In 2014, we were approached by a couple to achieve a dream space within their existing home. They wanted to expand their existing bar, wine, and cigar storage into a new one-of-a-kind room. Proud of their Italian heritage, they also wanted to bring an “old-world” feel into this project to be reminded of the unique character they experienced in Italian cellars. The dramatic tone of the space revolves around the signature piece of the project; a custom milled stone spiral stair that provides access from the first floor to the entry of the room. This stair tower features stone walls, custom iron handrails and spindles, and dry-laid milled stone treads and riser blocks. Once down the staircase, the entry to the cellar is through a French door assembly. The interior of the room is clad with stone veneer on the walls and a brick barrel vault ceiling. The natural stone and brick color bring in the cellar feel the client was looking for, while the rustic alder beams, flooring, and cabinetry help provide warmth. The entry door sequence is repeated along both walls in the room to provide rhythm in each ceiling barrel vault. These French doors also act as wine and cigar storage. To allow for ample cigar storage, a fully custom walk-in humidor was designed opposite the entry doors. The room is controlled by a fully concealed, state-of-the-art HVAC smoke eater system that allows for cigar enjoyment without any odor.

This spacious laundry room is conveniently tucked away behind the kitchen. Location and layout were specifically designed to provide high function and access while "hiding" the laundry room so you almost don't even know it's there. Design solutions focused on capturing the use of natural light in the room and capitalizing on the great view to the garden. Slate tiles run through this area and the mud room adjacent so that the dogs can have a space to shake off just inside the door from the dog run. The white cabinetry is understated full overlay with a recessed panel while the interior doors have a rich big bolection molding creating a quality feel with an understated beach vibe. One of my favorite details here is the window surround and the integration into the cabinetry and tile backsplash. We used 1x4 trim around the window , but accented it with a Cambria backsplash. The crown from the cabinetry finishes off the top of the 1x trim to the inside corner of the wall and provides a termination point for the backsplash tile on both sides of the window. This is a mid-sized galley style laundry room with custom paint grade cabinets. These cabinets feature a beaded inset construction method with a high gloss sheen on the painted finish. We also included a rolling ladder for easy access to upper level storage areas.

This laundry room was created by removing the existing bathroom and bedroom closet. Medallion Designer Series maple full overlay cabinet’s in the Potters Mill door style with Harbor Mist painted finish was installed. Formica Laminate Concrete Stone with a bull edge and single bowl Kurran undermount stainless steel sink with a chrome Moen faucet. Boulder Terra Linear Blend tile was used for the backsplash and washer outlet box cover. On the floor 12x24 Mediterranean Essence tile in Bronze finish was installed. A Bosch washer & dryer were also installed.
