The 2023 Southern Living Idea House is an oasis on the Tennessee hillside. Bill Holloway and Luke Sippel of Lake + Land Studio had the task of building and designing the perfect home for clients who loved dogs, music, and indoor-outdoor living. The 5,600-square-foot contemporary Southern farmhouse in Leiper’s Fork was intentionally placed to fit the surrounding natural landscape. Holloway and Sippel wanted the home to feel as though it had always been there. An important element of Southern living was present in the home’s design and build: porches. The home has a large, covered porch that runs the nearly the entire length of the back of the home on the main floor and one on the lower level. Using Marvin Ultimate multi-slide doors on the porch unified the indoor and outdoor spaces. The multi-slide door has the ability for the door to open fully, seamlessly blending the two spaces. We feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to work on this clean NW Contemporary home. Due to its remote location, our goal was to pre-fabricate as much as possible and shorten the installation time on site. We were able to cut and pre-fit all the glue-laminated timber frame structural elements, the Douglas Fir tongue and groove ceilings, and even the open riser Maple stair. The pictures mostly speak for themselves; but it is worth noting, we were very pleased with the final result. Despite its simple modern aesthetic with exposed concrete walls and miles of glass on the view side, the wood ceilings and the warm lighting give a cozy, comfy feel to the spaces. The owners were very involved with the design and build, including swinging hammers with us, so it was a real labor of love. William Short Photography For a third year in a row, AZEK® Building Products is proud to partner with Sunset magazine on its inspirational 2018 Silicon Valley Idea House, located in the beautiful town of Los Gatos, California. The design team utilized Weathered Teak™ from AZEK® Deck's Vintage Collection® to enhance the indoor-outdoor theme of this year's home. It's featured in three locations on the home including the front porch, back deck and lower-level patio. De Mattei Construction also used AZEK's Evolutions Rail® Contemporary and Bronze Riser lights to complete the stunning backyard entertainment area.

This house had a very old kitchen cabinets, old appliances, was very small with walls that was separating the kitchen and dining room and kitchen and laundry room. the sub floor was not even and was sinking down in the laundry room area from bad wood rough and termite. we opened up the 2 walls from the dining room all the way to the back wall with supporting posts and beams, we fixed and raised the damaged floor area by adding new cripple wall drilled to existing foundation and we cut and sistered the floor joists. we removed the old plaster walls and ceilings, frame out new exterior door and kitchen window. adding replumbing and rewiring the kitchen and the entire house and upgrading the panel box to 200 amp. relocating the water heater and installing new tankless water heater outside. adding new insulation on exterior walls, waterproof membrane and adding new wood siding to the exterior wall in the kitchen area. we covered the floor joists with plywood, cover the plywood with waterproof membrane, adding cement board on top and applying red guard waterproof membrane to the cement board, then we installed new tiles. we covered all walls and ceiling with drywall and paint, then we installed the kitchen cabinets, counter top, backsplash tile, appliances and light fixtures.

This Art Nouveau style entrance mosaic for a restaurant is made with hand cut Mosaic. The mosaic has been designed and approved by the customer with their restaurant logo. The mosaic will be made according to the approved mock design in tile on mesh for installation. The size will be 1780 x 1500 mm and due to the size of the mosaic it will be sectioned and shipped in two parts for ease of shipping and installation. The mosaic is on mesh for installation and packed in a custom wood box for safe travel with extra tile pieces in case needed during installation. Once grouted the hand cut mosaic is like a tile wall and can be cleaned and maintained as such. It takes roughly three weeks for the mosaic to reach you depending on the size of the mosaic from when you order. All my mosaics are cut by hand. Mosaics can be custom made for size and color and can also have any writing or number you choose. I can also create any logo , pattern or artwork with mosaic. I can create any design and any size of mosaic. For large mosaics even full floors, they can be sectioned and packaged and shipped in sections. These can be put back together and grouted over.
