This project involved a complete gut of an existing master bath space. The fixtures and finishes were far beyond their prime. The space itself was a nice size, especially for a Victorian home, but the arrangement of the fixtures was all wrong. The solution was to rearrange all of the primary bath functions and make the space more user friendly. A new walk-in shower with a wood drying platform became a focal point at one end of the room. Pale grey cabinets, with a clean and light counter surface, is enhanced by the huge amount of natural light that pours in from an existing sky light. Being consistent with materials around the room helped to unify the space. The solid surface material at shower bench, vanity counter, curbing and wall caps all stay quiet, allowing the color elements to pop. The customer elected to reface their existing oak kitchen with a more modern look. They chose a Shaker style of cabinet door, opting for a Satin White finish on solid Maple for the main part of the kitchen and a contrasting Charisma (dark) color stain on Maple wood for the island. New Granite counters were installed along with a new tiles backsplash. Storage enhancements were added to make some of the cabinets more accessible/user friendly, and more functional. New stainless steel pulls were installed to provide the “perfect” finishing touch to this beautiful new kitchen.

The task was to transform a timeworn two bedrooms unit at Edmonton government flats into a contemporary-style apartment. The building was constructed in 2000, and the client requested to modify the place with minimum structural changes. Therefore the whole renovation includes the least demolishes and reconstructions. We removed the previous pantry that was broken at that time and redesigned it in a user-friendly manner. More space was given for the dining area by replacing the ‘u-shaped’ old pantry counter with a simple straight unit. We made sure to add extra storage space up to the height of the ceiling. The main construction challenge was to renovate the existing bathrooms. Kalota changed its appearance by carefully paying attention to waterproofing and adding new accessories and tiles. The living room was transformed into a more spacious seating area with modern furniture and the correct balance of lighting. We applied colors and wall textures to enhance the contemporary ambiance. The fabrications of the interior were completed under the supervision of Kalota. A special thank goes to the client for providing us with the necessary freedom to design and complete the project.
