This architecture and interior design project was introduced to us by the client’s contractor after their villa had been damaged extensively by a fire. The entire main level was destroyed with exception of the front study. Srote & Co reimagined the interior layout of this St. Albans villa to give it an "open concept" and applied universal design principles to make sure it would function for our clients as they aged in place. The universal approach is seen in the flush flooring transitions, low pile rugs and carpets, wide walkways, layers of lighting and in the seated height countertop and vanity. For convenience, the laundry room was relocated to the master walk-in closet. This allowed us to create a dedicated pantry and additional storage off the kitchen where the laundry was previously housed. All interior selections and furnishings shown were specified or procured by Srote & Co Architects.

This 5BD / 3BA home was purchased by our client in an auction, after a year of being unoccupied. This 1st Phase scope included updating 3 bathrooms, interior & exterior paint, a complete lighting plan, converting their wood-burning fireplace to an electric fireplace; adding LED-lit wood paneling to the fireplace wall, and curating, procuring and placing furnishings, linens, and some decor pieces throughout the home. After the dining room chandelier is installed, we will have our professional “after” photo session. The Client’s design vision is “Pacific Northwest Vibe” for this personal chef concept Airbnb. The 2nd Phase will include updating the flooring and kitchen.

Located in Boston’s South End, this three-story Victorian-era building was completely renovated to accommodate a young couple about to start a family. The open ground floor was designed to be multi-functional, offering areas for cooking, dining, lounge space, and kids’ play area. Using the couple’s collection of mid-century modern furniture and accessories, along with the procurement of additional furniture, a vintage modern aesthetic was created. A new fireplace, custom rug and wall-hung bookshelves were added to the reconfigured first floor living area. The client came to us to transform a room in their new house, with the purpose of entertaining friends. In order to give them the relaxed, airy vibe they were looking for, the original outdated space needed some TLC... starting with a coat of paint. We did a walk through with the client to get a feel for the room we’d be working with, asked the couple to give us some insight into their budget and color and style preferences, and then we got to work! We created three unique design concepts with their preferences in mind: Beachy, Breezy and Boho. Our client chose concept #2 "Breezy" and we got cranking on the procurement and installation (as in putting together an Ikea table).From designing, editing, and ordering to installing, our process took just a few weeks for this project (most of the lag time spent waiting for furniture to arrive)! And we managed to get the husband's seal of approval, too. Double win.

Challenge: Furniture in the guest suite is too large. Room under utilized. Flex space needed. Solution: Sell existing furniture, procure a new compact "Cube" Murphy bed, and repurpose furniture from other areas of the home. Turned a room that was hardly ever used into a multi-purpose guest room, library, poker lounge, and game room.
