Inspiration for a large modern light wood floor kitchen/dining room combo remodel in Boston

In the kitchen we changed the range wall to create the 17 ft. site line from the kitchen entrance to the terrace windows. We designed a great bay for entertaining with a perfect triangle configuration for prep and clean-up. We also combined stainless steel cabinetry in the critical wet area between the Wolf Range, Liebherr refrigerator, and wet side, including a double Franke sink, KWC faucet, Bosch Dishwasher and Wine Cooler. Dark gray distressed dark gray porcelain floors bring sophisticated contrast.

This transitional kitchen design in Yorba Linda utilizes the large available space to create a great room that is sure to be the center of family and social life in this home. The open plan set up incorporates the kitchen, a breakfast/eating area, and the living room. To make this area bigger and allow the owners to enlarge the kitchen, we moved the dining room outside to a heated and covered patio. The design features Wood-Mode’s Brookhaven semi-custom cabinets, along with Hafele chef’s pantry interiors, accented by Top Knobs hardware. The custom metal Vent-a-Hood is a focal point in the kitchen design, immediately drawing the eye toward the cooking area with a Sub-Zero refrigerator and a Wolf oven and range. The large island in the cooking area includes a a Grothouse Wood Countertop. The cleaning zone incorporates two Miele dishwashers adjacent to a second large island that offers more work space. Franke sinks and KWC faucets fit neatly into both the cooking and cleaning zones. The design also includes an ice maker, custom banquet, and custom table.

The homeowners desired an open concept kitchen with a clean look. This look was achieved with stock lacquer frameless cabinets with built-ins pulls from Hanssem Cabinets. To bring light into the space, the kitchen was outfitted with Xenon under-cabinet lights and recessed lights in the soffit above breakfast bar. To complete the look, the homeowners opted for Caesarstone counters and glass mosaic backsplash from The Tile Store. New stainless appliances and a stylish KWC faucet added visual highlights to the design.

The kitchen has hard trowel plaster walls and ceiling with concrete floors. The full height cabinets are white oak veneer; the countertops and wrap around bar top are honed limestone. There are Wolf/Subzero appliances throughout; undermount stainless steel sink and KWC faucet.
