This remodel of a mid century gem is located in the town of Lincoln, MA a hot bed of modernist homes inspired by Gropius’ own house built nearby in the 1940’s. By the time the house was built, modernism had evolved from the Gropius era, to incorporate the rural vibe of Lincoln with spectacular exposed wooden beams and deep overhangs. The design rejects the traditional New England house with its enclosing wall and inward posture. South Carolina Stunner is a refined expression of warm, modern cabinetry—where material, proportion, and detail come together seamlessly. This project features rift-cut white oak throughout, paired with applied molding fronts to introduce subtle depth and rhythm across the space. A custom-designed island anchors the kitchen, showcasing reeded side panels and integrated functional elements, including a built-in paper towel holder—blending utility with thoughtful design. Select areas transition into one-piece MDF painted fronts, creating contrast while maintaining a cohesive, timeless palette. Metal frame glass doors open to illuminated feature cabinets, highlighting rift-cut white oak interiors and carefully curated display moments. Integrated lighting enhances both function and ambiance, elevating everyday use. Behind the scenes, craftsmanship drives performance: dovetail drawer construction, plywood maple interiors, and fully integrated appliance panels ensure durability without compromising aesthetics. Every element of this home was designed with intention—balancing warmth, precision, and usability to create a space that feels both effortless and highly tailored.

Second of course to function, determining what materials to use and how to combine is critically important when designing a space. The client wanted highly durable, and Earth-Friendly materials, but loved the aesthetic of concrete and rustic Walnut. The solution is textured MDF cabinetry from Bauformat (Germany). The island and upper cabinetry is a board-formed concrete look, while the perimeter base cabinetry is a rustic Walnut look. Both are laser edge-banded for a precise finish, incredible durability and resistance to atmospheric factors like humidity and UV.

This master ensuite is compact, but makes the most of the space it has. With ample storage in the vanity, and custom U shaped drawers, every bit of space is utilized. All tile on the walls makes upkeep a breeze, and the feature wall gives charcter to the space.

The dining room has plenty of seating to comfortably fit 8 people. It is accented with custom molding and artwork to finish the look. The colour palette unifies the main floor with maintaining a clean look.
