Our clients were looking for a mudroom locker for the room off of the garage. They had a few specifics and dimension criteria for the locker. Drawer storage on the bottom for shoes and sports equipment. Individual enclosed lockers for coats and jackets. Cubbies on the top for mittens, hats, and etc. Side pantry cabinet for extra storage. This mudroom locker cabinet is constructed of maple and finished in white.

Before excavation began, the homeowners contacted Alexandria Archaelogy to register the property as a Civil War site. There was no development on the land in the 1790’s, and soldiers used the land as an encampment. Two privys; dozens of clay marbles and pipes and whiskey bottles; Union officer jacket buttons; and underwear “presser” buttons were among the many small discoveries in the surface material. Milk glass eggs once used to encourage chickens to lay eggs and barrel chimneys from a meat packing plant on the river were also uncovered. The garden shed has shelves of glass bottles found during the garden excavation and a “booze block” that covers the sink to give the gardener more surface space to work when not using the tap. A fun updated to a once dated basement. We renovated this client’s basement to be the perfect play area for their children as well as a chic gathering place for their friends and family. In order to accomplish this, we needed to ensure plenty of storage and seating. Some of the first elements we installed were large cabinets throughout the basement as well as a large banquette, perfect for hiding children’s toys as well as offering ample seating for their guests. Next, to brighten up the space in colors both children and adults would find pleasing, we added a textured blue accent wall and painted the cabinetry a pale green. Upstairs, we renovated the bathroom to be a kid-friendly space by replacing the stand-up shower with a full bath. The natural stone wall adds warmth to the space and creates a visually pleasing contrast of design. Lastly, we designed an organized and practical mudroom, creating a perfect place for the whole family to store jackets, shoes, backpacks, and purses.
