What was originally a small commission to redesign a master bath slowly expanded into a much greater scope, encompassing multiple redesign projects throughout the home, totaling 3,000 sq. ft., all executed with emblematic care and detailing. In the redesign of the 3rd floor master bath, an adjacent closet was absorbed adding crucial space to the layout which allowed for a clean and symmetrical new organization. A freestanding tub is the feature in the space sitting on a continuous stretch of brush textured tile which pulls the eye back and up the far wall. Behind the tub, a clear glass sheet tucks away the curbless shower and wall hung lavatory allowing the space to remain open. On the opposite wall, a custom walnut vanity and mirror sit over wood flooring continued from the adjacent bedroom. The bath entry is marked with new storage and a small sitting area. On the 2nd level, the existing living room was refinished with new lighting, a stunning fireplace, and refinished floors while a new bench-stair was created, connecting the existing dinging area to the living room while expanding areas for sitting and lounging. On the ground floor, a new guest suite was created with a feature wall to hide a TV and display art and books. A new opening was created to the rear garden, bringing in soothing views and eastern light through a retractable glass door system. The brushed white oak floors keep the space feeling cool and airy. In the adjacent guest bath, the custom walnut vanity mixes with a calming palate of green glass, white ceramic and brushed nickel fixtures.

Intentional. Elevated. Artisanal. With three children under the age of 5, our clients were starting to feel the confines of their Pacific Heights home when the expansive 1902 Italianate across the street went on the market. After learning the home had been recently remodeled, they jumped at the chance to purchase a move-in ready property. We worked with them to infuse the already refined, elegant living areas with subtle edginess and handcrafted details, and also helped them reimagine unused space to delight their little ones. Elevated furnishings on the main floor complement the home’s existing high ceilings, modern brass bannisters and extensive walnut cabinetry. In the living room, sumptuous emerald upholstery on a velvet side chair balances the deep wood tones of the existing baby grand. Minimally and intentionally accessorized, the room feels formal but still retains a sharp edge—on the walls moody portraiture gets irreverent with a bold paint stroke, and on the the etagere, jagged crystals and metallic sculpture feel rugged and unapologetic. Throughout the main floor handcrafted, textured notes are everywhere—a nubby jute rug underlies inviting sofas in the family room and a half-moon mirror in the living room mixes geometric lines with flax-colored fringe. On the home’s lower level, we repurposed an unused wine cellar into a well-stocked craft room, with a custom chalkboard, art-display area and thoughtful storage. In the adjoining space, we installed a custom climbing wall and filled the balance of the room with low sofas, plush area rugs, poufs and storage baskets, creating the perfect space for active play or a quiet reading session. The bold colors and playful attitudes apparent in these spaces are echoed upstairs in each of the children’s imaginative bedrooms. This Tuxedo Kitchen is the inspiration of our staff designer, Kathleen Anthony, when she recently designed and remodeled her very own dream kitchen. Both function and elegance come together in this black and white custom kitchen design. Her home is transformed by widening the doorway connecting the living room and kitchen space for maximum entertaining. The beautiful glass crystal and rustic elements in the chandelier complement the cabinetry as do the roman shade, the beaded hardware, kitchen stools and other accessories. The marble and silver mirror tile backsplash pairs well with the quartz countertop. Beauty meets function with select storage features including the appliance garage, spice pull-outs, and divider tray storage areas. Two islands allow for seating on one end and prep on the smaller island including a microwave drawer. The home decor from the living room tie into the theme softening the space while displaying pops of color.

Transitional, transitional, transitional. This kitchen renovation started with the appliances; BlueStar 36" range, Best 900 cfm hood, 2 Bosch dishwashers, and Electrolux side-by-side refrigeration. The appliances were placed utilizing functionality and practicality. The kitchen also utilizes a main Kraus sink and commercial faucet as well as a Kraus island sink with a Grohe kitchen pull-out facet matching and flanking a smaller Grohe faucet which utilizes a fresh water filtration system. White shaker cabinetry is the bulk of the kitchen accompanied by a custom grey raised panel element with chrome wire mesh accenting the glass doors. Custom open shelving niches were used to tie the white kitchen into the grey element, and at the same time creating another visual cue. Vicostone (quartz) accents the island which features the use of waterfall effect (continuing the counter-top material down to the floor). ColorQuartz (quartz) was used at the perimeter and on the grey accent piece as well, also using the waterfall effect. The backsplash was done in Turkish White Marble, as every piece was custom cut and laid in a vertical chevron pattern. Cliffside Industry hardware was used combining ice-box and linear finger-pull hardware on the grey accent piece, and cup-pulls and knobs on the perimeter which all pop while the chrome finish reflects the light and appears to sparkle. A decorative ceiling displays an abundance of 4" recess lighting with Halo Reflector trims as well as two decorative pendants. Accent lighting is completed in Hafele's 12volt system with the use of chrome LED puck lighting. The family room boasts another piece that melds with the kitchen, which displays two different width of bead board for another visual effect.

Master Bedroom with En-suite and Loft Reading Nook: This is a lovely rental chalet , overlooking coastal Rocky Harbor on the beautiful island of Newfoundland, Canada. The whole decorating concept is inspired the peaceful tranquility of its surroundings and the spectacular views of the ocean, harbor and town. The open concept is light and airy with a coastal, contemporary look. It has an art gallery feel as it displays art and canvas photos from Newfoundland artists. The living room, bathroom and entry showcases art from local Rocky Harbor artist Miranda Reid. The dining room displays the 'Grates Cove Iceberg' photo by Newfoundland photographer Eric Bartlett. The windows make you feel like you are living in the open air as you look out at the nature and coastal views surrounding this chalet. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, including a Master bedroom loft with its own en-suite and reading area with a peaceful view of the harbor. The accent walls and interior doors are painted with Benjamin Moore paint in Whale Grey. This creates an even flow of colors throughout this space . It boasts beautiful hardwood flooring and contemporary fixtures and decor throughout its interior that reflect a travelers urge to explore!

The before and after of this space is so satisfying. When you walked through the front door, the kitchen was closed off behind a wall that spanned the entire area. We removed that wall, and opened up the space to have a more inviting feel. Removing that wall meant we lessened the pantry and cupboard space, so we corrected that with an oversized island including seating, a peninsula with a beverage station, and a display cabinet utilized for stemware, to make up for that. Slab doors made with white oak and stained in a graphite color are the centerpiece of the area. Utilizing various colors of gold, including brushed gold, honey bronze, and champaign bronze we were able to compliment both the cabinets, and the stainless steel appliances A few great cabinet extras include an oversized spice roll out, a pantry roll out, a cookie sheet cabinet, and a functional blind corner pull out in the corner cabinet. Topping the cabinets is a beautiful quartz countertop that has the look and feel of marble. The appliances are all modern and sizable, with a 36” range and hood, a new convection speed oven, and a dual side by side 24” fridge, with a 18” freezer. The sink, made by Kohler, is an apron front single bowl style, with 2 faucets, a soap dispenser, and a push button garbage disposal switch built in. Outside of this amazing new kitchen, we also updated the entertainment center in the family room, with cabinetry to match the kitchen, and a Bardiglio marble surrounding, and we added a 72” aesthetic fireplace accent. The flooring throughout the space was updated using a “greige” commercially rated 16”x32” porcelain tile, then finished with an acrylic grout.

This home was a builder grade entry level home 22+ years ago, it has been transformed to the original owner's dream home. The kitchen is open to the family room and has very tall ceilings, but there was no way to extend the kitchen out. By going up, we were able to add much needed storage and utilize space already there. A custom cabinet above the refrigerator has vertical and horizontal storage to house cookie sheets, platters and even the turkey roasting pan all in the kitchen space. An appliance garage helps keep daily small appliances within reach without being on display. The tall kitchen commanded a more sophisticated range hood than a microwave. I designed a custom hood to better fit the space and bring in a little drama and sophistication to an elegant kitchen. Made of stained walnut with a natural walnut detail. Lighting control was important. Layered lighting to include accent, in cabinet, under cabinet, toe kick lighting all remote controlled and dimmable. The door activated in- cabinet lighting in the blind corner custom cabinet and the pantry make prepping easier. Pendants and canned lighting on dimmers. The pantry area got another layer of storage by adding another section above the existing utilizing dead space. Custom doors were made to match the cabinets on the L-shape. The island complements the clean angular lines of the range hood by matching the stained walnut slab look. It also houses the microwave/ convection oven allowing another oven in the kitchen without taking up extra room. The docking drawer allow for charging to take place without using counter space. The island also offers plugs on either side for usb and regular outlets hidden by the stone on the waterfall countertop. The open railing in walnut complements the kitchen. The Master bedroom drapery was designed to create the feeling of old world opulence. The base fabric is a woven patterned chenille, trimmed with silk velvet and silk tassels. An elaborate large silk tassel is used as a tie back to accentuate the trim and create the perfect puddle! Silk chiffon sheers in a butter cream color complete the treatment!

This client was so much fun to design for. Their project was all about color, texture and creating a master bedroom and guest bedroom that compliments their passion for traveling and eclectic style. We created a seating area in the master bedroom where the family can gather at night to read and spend time quality time. Their desire for deep color and bold pattern allowed us to create a casual space that is both warm and inviting at the end of a long day. Guests often visit and stay for a bit. They wanted to give their family and friends the same cozy feel in their guest bedroom. We were able to use a combination of patterns, textures and colors with our custom-made bedding and pillows. We also love to repurpose where we can and painted furniture is a great place to start. The depth of color used here is a true reflection of our clients' warm and friendly personality that says "welcome to our home." This kitchen remodel was designed by Gail from our Manchester showroom. This kitchen features Cabico Essence cabinets with maple wood, Cartago/K (raised panel) door style and Natural stain finish and Cacao glaze. This remodel also features Cambria quartz countertop, with Blackwood color and standard edge. The kitchen flooring is Armstrong 6”x48” vinyl plank click lock with Vivero collection and Apple Orchard color. The backsplash is Florida Tile Retro classic tile sheets with Mocha color and chocolate color grout by Mapei. Other features include Blanco double bowl sink with Anthracite color with two sink grids and basket strainers, the faucet and soap dispenser is by Moen in Flat Black finish. The cabinet hardware is knobs are by Amerock Hardware with Carmel Bronze finish. As part of the kitchen remodel, the customer added custom new French doors (60” x 80”) with weather-stripped Jam, colonial casing and brushed nickel casing hinges.

It is not uncommon for down2earth interior design to be tasked with the challenge of combining an existing kitchen and dining room into one open space that is great for communal cooking and entertaining. But what happens when that request is only the beginning? In this kitchen, our clients had big dreams for their space that went well beyond opening up the plan and included flow, organization, a timeless aesthetic, and partnering with local vendors. Although the family wanted all the modern conveniences afforded them by a total kitchen renovation, they also wanted it to look timeless and fit in with the aesthetic of their 100 year old home. So all design decisions were made with an eye towards timelessness, from the profile of the cabinet doors, to the handmade backsplash tiles, to the choice of soapstone for countertops, which is a beautiful material that is naturally heat resistant. The soapstone was strategically positioned so that the most stunning veins would be on display across the island top and on the wall behind the cooktop. Even the green color of the cabinet, and the subtle green-greys of the trim were specifically chosen for their softness so they will not look stark or trendy in this classic home. To address issues of flow, the clients really analyzed how they cook, entertain, and eat. We went well beyond the typical “kitchen triangle” to make sure all the hot spots of the kitchen were in the most functional locations within the space. Once we located the “big moves” we really dug down into the details. Some noteworthy ones include a whole wall of deep pantries with pull outs so all food storage is in one place, knives stored in a drawer right over the cutting boards, trash located right behind the sink, and pots, pans, cookie sheets located right by the oven, and a pullout for the Kitchenaid mixer. There are also pullouts that serve as dedicated storage next to the oven for oils, spices, and utensils, and a microwave located in the island which will facilitate aging in place if that becomes an objective in the future. A broom and cleaning supply storage closet at the top of the basement stairs coordinates with the kitchen cabinets so it will look nice if on view, or it can be hidden behind barn doors that tuck just a bit behind the oven. Storage for platters and a bar are located near the dining room so they will be on hand for entertaining. As a couple deeply invested in their local community, it was important to the homeowners to work with as many local vendors as possible. From flooring to woodwork to tile to countertops, choosing the right materials to make this project come together was a real collaborative effort. Their close community connections also inspired these empty nesters to stay in their home and update it to their needs, rather than relocating. These clients are empty nesters with grown children and several grandchildren living nearby. They love hosting family gatherings for special occasions and wanted a large space with durable materials and neutral, yet interesting finishes. The large island and perimeter countertop allow space for buffet-style get-togethers, while also feeling perfectly scaled to have breakfast for two from the counter stools. They wanted everything to be of lasting quality, but not feel too precious, so their grandchildren can still have fun running on the porcelain floors and baking on the quartz counters. The clients desired a cohesive space with the best materials, exhibiting a streamlined appeal that still felt welcoming and catered to all their storage needs. The surfaces are low maintenance for easy clean-up and sanitation. The clients wanted custom, solid-wood cabinetry with natural finishes, for an organic element and visual warmth. The design intent for this space was to create an open, serene Kitchen utilizing a functional layout, quality materials, and organic elements. The area is grounded by dark terrazzo-looking porcelain and uplifted by contrasting light fixtures. We wanted this room to be inviting through a variety of textures and layered lighting, as it is situated at the heart of the home. With custom cabinetry, the highest caliber appliances and thoughtful hardware, this Kitchen is sure to stand the test of time. Additionally, clients wanted to hide certain items in the kitchen, such as electronics, appliances, cookbooks, trash, and recycling. Storage for sheet trays, knifes, spices, cutlery and cooking utensils were required. Open display shelves for collectables from travels and an area for a coffee & smoothie bar were also desired. The island incorporates a hidden charging station for electronics, open shelving for cookbooks, while housing an instant hot and chilled water dispenser at the sink. The cabinetry also has a hidden trash and recycling center, specialty spice and cooking utensil pull-outs, drawers with custom inserts for knifes, cutting boards, cutlery, and tableware. An appliance garage allows room for the stand mixer and toaster to be out of sight, but within reach. A lighted coffee and smoothie bar were planned for the clients’ love of coffee and healthy nutrition. The island and floating shelves are made of oak panels with inlaid brass, adding a subtle touch of sparkle and warmth that highlights gold flecks in the island countertop.
