Modern powder room featuring a freestanding vanity with stone top and vessel sink. Large format gray porcelain tiles on the floor and accent wall. The toilet is wall mounted with brass flush plate. The arch shape vanity mirror has built in LED lights. All finishes are brass, including bathroom faucet and vanity lighting fixtures.

Designed by Paula Greer and Danielle Florie, this transitional kitchen with pantry features cabinetry in both Wood-Mode Custom Cabinetry and its sister company, Brookhaven Cabinetry, a more affordable, semi-custom line. The sink wall features Brookhaven cabinetry’s Bridgeport door in cherry with a stain. A custom wood plate rack is flanked by glass fronted cabinets with cherry shelves and a custom blue painted back wall. The L- shaped oven and range wall features Brookhaven’s Sausalito door also in cherry with a stain – a similar door to the Bridgeport but with wider stiles and rails. The custom wood hood is by Wood-Mode. The Island adds a pop of color with Woodmode’s Chatham Recessed door in a custom blue paint. The island countertop is concrete by Brooks Custom. The perimeter tops are honed Jet Mist granite by Terra Tile. The stainless steel apron sink and faucet are by Franke. The refrigerator is Bosch and all other appliances are Thermador. Situated at the end of a cul-de-sac near the beautiful Mount Sutro Open Space Reserve, this 1907 Parnassus Heights home belongs to an active couple with a young daughter. They had dreams of transforming their home into a comforting refuge, equally equipped to whip up cocktails for guests, welcome them home after a good surf, or host their aging parents. We touched just about every space in this home, including the kitchen, hallway, dining room, bedrooms, and bathrooms. In addition, we updated the basement hall that leads to the outside, transforming it into a more presentable entry for guests, and created an enclosed storage space. Given the age of the home and its location on a hillside, precise structural work was involved to renew the home’s integrity. In the kitchen, which was originally dark and cramped, we made dramatic changes. We expanded the kitchen’s footprint, designing it to capture the expansive city views and create the indoor-outdoor living space they had always wanted. A large island with custom concrete countertops, a custom banquette, and beautiful red oak cabinets are just a few of the standout features in this soothing space. The rest of this home’s spaces received equally thoughtful planning: floor-to-ceiling bedroom wardrobes with integrated lighting, custom built-in elements, carefully layered lighting for ambiance and drama, a steam shower in the primary bathroom, and the addition of skylights to bring in natural light. This home is now an inviting, purposeful space perfectly tailored to infusing joy and ease into their everyday lives.

We started our design by focusing on the fireplace to be a focal point in the family room. We added floor-to-ceiling contemporary quartz slabs to the fireplace wall and then encased the firebox with a cast-stone mantel. To add to the elegance of the floor-to-ceiling quartz on the fireplace, we added an arrangement of custom resin plate wall sculptures. We continued with the modern blues tones in additional wall art and accessories. We added a large comfortable sectional with chaise and ottoman in a beautiful neutral performance fabric to make this space cozy and inviting for the family. We added warmth to the room with the live-edge wood tones in the console. We provided added functionality with the additional seating and C-side tables. Lastly, we provided dramatic floor-to-ceiling window treatments and a beautiful statement chandelier to complete the space.
