Enter the residence and step into a dramatic atrium Living Room with 22’ floor to ceiling windows, overlooking expansive grounds. At the heart of the house is a spacious gourmet kitchen featuring Italian made cabinetry with an ancillary catering kitchen. There are two master bedrooms, one at each end of the house and an additional three generously sized bedrooms each with en suite baths. There is a 1,200 sq ft. guest cottage to complete the compound. A progressive sensibility merges with city sophistication in a pristine country setting. Truly special.

These clients were such a joy to work with and made what, at times, was a challenging job feel seamless. This project consisted of two phases, the first being a reconfiguration and update of their master bathroom, guest bathroom, and hallway closets, and the second a kitchen remodel. In keeping with the style of the home, we decided to run with what we called “traditional with farmhouse charm” – warm wood tones, cement tile, traditional patterns, and you can’t forget the pops of color! The master bathroom airs on the masculine side with a mostly black, white, and wood color palette, while the powder room is very feminine with pastel colors. When the bathroom projects were wrapped, it didn’t take long before we moved on to the kitchen. The kitchen already had a nice flow, so we didn’t need to move any plumbing or appliances. Instead, we just gave it the facelift it deserved! We wanted to continue the farmhouse charm and landed on a gorgeous terracotta and ceramic hand-painted tile for the backsplash, concrete look-alike quartz countertops, and two-toned cabinets while keeping the existing hardwood floors. We also removed some upper cabinets that blocked the view from the kitchen into the dining and living room area, resulting in a coveted open concept floor plan. Our clients have always loved to entertain, but now with the remodel complete, they are hosting more than ever, enjoying every second they have in their home.

The goal of this project was to update the outdated master bathroom to better meet the homeowners design tastes and the style of the rest of this foothills home, as well as update all the doors on the first floor, and create a contemporary mud room and staircase to the basement. The homeowners wanted a master suite that had a masculine feel, incorporated elements of black steel, wood, and contrast with clean white tiles and counter-tops and helped their long and skinny layout feel larger/ make better use of the space they have. They also wanted a more spacious and luxurious shower with water temperature control. A large window that existed above the original soaking tub offered spectacular views down into Boulder valley and it was important to keep this element in the updated design. However, privacy was also very important. Therefore, a custom-built powder coated steel shelf, was created to provide privacy blocking, add storage, and add a contrasting design element to the white wall tiles. Black honeycomb floor tiles, new black walnut cabinetry, contemporary wall paper, a floor to ceiling glass shower wall, and updated fixtures elevated the space and gave the clients exactly the look and feel that they wanted. Unique custom metal design elements can be found throughout the new spaces (shower, mud room bench and shelving, and staircase railings and guardrails), and give this home the contemporary feel that the homeowners desired.

The homeowners had just purchased this home in El Segundo and they had remodeled the kitchen and one of the bathrooms on their own. However, they had more work to do. They felt that the rest of the project was too big and complex to tackle on their own and so they retained us to take over where they left off. The main focus of the project was to create a master suite and take advantage of the rather large backyard as an extension of their home. They were looking to create a more fluid indoor outdoor space. When adding the new master suite leaving the ceilings vaulted along with French doors give the space a feeling of openness. The window seat was originally designed as an architectural feature for the exterior but turned out to be a benefit to the interior! They wanted a spa feel for their master bathroom utilizing organic finishes. Since the plan is that this will be their forever home a curbless shower was an important feature to them. The glass barn door on the shower makes the space feel larger and allows for the travertine shower tile to show through. Floating shelves and vanity allow the space to feel larger while the natural tones of the porcelain tile floor are calming. The his and hers vessel sinks make the space functional for two people to use it at once. The walk-in closet is open while the master bathroom has a white pocket door for privacy. Since a new master suite was added to the home we converted the existing master bedroom into a family room. Adding French Doors to the family room opened up the floorplan to the outdoors while increasing the amount of natural light in this room. The closet that was previously in the bedroom was converted to built in cabinetry and floating shelves in the family room. The French doors in the master suite and family room now both open to the same deck space. The homes new open floor plan called for a kitchen island to bring the kitchen and dining / great room together. The island is a 3” countertop vs the standard inch and a half. This design feature gives the island a chunky look. It was important that the island look like it was always a part of the kitchen. Lastly, we added a skylight in the corner of the kitchen as it felt dark once we closed off the side door that was there previously. Repurposing rooms and opening the floor plan led to creating a laundry closet out of an old coat closet (and borrowing a small space from the new family room). The floors become an integral part of tying together an open floor plan like this. The home still had original oak floors and the homeowners wanted to maintain that character. We laced in new planks and refinished it all to bring the project together. To add curb appeal we removed the carport which was blocking a lot of natural light from the outside of the house. We also re-stuccoed the home and added exterior trim.

This North Shore, MA master bathroom renovation features a spa-inspired design centered around a curved glass block shower wall that brings in natural light while maintaining privacy. A freestanding soaking tub and expansive double vanity enhance both comfort and functionality, while soft neutral finishes create a bright and calming atmosphere. The open layout and thoughtful detailing result in a luxurious, everyday retreat that balances elegance with practicality.

The homeowners decided it was time to close the door on the 1980's décor, and bring their Master Suite into the new millennium. The project started with a complete renovation of the Master Bathroom, working in collaboration with Kitchen and Bath Concepts. They were looking to create a High End Transitional Style Spa Retreat. The tranquil color scheme for the entire suite was developed from the finish selections in the Bathroom, including the glass tile accent feature behind the tub. The Bedroom walls are enveloped in a warm silver grass cloth wall covering, with a subtle textured square pattern. The windows, which were previously untreated, now feature silk stripe drapery side panels with motorized natural shades for privacy. The bed was the only piece of existing furniture re used in the space, however tufted fabric inserts were added to the headboard and footboard to provide softness to the room. One feature piece in the room is the 6 drawer high chest with a custom silver leaf tree bark finish on the drawer fronts trimmed with a rich mahogany. A pair of overscaled branch hurricane candle sconces create drama, flanking the French doors leading to the Bathroom. A large lantern hovers from the cathedral ceiling in the Sitting Room. A room size double chaise sectional along with movable woven ottomans topped with leather provides comfort for the entire family for TV watching.

In order to create a spa feel, a designer linear shower drain, and customized shower with beautiful surface materials such as glass tile, glass block and pebble floor tile were incorporated for a luxurious atmosphere. Three body sprays, fixed shower head, and separate hand-held shower head add to a pleasant shower experience. We installed 3 double combination shower niches to keep the shower products organized and easily accessible. In addition, four attractive robe hooks are mounted inside the shower for additional storage for loofa and body brushes. A digital shower interface system controls the water temperature and different shower components with just a touch of the fingertips. The LCD display can be programmed to the users’ liking. We installed the display near the shower entry so it can be controlled from the outside of the shower to avoid getting wet, as well as from inside the shower. Photos by Jayce Giddens

The Master Bedroom features the same metallic plaster as the Master Bath. Its cut stone fireplace adds elegance and warmth. Stone columns on either side of the bed with reading lights over the bed add beauty and convenience. The drapes which block out all light when closed, are automated and allow you to see the beautiful view during waking hours but have darkness while sleeping.
