This remarkable Glencoe kitchen renovation created a space that fit seamlessly with the decor of the house while also becoming its own truly unique talking point. Accented by a stunningly large skylight, the focal point of this kitchen is the dramatic counter to ceiling stone backsplash that matches the warm wood cabinetry and floors. Stainless steel appliances and chef’s sink provide a modern contrast to the natural elements and pull-out storage provides easy access to frequently used items. The under cabinet wine fridge and custom stainless steel and glass hood add extra personalized touches to this very distinct kitchen.

The house is sited in the tree line at the edge of a rocky outcrop, and responds to sweeping eastern views of the valley below. The family cooks, eats, and hangs out together in a space with amazing eastern sunlight and a strong connection to the trees outside and the Piedmont landscape in the distance. A "personal touch" was high on the clients' wish-list—interiors of warm wood tones are accompanied by owner-crafted items, stained glass, cabinetry, railings and works of art. This humble sensibility is carried through on the exterior with simple board and batten siding, whitewash, and a rambling series of forms inspired by central Virginia agricultural architecture.

I had been dreaming about built in bunk beds for my children and our guests. After showing a picture to a gifted craftsman, he built these for our family. I love the shiplap and the X railings, the built in cubbies for guests' bags, personal lights for each bunk, contrast of dark stain and white paint, and the storage area under the ladder. The shelves with outlets are perfect for placing books, charging phones, and placing other important items. I wouldn't change a single thing about this space. It's absolutely perfect! Designated storage for each member of the family provides them personalized space and personalized accountability! Room Redefined decluttered the space, and did a lot of space planning to make sure it had good flow for all of the functions. Intentional use of organization products, including shelf-dividers, shelf-labels, colorful bins, wall organization to take advantage of vertical space, and cubby storage maximize functionality. We supported the process through removal of unwanted items, product sourcing and installation. We continue to work with this family to maintain the space as their needs change over time. The layout includes a run of base cabinets and drawers along the full width of the wall, topped with the wood counter for desk or display use. Open bookshelving flanks a central shiplap-paneled niche, with the shiplap wall serving as a display backdrop for framed items and personal pieces. Brass gooseneck picture lights are mounted above each shelving section and the central niche, providing warm, directional lighting for the shelves and display area below.

A contemporary open concept Living/Dining space with an Asian flair! This small space became the perfect conversation area with a few, but elegant elements. Each item in the space (vintage or new) was chosen with the intention of bringing character and unique personality to every corner. The end result was a perfect marriage of old and new, blending different styles to create a simple, beautiful design.

This piece was custom designed to specifically fit the customer's two dogs. Keeping the dogs in mind this piece was painted with an enamel paint for superior durability, and a plastic material was added to the floor to make for easy cleanup. The large side of the kennel does not have a drawer above it to maximize the head room for the larger dog. The two drawers that exist have full extension 24" drawer slides to make storing dog related items easily accessible. Custom carved dog bone handles add a personal touch to this piece. This piece is a great addition to these dog parents home and will last them for years to come!

This kitchen took a tired, 80’s builder kitchen and revamped it into a personalized gathering space for our wonderful client. The existing space was split up by the dated configuration of eat-in kitchen table area to one side and cramped workspace on the other. It didn’t just under-serve our client’s needs; it flat out discouraged them from using the space. Our client desired an open kitchen with a central gathering space where family and friends could connect. To open things up, we removed the half wall separating the kitchen from the dining room and the wall that blocked sight lines to the family room and created a narrow hallway to the kitchen. The old oak cabinets weren't maximizing storage and were dated and dark. We used Waypoint Living Spaces cabinets in linen white to brighten up the room. On the east wall, we created a hutch-like stack that features an appliance garage that keeps often used countertop appliance on hand but out of sight. The hutch also acts as a transition from the cooking zone to the coffee and wine area. We eliminated the north window that looked onto the entry walkway and activated this wall as storage with refrigerator enclosure and pantry. We opted to leave the east window as-is and incorporated it into the new kitchen layout by creating a window well for growing plants and herbs. The countertops are Pental Quartz in Carrara. The sleek cabinet hardware is from our friends at Amerock in a gorgeous satin champagne bronze. One of the most striking features in the space is the pattern encaustic tile from Tile Shop. The pop of blue in the backsplash adds personality and contrast to the champagne accents. The reclaimed wood cladding surrounding the large east-facing window introduces a quintessential Colorado vibe, and the natural texture balances the crisp white cabinetry and geometric patterned tile. Minimalist modern lighting fixtures from Mitzi by Hudson Valley Lighting provide task lighting over the sink and at the wine/ coffee station. The visual lightness of the sink pendants maintains the openness and visual connection between the kitchen and dining room. Together the elements make for a sophisticated yet casual vibe-- a comfortable chic kitchen. We love the way this space turned out and are so happy that our clients now have such a bright and welcoming gathering space as the heart of their home!
