Costa Bella BuildersOur client was a family with younger children that came to us through the recommendations of former customers. Their existing house had been remodeled by them 10 years earlier and was well-suited to the married couple. With the addition of two younger children, they realized that the house just didn’t function very well for their family. Fortunately, the husband and wife took their time thinking about what they wanted, and by the time they met with us, had their needs well laid out. We brought in local Architect, James Stroupe, and recommended him to the client as a collaborative professional who could help us achieve their goals. This proved to be the case. Jim quickly produced design drawings for them within six weeks that clearly reflected all of the client’s needs and preferences while at the same time dramatically re-creating the home in a beautiful contemporary design.
The new home required a complete reconstruction of the existing house that left only one bathroom unaltered. New square footage was added at the lower level to expand and reconfigure the living area, while an entirely new upstairs wing was constructed to create space for a new master suite with views out toward the ocean. The entire roof was rebuilt, all new windows and interior doors were added and the full exterior received a new modern looking stucco finish. Stainless steel cable railings were added to the decks to create an updated look, and fine hardwood accents were used to pull the design together.
Our efforts produced a new three bedroom, three bath home with a large and inviting ground floor patio area, wide open living areas on the first floor with new kitchen, bathroom and dining room. The photographs in this section show the striking results- clean lines, dramatic architectural touches, and light, open and airy interior spaces. Our client was very pleased with the results.
Susan Yeley HomesAbout five years ago, these homeowners saw the potential in a brick-and-oak-heavy, wallpaper-bedecked, 1990s-in-all-the-wrong-ways home tucked in a wooded patch among fields somewhere between Indianapolis and Bloomington. Their first project with SYH was a kitchen remodel, a total overhaul completed by JL Benton Contracting, that added color and function for this family of three (not counting the cats). A couple years later, they were knocking on our door again to strip the ensuite bedroom of its ruffled valences and red carpet—a bold choice that ran right into the bathroom (!)—and make it a serene retreat. Color and function proved the goals yet again, and JL Benton was back to make the design reality. The clients thoughtfully chose to maximize their budget in order to get a whole lot of bells and whistles—details that undeniably change their daily experience of the space. The fantastic zero-entry shower is composed of handmade tile from Heath Ceramics of California. A window where the was none, a handsome teak bench, thoughtful niches, and Kohler fixtures in vibrant brushed nickel finish complete the shower. Custom mirrors and cabinetry by Stoll’s Woodworking, in both the bathroom and closet, elevate the whole design. What you don't see: heated floors, which everybody needs in Indiana.

McDaniels Kitchen and BathProving that even a compact master bathroom design can benefit from thinking outside the box, this Grand Ledge bathroom remodel converted an adjacent closet to create a larger bathroom. The addition of a sliding barn door fits the space perfectly and adds an element of rustic style to the design. Aristokraft rich dark maple cabinetry is beautifully contrasted by a white SSU quartz countertop and Jeffrey Alexander hardware. A framed mirror matches the wood finish of the cabinetry, and the faucet and accessories complement the hardware finish, pulling together the style of this space. The cabinetry incorporates a hanging cabinet over the toilet for extra storage. The shower has a luxurious contemporary glass shower door, and includes recessed storage niches. Olympia Tile flooring pairs with Virginia Tile shower tile including a glass mosaic tile border that matches the backsplash. This compact space is packed with style and storage!
Drewett WorksDesigned to embrace an extensive and unique art collection including sculpture, paintings, tapestry, and cultural antiquities, this modernist home located in north Scottsdale’s Estancia is the quintessential gallery home for the spectacular collection within. The primary roof form, “the wing” as the owner enjoys referring to it, opens the home vertically to a view of adjacent Pinnacle peak and changes the aperture to horizontal for the opposing view to the golf course. Deep overhangs and fenestration recesses give the home protection from the elements and provide supporting shade and shadow for what proves to be a desert sculpture. The restrained palette allows the architecture to express itself while permitting each object in the home to make its own place. The home, while certainly modern, expresses both elegance and warmth in its material selections including canterra stone, chopped sandstone, copper, and stucco.

Drury DesignThe remodel began by replacing the existing overbearing built-in tub, that took up valuable floor space, with an elegant free-standing model. The tub is complete with a convenient tub filler faucet and also offers a handy spot for a glass of wine or a good book- all while enjoying the view into the couple’s lovely backyard.
Another priority for this remodel was storage. To first address this, a single long vanity with classic details was incorporated and this combined with a tall custom corner linen cabinet proved to be the perfect solution! The vanity houses wall mount Brizo Virage faucets that keep the sink area open and spacious plus it makes wiping up a breeze!

Ember & Brune#PennyPark proves that you can pack a lot of style in a small space! We put a slightly modern twist on a 1930's classic with this master bath remodel. Period style hex and dot tile floor were traded for a large format hexagon. Traditional brass finishes were kept but in a sleeker plumbing style. And a juxtaposition of Carrara marble and warm afrormosia wood is a marriage made in heaven.

Spencer's Contracting LLCWe removed a standard size tub and enlarged the space to allow wheelchair accessibility for the owners. We installed new vanity cabinets that were designed and constructed in a way that would allow the base to be removed if the customer desired to accommodate a wheelchair being pulled up to the counter-top. In the end the function of the space with the quality design proved to be a great addition to this home.
