Minimalist family room photo in Dallas

This Family Room Media Center features a front projection video system and screen that will display Satellite TV, Blu-Ray discs and AppleTV for streaming Netflix programming. Complemented with a Dolby Surround Sound System this home owner can enjoy any programming choice in style.

Keeping the cottage-feel of this home was essential to the homeowners and guided us thru every step while working on this home. Many original features were kept such as wood floors, doors and windows. Yet, we added in some more updated colors and to give the home a warm, cheery feel. The owners love that their home reflects the past as well as their current lives living there.

Sculptural furnishings echo original architectural curves in this living room. New window seat and bronze metallic walls enhance the bow window alcove. Strié paint finishes the main room walls, topped with curved plaster ceilings. Lisa scaled up a satellite image as bold art over the sofa, which inspired the jewel tone palette of velvets and linens. The building is a Will Bruder design from the mid 90's and owned & operated by Jackson Hole Title & Escrow. It's an interesting space with all angled walls, lots of glass & a center atrium that extends from the main level to the 3rd floor ceiling. My client wanted to soften the masculinity of the spaces and give it a vibrant fresh look. She has love for contemporary design, especially mid century modern and is always eager to push boundaries with her design choices. I used 'Cocobolo' paper from Flavor Paper as the starting point for pattern and color direction. 30" Satellite pendants from DWR hang on every level in the atrium and can be seen from all pathways.
