jackets as well as space for a TV. This high-gloss white cabinetry in the pool house is lockers for storage while swimming, to hang dry your swimsuits and towels. Top cabinets with lift-up hinges allows for beautiful displays with lighting and mirror backing. The bench seating has slide-out sandal organization, and a tall cabinet for hanging jackets in the off-season.

In Old Town Alexandria, homeowners of a beautiful historic home built a colonial garden on an adjacent corner lot. They had vision and patience. The lot was home to a 1920’s stucco-covered storefront with eight garage bays, which included a delicatessen and drycleaners. The process of building the garden took three years from start to finish, including Old and Historic Alexandria Board of Architecture Review approval, re-routing utility lines, a grading plan, and an archaeological dig. Once a Civil War encampment, the homeowners found two privys; dozens of clay marbles and pipes and whiskey bottles; Union officer jacket buttons; and underwear “presser” buttons during a pre-renovation archaeological dig. Milk glass eggs once used to encourage chickens to lay eggs and barrel chimneys from a meat packing plant on the river were also uncovered. The homeowners kept the property distinct from their own lot and first added separate electric and water lines underground. Utilities on the side of the house were also brought underground or low-to-ground as the home’s façade could now be made beautiful for public view. The brick walkway adjacent to the house was re-laid. Inspired by a Mount Vernon barn, the homeowners selected an “old-looking” oversized brick handmade by a Carolina brick company to build the garden paths. Photography by Greg Hadley

While the beauty of this clients’ kitchen lies in its individuality, some key features run through various successful kitchen designs. Every essential feature satisfied both functional and ascetically pleasing needs of the client. Starting from a broken up home with its defined kitchen, dining room, informal living room and home bar, we reinvented the first floor into a flexible living space. This Transitional kitchen has an open-plan, featuring distinct zones for cooking, eating and lounging, an Island unit that penetrates into the dinning and bar zone creating a subtle boundary in the entire room. The principles of maximizing light and space combined with creating a generous amount of storage space and a balance of transparent, opaque and reflective materials guided the design of the new space. Granite countertops meeting marble tile backsplash wrapping around picture windows helped to bounce lights around the room. The off white cabinets with Burnt Sienna glazing, gave a warm contrast throughout the entire room, the show stopping glass large pendant lights over the island captured modern essence. Full basement renovation including, electric plumbing, insulation, surround sound, flooring, storage for kids and adults for jackets - bags and more, entertainment rooms, bathrooms, bars, fireplaces, laundry room, guest bedroom etc.

This Toronto home was in need of an update in order to cater to this growing family’s needs. Creating storage was the key factor in this redesign, so we focused on implementing stylish storage solutions throughout the living area and entryway. To do so, we added a new fireplace with custom millwork on either side with drawers for kids storage as well as floating shelving for books and decor. In the entryway, we created a stylish mudroom area, complete with hooks for hats, jackets, and backpacks, as well as a shoe rack, drawers, and cabinets — the home now offers plenty of storage space that will keep the interior clean, decluttered, and organized!
