On top of many other considerations, sound was a significant factor – in more ways than one – when it came time for prentiss+balance+wickline ARCHITECTS to design Seattle’s “Ballard Cut” house. In fact, it was particularly relevant to the home’s fenestration. Situated on a patch of ground that offered gorgeous views of Puget Sound on one side but a railroad cutback on the other, Ballard Cut presented a unique challenge. To address this conundrum, the designers at prentiss+balance+wickline wanted windows with optimal sightlines to augment the inlet-side views and proper sound absorption to negate the roar of the trains. Modern living room/family room with a couple of features. Stone Fireplace Dry stacked with 6" veneer installed by Fernando's Stone in Swannanoa NC. We really tried to focus on the varying tones in the stone we picked which you can do with any stone that you find. We asked for a lot of the "chocolate" tones to be added in for warmth.

This high-rise condominium at The Mayfair longed for the renewal conceptualized in its 3 bathrooms. Each was a complete renovation, adding relevant aesthetic updates and much-needed functionality and storage. We capitalized on the immense amount of natural light in the primary bath and we amplified it throughout the space by opening up walls to the shower, lining the vanity with full-sized, built-in vanity mirrors, and distributing electrified lighting throughout. Custom cabinetry was designed to capture every inch of usable perimeter space and incorporate the elevated tub platform. The guest bath emulates a classic, luxury hotel feel infused with color, a great tile pattern on the focal shower wall, a furniture-style vanity, and a fun floor design. The powder bath is dark and moody with textural wallpaper and an espresso-colored porcelain floor tile emulating marble. All of the appointments throughout exude the luxury look and feel the client desired, are maintenance friendly and will stand the test of time.

The combination of green and brown colors and the selected textures along with the long rectangular kitchen island perfectly positioned in the center creates an inviting atmosphere and the sensation of a much bigger space. During the renovation process, the D9 team focused their efforts on removing the existing kitchen island and replacing the existing kitchen island cabinets with new kraft made cabinets producing a visual contrast to the rest of the kitchen. The beautiful Quartz color river rock countertops used for this projects were fabricated and installed bringing a much relevant accent to the cabinets and matching the brown metal tile backsplash. The old sink was replaced for a new farmhouse sink, giving the homeowners more space and adding a very particular touch to the rest of the kitchen.

The aqueduct is a key relevance to the style which portrays an ancient cultural method of elutriating stagnant bath water with a continuous supply of fresh water. Each elaborately hand carved feature sets a mood of Greek architectural expression in this space. The two fire-water features at each end of the pool and all of the column structural support depict a ‘Doric’ style consisting of channeled columns. Also, to enhance this space with a full perspective of Greek-Roman style, the convex ceiling depicts a vision of an opened-ceiling that reveals a fully animated Greek-mythological star setting created by fiber optic lighting. Geothermal technology is the primary source for heating and cooling the pool and spa. The first thing your guests will notice when walking into this beautiful retreat, is the monochromatic, tone-on-tone, hand-painted design on the walls of the room. The design inspiration came from the acanthus leaf pattern found in the luxurious bedding. The original pattern was then created and implemented by Michael Boudreault of Artisan Rooms. The motif was continued on the ceiling and highlights the chandelier. The guest bedroom reflects the innate nature of this traditional home with the contemporary, relevant feel of today. The modern gold and gray tones compliment the beautiful wood work while providing a fresh, yet rich ambiance. Guests will enjoy the elegant furnishings, the lush silk draperies and the stunning chandelier. The whimsical sculpture “Butterflies for Brains” provides a perfect modern accent and a fun conversation piece.
