The client wished to combine the existing his and her walk-in closets into one refined dressing area— with certain items in plain view, and others tucked neatly out-of-sight. Modern cabinetry and shelving in gray-brown laminate provide ample storage for the gentlemen’s shoes and hats; lit closet rods illuminate the space for aging eyes, making choosing between shirts and slacks a breeze. Bright laundry room with a rustic touch. Distressed wood countertop with storage above. Industrial looking pipe was install overhead to hang laundry. We used the timber frame of a century old barn to build this rustic modern house. The barn was dismantled, and reassembled on site. Needing a refresh for their media room, clients in this Santa Barbara style home opted for a custom mix of contemporary and classic. For comfortable seating, we refurbished a rare mid-century lounge chair from Brazil, upholstered a slope-arm sofa in laundered linen, and created a custom ottoman from a vintage kilim rug. We established our palette with a traditional rug in ocean tones, adding modern ceramics and hand-woven textile accents to add warmth and patina.
