These short buffet lamps were chosen to lighten things up on the wall. They are much shorter than normal buffet lamps, which was a deliberate decision as to not overpower the mirror.

This year, the spotlight has been on warm tones paired with green accents that are both inviting and rejuvenating. This Stoneunlimited Kitchen and Bath client's home serves as a beautiful example getting back to warmer neutral tones of incorporates deep chocolate tones, warm browns and taupe to create a harmonious feeling as you walk through each space. Creamy gray painted walls are the perfect backdrop for the bolder design elements found in the exposed beams, backsplash, two tone cabinetry and accent walls. This home remodel has been inspired by nature. The dynamic sage green paint on the wall of the dedicated beverage station and in the living room bring life to each space. Our client has tastefully placed accent foliage and other decor throughout the home that has brought the outdoors into each room. Textures in the backsplash, natural wood grains in the cabinetry and exposed beams create a forest feel which is both inviting and peaceful. Stoneunlimited Kitchen and Bath Remodeling had the opportunity to help this customer achieve their dream of a fully remodeled main floor which included: kitchen, guest bathroom, dining room, kitchenette, pantry, living room and office. Extensive carpentry work was performed in what used to be a dinning and sitting room on the main level. A large wall was removed, and a new wall was created with a door entry and a recessed beverage station was installed with two tone upper and lower cabinets that house a small fridge. The upper cabinets with lighting were installed inside the glass upper cabinetry to add layered lighting to the space. Three wood beams were installed in the ceiling and a new kitchenette/pantry area was created behind the newly constructed wall. The kitchenette/pantry area includes a tall storage area as well as upper and lower cabinetry with a sink and small fridge. The kitchenette pantry is a perfect place to house countertop mixers, crock pots, air fryers or other small appliances that are accessible for immediate use. The main kitchen tops remain free of small appliance clutter and the countertops become an expansive workspace. The existing kitchen had a peninsula that made the area feel confined, prior to the kitchen remodel portion of the project. The peninsula was removed, and the fridge was relocated to the opposite wall, across the room to create a more open feel. Although a working island was installed, the flow through the kitchen feels more open and fluid than it did previously. The work island houses the microwave as well as additional storage. Spice and utensil pull outs to the left and right side of the range keep prepping utensils and seasonings conveniently tucked away. Other projects that were completed included in the home included new cabinetry and floating shelves that were installed in the living area. The two-tone aesthetic of the cabinetry is consistent with the other areas of the home and merge beautifully with the natural stacked stone feature in the fireplace wall. Darker lower cabinets anchor the room while lighter warmer upper tones provide a lighter feel without overpowering the space. The guest bathroom off of the living area was also remodeled. Taupe tones were introduced with the natural warm tones of newly installed cabinetry and countertops to maximize the storage space. 6 1/2 x 40" nut brown plank tile was installed and can be seen throughout the expanse of the first floor, giving the appearance of wood but are porcelain which are highly durable and easy to maintain. The homeowner also opted to have their main stairwell redone which included removing existing carpet, installation of stair treads and hardwood for the steps and landing area which included sanding and staining. Overall, the interior remodel of the main floor of this client's home was extensive and the impact of the changes that were made are incredible! The choices that were made with our client make this remodel not only specialized and customized to their everyday needs but a beautiful representation of how a dream home remodel can be achieved and accomplished. This hall bath renovation in Bloomfield Hills was completed in 2014, we transformed this space into an inviting and whimsical space for the kids to start and end their day. The colorful floor brings joy to your eyes without overpowering. The pronounced, colorful, mosaic tile floor flows under the floating vanity and continues into the shower which creates continuity in the space. The oversized, white porcelain wall tile, in the shower, provides the perfect contrast to the colorful mosaic floor.

This Neal Huston-designed second home in Broken Top reflects its owners’ unpretentious personalities and active lifestyles. It is set apart from many of its neighboring homes by its modest size, vibrant use of color, simple but finely-wrought alder millwork and playful applications of stone and ceramic tile. The result is an eclectic mix of finishes that combine to create a very casual and welcoming space that doesn’t overpower the clients furnishings and artwork. Activity is anchored by the gourmet kitchen where multiple chefs have room to cook while family and friends gather around.

Laura Beeler: I recently took a call from a customer looking for a designer. The mission was to help him create a wonderful, new living space in his downtown Des Moines loft. Matt & I had an instant connection. Since he had been in by Design before, we quickly set up a house call. An additional challenge was time — he was hosting a big party in 4 weeks! We chose the Tristan sofa for it’s retro look. We love how it appears to “float” over the stainless sleigh base. (Light & airy pieces were important as we didn’t want to overpower the intimate space). We anchored the room with a deep pile, chunky shag rug and topped it with a large storage ottoman. The two George chairs can span the decades and certainly have a personality all their own. The repetition of the metal and tufting in all of the pieces gives continuity to the design – an important consideration when designing a space this eclectic. The open shelving offered more storage as well as giving a great silhouette against the original white brick wall. I think the end result suits him to a tee, whether he is relaxing or entertaining. The best part was that we had it all in place in the allotted time frame.

This mid-century modern Rockford home was updated in stages, and the kitchen needed a complete remodel. The homeowners desired a kitchen that felt current without breaking from the character that defined the rest of the house. That meant we needed to choose materials that fit the home and highlighted the home’s character. Our team sourced pecky cypress and natural slate tile from non-traditional suppliers to get the exact look the home called for. The wood cabinetry was paired with a granite island, providing a gathering space in the kitchen without overpowering it. Because both materials required careful handling during installation, the crew worked more slowly and deliberately through this phase than a standard remodel. The result connected the kitchen directly to the living area, so the two spaces feel like one continuous room built in the same style as the rest of the home.

For the Master Bathroom, there was previously a large jacuzzi tub and small shower in the corner of the bathroom. We decided to remove the tub and instead create a larger shower and convert the existing shower into an open linen closet with custom wood shelving. Further our client asked us for the color green in this bathroom. We then looked for a way to highlight the color green without being overpowering and still keeping it light. We went with a 3×12 jade green subway for an accent wall in the shower in a stacked pattern, keeping it contemporary. We also extended the shower niche from side to side to further emphasize this accent wall and to also give maximum storage inside the shower. We then highlighted and balanced out the jade green with a 12×24 marble porcelain tile running the opposite direction and extending outside the shower to give a grandeur and larger feel. We also made sure to wrap glass all the way around the shower and shower bench to open the space more. We also repeated the same shade of green in the vanity and used polished nickel plumbing fixtures and hardware throughout.

Kitchen Décor, sometimes less is more, and in this case study from a private client’s home, it is very clear that Vistafolia can transform any space, regardless of whether it be a vast expanse of wall, or something very simplistic. They say the kitchen is the heart of the home, so why wouldn’t you want to add your own piece of luxury to the most important room without breaking the bank? This client requested that a small area be covered using the panels to add a stunning burst of greenery that is neither bland fake looking, nor overpowered the simple minimalist scheme already in place. By having just a few panels installed to cover the wall, Vistafolia Privacy Screening achieved an attractive aesthetic that enhanced the space and offered a low-maintenance, realistic green wall to be enjoyed by all the family.

This beautiful kitchen was designed to give a nod to the era of the home, while still having many modern amenities. We chose a simple 3 x 6 subway tile in a soft gray/green color as the backsplash, and changed the pattern up over the range to draw interest, while not overpowering the space.

Even though this couple’s primary bathroom was a large space, it felt dark and uninspiring with dark wood vanities and oversized jetted tub with built-in surround that didn’t get used. This remodeled master bathroom features his and hers bright white cabinetry with quartz tops and subway tile backsplashes. The spacious eight-foot spa shower includes a bench seat, niche and glass surround. The subtle pattern of the floor tile adds dimension and visual interest without overpowering the space. A gorgeous canvas art piece adds soft pops of blue, seafoam and purple to the room.
