This lovely home features an open concept space with the kitchen at its heart. Built in the late 1990's the prior kitchen was cherry, but dark, and the new family needed a fresh update. The back of the raised counter shown here is supported by custom corbels with room for four stools.The center section features and oval wood-topped table with banquette bench seating on two sides. Six can sit on the benches, chairs at the end add two more places... There is plenty of room for the family of five... even with the children's friends or team-mates dropping by; room for 12 if you are keeping count. The show-stopping coffered ceiling was custom designed and features a highlighted central area in a circular design. It's painted in the center section but the outside portions have beaded boards, recessed can lighting and dramatic crown molding. The prior cherry kitchen with Corian counters and appliances was re-invented as a entertainment/auxiliary kitchen in the lower level of the house. The kitchen flow was helped by the addition of an island, with hardworking Caesarstone countertops in Pebble give the warm feel of concrete. Who loves a bright kitchen? New Mood Design’s client’s open kitchen is located at one end of a spacious family room where large windows overlook the outdoor pool deck. Benjamin Moore’s “Collingwood” for walls/ceilings is a warm white with a hint of orange, chosen to harmonize with the Texas Limestone's cream and orange hues, dominant in the home. New Mood Design loves using pops of color to energize a neutral space so we designed our client’s built-in breakfast banquette in a red “Tangelo” leatherette fabric. The kitchen design features Merillat Classic kitchen cabinets in Portrait door style with 5 piece drawer head in 2 finishes. The wall cabinets features a painted white Cotton finish and the base cabinets feature a painted grey Graphite finish. Kitchen countertops are engineered quartz in the color Carrera Marmi from Q by MSI. The kitchen also features a stunning blue herringbone tile back splash with 3x10 tiles. According to the client, "Akram solved a fundamental function problem that I could not see a solution for. His re-imagining of how the main floor of our home could function was a dramatic shift that I can't wait to experience as part of day-to-day life. Inspiration for a country kitchen remodel in Baltimore

We said good-bye to an outdated 60's ranch home kitchen that was closed off and dark. By removing the wall between the kitchen and small eating area we were able to expand the footprint of the kitchen and create a large island with comfortable seating for four. The kitchen is now open to the living and dining room to create the open plan that works perfectly for our clients that love to entertain.

With two elementary school age kids and a dog, this clients' kitchen was understandably full of commotion at all times. In the old kitchen configuration, the standard table and chairs didn't allow enough seating to include guests during casual get-togethers with other families (where the dining room was too formal of a choice). This built-in banquette was the perfect answer. The bench cabinetry itself is Shaker in style, but we used contemporary fabric with a big print to make it more hip. Under each seat there are deep, full-extension drawers which provide much needed storage for the kids toys and other bulky items.
