The duplex apartment, located in the heart of Park Slope, needed a complete kitchen remodel and reconfiguration. The two bathrooms were not functional, dated, and long overdue for overhaul. Floors, windows, ceilings, closets, doors, needed tender love and care. European Kitchen Center approached this project with the utmost care and extreme attention to the needs and desires of our clients. The result is a stunning modern kitchen, splendid bathrooms, just an amazing apartment. The glass kitchen cabinets are bursting with modern functionality, ample storage, and simplistic elegance. The handle-less white kitchen conveys minimal taste of the clients and their cooking habits. Bright bathrooms are cozy, yet packed with the latest style and function. Suspended European vanities provide ample storage. The medicine cabinet integrated LED lighting. Modern large format bathroom tile completes the design.

Interior designer Michael Del Piero’s 2000 sft 3-bedroom condo is located in the heart of Chicago’s Gold Coast. Her design aesthetic is minimal with a modern approach incorporating clean-lined furnishing fused with her personal collections of ethnic and handmade artifacts and textiles from across the globe. This project is an exhilarating exploration into function, simplicity, and the beauty of a white palette. Our wonderful client and friend was seeking a massive upgrade to a newly purchased home and had hopes of integrating her European inspired aesthetic throughout. At the forefront of consideration was clean-lined simplicity, and this concept is evident in every space in the home. The highlight of the project is the heart of the home: the kitchen. We integrated smooth, sleek, white slab cabinetry to create a functional kitchen with minimal door details and upgraded modernity. The cabinets are topped with concrete-look quartz from Caesarstone; a welcome soft contrast that further emphasizes the contemporary approach we took. The backsplash is a simple and elongated white subway paired against white grout for a modernist grid that virtually melts into the background. Taking the kitchen far outside of its intended footprint, we created a floating island with a waterfall countertop that can house critical cooking fixtures on one side and adequate seating on the other. The island is backed by a dramatic exotic wood countertop that extends into a full wall splash reaching the ceiling. Pops of black and high-gloss finishes in appliances add a touch of drama in an otherwise white field. The entire main level has new hickory floors in a natural finish, allowing the gorgeous variation of the wood to shine. Also included on the main level is a re-face to the living room fireplace, powder room, and upgrades to all walls and lighting. Upstairs, we created two critical retreats: a warm Mediterranean inspired bathroom for the client's mother, and the master bathroom. In the mother's bathroom, we covered the floors and a large accent wall with dramatic travertine tile in a bold Versailles pattern. We paired this highly traditional tile with sleek contemporary floating vanities and dark fixtures for contrast. The shower features a slab quartz base and thin profile glass door. In the master bath, we welcomed drama and explored space planning and material use adventurously. Keeping with the quiet monochromatic palette, we integrated all black and white into our bathroom concept. The floors are covered with large format graphic tiles in a deco pattern that reach through every part of the space. At the vanity area, high gloss white floating vanities offer separate space for his/her use. Tall linear LED fixtures provide ample lighting and illuminate another grid pattern backsplash that runs floor to ceiling. The show-stopping bathtub is a square steel soaker tub that nestles quietly between windows in the bathroom's far corner. We paired this tub with an unapologetic tub filler that is bold and large in scale. Next to the tub, an open shower is adorned with a full expanse of white grid subway tile, a slab quartz shower base, and sleek steel fixtures. This project was exciting and inspiring in its ability to push the boundaries of simplicity and quietude in color. Evolved in the heart of the San Juan Mountains, this Colorado Contemporary home features a blend of materials to complement the surrounding landscape. This home triggered a blast into a quartz geode vein which inspired a classy chic style interior and clever use of exterior materials. These include flat rusted siding to bring out the copper veins, Cedar Creek Cascade thin stone veneer speaks to the surrounding cliffs, Stucco with a finish of Moondust, and rough cedar fine line shiplap for a natural yet minimal siding accent. Its dramatic yet tasteful interiors, of exposed raw structural steel, Calacatta Classique Quartz waterfall countertops, hexagon tile designs, gold trim accents all the way down to the gold tile grout, reflects the Chic Colorado while providing cozy and intimate spaces throughout.

“I want mid-century modern, but livable.” The homeowner was an architect herself, so this project came with high expectations and a very specific vision. She’d been sketching ideas for months, and when we finally sat down together, she handed us a folder full of reference images—all clean lines, warm wood, and that perfect balance between minimalism and comfort. What we created exceeded even her expectations. The kitchen embodies understated sophistication with horizontal-grain walnut cabinets that wrap three walls in warm, organic beauty. We designed them as flat-panel, slab-front doors—no fussy details, just pure material honesty. The upper cabinets sit flush against the ceiling, maximizing storage while maintaining those clean modernist lines. The island became the functional heart of the space—topped with crisp white quartz that provides contrast against all that rich wood. It’s sized perfectly for quick breakfast with a barstool, but doesn’t overwhelm the compact footprint. That white subway tile backsplash keeps things classic and bright, while polished concrete floors ground everything with industrial-cool texture. Technically, this renovation required opening up the space to create better flow. We removed a wall section (you can see that dramatic archway leading from the living area) and installed a steel beam to maintain structural support. The new layout connects seamlessly to the backyard through those floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors—very California indoor-outdoor living. The vaulted ceiling with skylights was already there, but we added recessed LED lighting to ensure the workspace stays bright even on overcast days. All new electrical, upgraded plumbing, and a ventilation system hidden behind that streamlined range hood.

When the owner of this petite c. 1910 cottage in Riverside, RI first considered purchasing it, he fell for its charming front façade and the stunning rear water views. But it needed work. The weather-worn, water-facing back of the house was in dire need of attention. The first-floor kitchen/living/dining areas were cramped. There was no first-floor bathroom, and the second-floor bathroom was a fright. Most surprisingly, there was no rear-facing deck off the kitchen or living areas to allow for outdoor living along the Providence River. In collaboration with the homeowner, KHS proposed a number of renovations and additions. The first priority was a new cantilevered rear deck off an expanded kitchen/dining area and reconstructed sunroom, which was brought up to the main floor level. The cantilever of the deck prevents the need for awkwardly tall supporting posts that could potentially be undermined by a future storm event or rising sea level. To gain more first-floor living space, KHS also proposed capturing the corner of the wrapping front porch as interior kitchen space in order to create a more generous open kitchen/dining/living area, while having minimal impact on how the cottage appears from the curb. Underutilized space in the existing mudroom was also reconfigured to contain a modest full bath and laundry closet. Upstairs, a new full bath was created in an addition between existing bedrooms. It can be accessed from both the master bedroom and the stair hall. Additional closets were added, too. New windows and doors, new heart pine flooring stained to resemble the patina of old pine flooring that remained upstairs, new tile and countertops, new cabinetry, new plumbing and lighting fixtures, as well as a new color palette complete the updated look. Upgraded insulation in areas exposed during the construction and augmented HVAC systems also greatly improved indoor comfort. Simplicity, minimalism and clean lines characterize the Scandinavian-style dining table from the MINKO family manufactory. It is a lightweight, practical and beautiful piece of furniture that will serve you for many years, witnessing the most important meetings and events, and thanks to its form it will bring an atmosphere native to the north to any interior. The frame of the dining table is made of natural wood: beech, oak, bleached oak or in walnut color. It is also possible to choose the frame in white or black lacquered version. This is truly a magazine cover worthy Master Bathroom. The home is pre-civil war and this space was originally a spare bedroom that we converted into a master bathroom. The flooring was originally heart pine which is so rare we carefully removed it to re-use it in another pat of the home. Customer wanted a modern bathroom that still had a lot of the charm of the original style of the home. Back in the day a bathroom like this would have been all marble, we chose to go with a marble looking porcelain tile so that the maintenance is minimal. We tiled the entire floor in a herringbone pattern and did a vertical staggered stack on the walls using all 12x24 large format tile. The vanities are a sleek modern European style with a traditional sit down vanity for the lady of the house. The countertops are Quartz. We custom made the shower with a wall niche and built in seat with a custom made shower door and half wall panel. Attention to detail in everything including the brass light fixtures and brass mirrors. This is a work of art that incorporated modern with a time long gone all the while making it a low maintenance bathroom that never go out of style.

Located in the heart of Century City and West Los Angeles, this residence was designed to portray Spanish style fused with a modern touch of elegance. The space measures 4,800 sqft on a spacious lot which includes a swimming pool giving our client a resort-like tranquil experience. High ceilings and spacious floor plans are always a challenge especially in a seismically active zone. Our structural engineering team designed beams and other members that meet the Los Angeles Building Code while staying within construction budget provided by the client. Grading activities were minimal and stormwater drainage was captured through various components which directed all rainwater effectively into the street. Whether you are an avid cook utilizing the gourmet kitchen or a businessperson working from your home office, this residence offers all the amenities needed to enjoy the space you live in.
