A mountain retreat for an urban family of five, centered on coming together over games in the great room. Every detail speaks to the parents’ parallel priorities—sophistication and function—a twofold mission epitomized by the living area, where a cashmere sectional—perfect for piling atop as a family—folds around two coffee tables with hidden storage drawers. An ambiance of commodious camaraderie pervades the panoramic space. Upstairs, bedrooms serve as serene enclaves, with mountain views complemented by statement lighting like Owen Mortensen’s mesmerizing tumbleweed chandelier. No matter the moment, the residence remains rooted in the family’s intimate rhythms.

Reclaimed barn wood cabinets in a two-tone finish pair with cleaner gray lower cabinets and white finishes. A vintage Aga range gives a sense of history. Antique mirror on the backsplash and light fixtures add brightness, bling, and make the room appear larger. The combination is rustic and refined.

Rustic-Modern Finnish Kitchen Our client was inclined to transform this kitchen into a functional, Finnish inspired space. Finnish interior design can simply be described in 3 words: simplicity, innovation, and functionalism. Finnish design addresses the tough climate, unique nature, and limited sunlight, which inspired designers to create solutions, that would meet the everyday life challenges. The combination of the knotty, blue-gray alder base cabinets combined with the clean white wall cabinets reveal mixing these rustic Finnish touches with the modern. The leaded glass on the upper cabinetry was selected so our client can display their personal collection from Finland. Mixing black modern hardware and fixtures with the handmade, light, and bright backsplash tile make this kitchen a timeless show stopper. This project was done in collaboration with Susan O'Brian from EcoLux Interiors.

Giana Allen Design created a cabin and furnished the interiors to create a feeling of openness and intimacy for a cabin that was located in a warm climate. The airy space and light colors contrasting with the warmth of the wood creates a feeling of intimacy within the large room. A bright, vibrant, rustic, and minimalist interior is showcased throughout this one-of-a-kind 3D home. We opted for reds, oranges, bold patterns, natural textiles, and ample greenery throughout. The goal was to represent the energetic and rustic tones of El Salvador, since that is where the first village will be printed. We love the way the design turned out as well as how we were able to utilize the style, color palette, and materials of the El Salvadoran region! Painted in a rustic white finish, the orange pine walls of the cabin were painted by the homeowners own hand using a sock and rubbing paint with a light hand so that the knots would show clearly to achieve the look of a lime-washed wall. The antique French Iron bed was located on line and brought in from California. The peeling paint shows the layers of age with French blue, white and rust tones peeking through. Layers and layers of handmade linens by Bella Notte adorn the bed with lofty piles of pure down comforters and pillows providing the ultimate comfort for chilly evening nights.
