This modern farmhouse located outside of Spokane, Washington, creates a prominent focal point among the landscape of rolling plains. The composition of the home is dominated by three steep gable rooflines linked together by a central spine. This unique design evokes a sense of expansion and contraction from one space to the next. Vertical cedar siding, poured concrete, and zinc gray metal elements clad the modern farmhouse, which, combined with a shop that has the aesthetic of a weathered barn, creates a sense of modernity that remains rooted to the surrounding environment. The Glo double pane A5 Series windows and doors were selected for the project because of their sleek, modern aesthetic and advanced thermal technology over traditional aluminum windows. High performance spacers, low iron glass, larger continuous thermal breaks, and multiple air seals allows the A5 Series to deliver high performance values and cost effective durability while remaining a sophisticated and stylish design choice. Strategically placed operable windows paired with large expanses of fixed picture windows provide natural ventilation and a visual connection to the outdoors.

An existing attached garage was renovated into a suite for the owners aging parents. The kitchenette includes refrigerator, sink and dishwasher, coffee pot, toaster oven and microwave.

We designed this large residential landscape in Arvada, Colorado to create curb appeal in the front with various perennials, grasses and boulders alongside an existing irrigation ditch. This design includes a wider than normal walkway and beautiful entrance. By removing the lawn a low maintenance garden with seasonal interest was added to provide wonderful curb appeal.

A fresh coat of off-white paint brought a feeling of the Santa Barbara style to this home. Terra-cotta and Spanish tiles were added to the steps for a custom feel. A new garage door was installed to add curb appeal. In addition, a striped awning was added over the bedroom window to provide shade and visual interest to the exterior. The landscaping was kept minimal for the new homeowner to add their own personal touches.

The mix of the stained wood cabinets along with the beaded, inset cabinets in coconut with a bronze glaze provide visual appeal while tying in with the existing wood of the vaulted ceiling.

The term “industrial” evokes images of large factories with lots of machinery and moving parts. These cavernous, old brick buildings, built with steel and concrete are being rehabilitated into very desirable living spaces all over the country. Old manufacturing spaces have unique architectural elements that are often reclaimed and repurposed into what is now open residential living space. Exposed ductwork, concrete beams and columns, even the metal frame windows are considered desirable design elements that give a nod to the past. This unique loft space is a perfect example of the rustic industrial style. The exposed beams, brick walls, and visible ductwork speak to the building’s past. Add a modern kitchen in complementing materials and you have created casual sophistication in a grand space.
