To enhance the glam factor, Thomas selected gold and satin brass finishes for the fixtures, complementing minimalist window casings and high-gloss cabinets. Despite challenges like exterior walls and plumbing logistics, innovative solutions like furring out walls and precise plumbing rerouting were implemented. Special features include trim-less windows and doors, meticulously aligned vanity elements, and large-format porcelain tiles with integrated storage niches. The result is a harmonious, serene space that perfectly balances modern aesthetics with functional design.

Taking on this pre-war building renovation was the ultimate design challenge. We combined two units into one massive home. By moving the dining table into the great room, we were able to double the size of the kitchen, allowing for a large island in the center of the space. The wolf range topped with a custom hood was on the utilitary side of the kitchen, next the the shaws sink and House of Rohl faucet. The Calacatta Paonazzo marble from Artistic tile in a honed finished continued from the counters to the backsplash and floating shelf, serving the wow factor this light kitchen deserved. On the opposite wall, floor to ceiling custom cabinetry housed a coffee station and ample storage. There’s even a reading nook window seat, perfect for morning coffee. The two glass blown pendants from Gabriel Scott float on top of the island while the Hudson Valley sconces illuminate the marble shelf. Lead designer, Stevi Fourouli added the final touch by painting lime-wash on the walls to accentuate the old-world feeling of this building.

The kitchen also includes JennAir Panel Ready appliances. Countertop and other materials were provided by others. "Finding a contractor for the demo was the hardest part. Mandy perfectly interpreted our needs and aesthetic, really nailing the layout in an awkward space. Kathy was wonderful, consistently helping us navigate through odd changes due to external factors. I love the new layout of the kitchen," said the client. “The kitchen was a very oddly shaped which made it challenging to accommodate the built-in refrigerator, wall ovens and refrigerator drawers while still having cabinets for storage as well as countertop space,” said Kathy. "Modifying cabinet specifications to fit both the space and appliances was key for a successful layout. The client had a clear vision and was fantastic to work with. Despite some initial issues with the order, they handled it calmly, allowing us to revise the layout smoothly. A description of the homeowners and space from Linnzy, the Presidential Pools, Spas & Patio designer who worked on this project: "The homeowners can be described as an active family of three boys. They tend to host family and friends and wanted a space that could fill their large backyard and yet be functional for the kids and adults. The contemporary straight lines of the pool match the interior of the house giving them a resort feel in the very own backyard! The large pergola is a perfect area to cool off in the shade while enjoying a large outdoor kitchen as well as an oversized fire pit for the cooler nights and roasting marshmallows. They wanted a wow factor as the pool is the main focal point from the living room, and the oversized wall and rain sheer did the trick!"

Because basements are prone to moisture, we opted for luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring instead of hardwood. This mid-tone plank is one of my favorites, and I love the character it brings to the basement. To ensure the living room setting looked cohesive with the rest of the space, we paired the flooring with a deeper wood tone, which we placed around the fireplace, bar, and serving area. We reinforced the sultry, sophisticated deep brown color on the leather armchairs and coffee table. Our clients desperately wanted a fireplace in the living room, so we amped up the cozy factor by installing a panorama fireplace with a sophisticated black brick tile front. We loved the bold veining on the quartz bar island so much that we carried it over to the fireplace surround. It was definitely a bold option, but it was perfectly balanced against the deep black.

When our clients purchased this condo it was ready for a re-do. All the dark oak cabinets and trim had to go! We gutted the walls in the kitchen to open up the view of the lake. The whimsical colors and details of this remodeled condo in Mariners Cove, Madison Wisconsin fit our clients perfectly. Lake living was the top order at this condo so our nod to nautical was a fun touch. We added a coffered ceiling with a bead board and beamed look to really give this kitchen the wow factor. We removed all the old walnut stained oak trim in the condo and replaced it with a painted white package, all new flooring, lighting, fresh wall color and we even updated the old spindle staircase with open cable wire which really gave this condo a new look. Welcome to the lake!

We worked alongside ACG Architects and accessible kitchen design specialist, Adam Thomas to create this stunning wheelchair-accessible kitchen so our client could prepare, cook and serve meals for her family independently. We designed this kitchen to have three different heights to enable our client and family to prepare and cook food easily. For example, the accessible worktop with a custom-made sink was made to be 870mm - the perfect height for a wheelchair user. Other key features in this design include wheelchair level ovens with tray slides that sit directly under two Neff Slide & Glide ovens, a Neff Steamer and a Microwave, so hot oven trays can be moved easily across each tray slide. A pull-out shelf allows for food/trays to be moved easily to the worktop level that was designed to be lower than standard for wheel-chair use. In front of the hob, there is also a protective lip at the edge of the worktop to stop a pan from boiling over onto the floor, or onto the client's lap. A stone sink was also custom made by Cosentino, so it wasn’t too deep for our client to reach into. The architects included wood slatting across the entire ground floor that creating a stunning feature in the kitchen space. Each slat was designed to run with precision over the door units - there were also toasters and pull-out drawers hidden behind this area which were designed to be isolated from the power when the doors were closed. Mixing different materials and textures in a kitchen space created interest and contrast. The striking mix of the stained wood slatting, Graphite Grey cabinetry and durable Dekton Keon worktops in this collaborative kitchen design creates a real wow factor. This kitchen design works for each family member with varying needs and heights so that it is a space that allows for the whole family to enjoy and create memories together. This stunning kitchen / breakfast area is full of color and stunning details. As you walk into the kitchen, you will find that the hardwood herringbone floor is extraordinary. Its the first thing you notice and it really is striking. Every angle of the kitchen has a wow factor - look to the right and you'll see gorgeous teal ceramic tile backsplash, the ultra versatile workhorse sink, and yes, a pink microwave - great pops of color perfectly balanced between the white shaker cabinets and white countertop. Look to the left and you'll see a complimentary smaller backsplash tile pattern, and some really smart built-in pantry cabinets. Built in 1896, the original site of the Baldwin Piano warehouse was transformed into several turn-of-the-century residential spaces in the heart of Downtown Denver. The building is the last remaining structure in Downtown Denver with a cast-iron facade. HouseHome was invited to take on a poorly designed loft and transform it into a luxury Airbnb rental. Since this building has such a dense history, it was our mission to bring the focus back onto the unique features, such as the original brick, large windows, and unique architecture. Our client wanted the space to be transformed into a luxury, unique Airbnb for world travelers and tourists hoping to experience the history and art of the Denver scene. We went with a modern, clean-lined design with warm brick, moody black tones, and pops of green and white, all tied together with metal accents. The high-contrast black ceiling is the wow factor in this design, pushing the envelope to create a completely unique space. Other added elements in this loft are the modern, high-gloss kitchen cabinetry, the concrete tile backsplash, and the unique multi-use space in the Living Room. Truly a dream rental that perfectly encapsulates the trendy, historical personality of the Denver area.

This backyard design was inspired by a combination of our Graphic Wall, Blu Grande Patio Slabs and Raffinato Stone Steps. The Graphix wall’s varying depths and unique but simple installation process creates a 3 dimensional visual effect. The mix of smooth and chiseled textures add another factor of visual interest to this wall, making it perfect for design lovers and those seeking something sleek and out of the box. Blu Grande Smooth is a large concrete patio stone available in multiple colors. Its smooth texture is sleek to the eye but rougher to the touch which avoids it from getting slippery when wet. The large rectangular shape works as an easy add-on into Blu 60 regular modular patterns but can also work as a stand-alone to create a very linear look. Check out the HD2 Blu Grande Smooth which is all about seamless looks with a tighter/poreless texture and anti-aging technology. These stone steps were inspired by our by our Raffinato collection! This very social couple were tying the knot and looking to create a space to host their friends and community, while also adding much needed living space to their 900 square foot cottage. The couple had a strong emphasis on growing edible and medicinal plants. With many friends from a community garden project they were involved in and years of learning about permaculture, they wanted to incorporate many of the elements that the permaculture movement advocates for. We came up with a California native and edible garden that incorporates three composting systems, a gray water system, rain water harvesting, a cob pizza oven, and outdoor kitchen. A majority of the materials incorporated into the hardscape were found on site or salvaged within 20-mile of the property. The garden also had amenities like an outhouse and shower for guests they would put up in the converted garage. Coming into this project there was and An old clawfoot bathtub on site was used as a worm composting bin, and for no other reason than the cuteness factor, the bath tub composter had to stay. Added to that was a compost tumbler, and last but not least we erected an outhouse with a composting toilet system (The Nature's Head Composting Toilet). We developed a gray water system incorporating the water that came out of the washing machine and from the outdoor shower to help water bananas, gingers, and canailles. All the down spouts coming off the roof were sent into depressions in the front yard. The depressions were planted with carex grass, which can withstand, and even thrive on, submersion in water that rain events bring to the swaled-out area. Aesthetically, carex reads as a lawn space in keeping with the cottage feeling of the home. As with any full-fledged permaculture garden, an element of natural building needed to be incorporated. So, the heart and hearth of the garden is a cob pizza oven going into an outdoor kitchen with a built-in bench. Cob is a natural building technique that involves sculpting a mixture of sand, soil, and straw around an internal structure. In this case, the internal structure is comprised of an old built-in brick incinerator, and rubble collected on site. Besides using the collected rubble as a base for the cob structure, other salvaged elements comprise major features of the project: the front fence was reconstructed from the preexisting fence; a majority of the stone edging was created by stones found while clearing the landscape in preparation for construction; the arbor was constructed from old wash line poles found on site; broken bricks pulled from another project were mixed with concrete and cast into vegetable beds, creating durable insulated planters while reducing the amount of concrete used ( and they also just have a unique effect); pathways and patio areas were laid using concrete broken out of the driveway and previous pathways. (When a little more broken concrete was needed, we busted out an old pad at another project a few blocks away.) Far from a perfectly polished garden, this landscape now serves as a lush and inviting space for my clients, their friends and family to gather and enjoy each other’s company. Days after construction was finished the couple hosted their wedding reception in the garden—everyone danced, drank and celebrated, christening the garden and the union!
