The renovated home features a master bedroom addition with windows designed to capture the views of the stunning site, a master bathroom with a lofted ceiling, walk-in shower and soaking tub, a new kitchen addition, and a 2nd floor bedroom expansion. The redesign also provided clarity to the entry sequence.

A transformation of a modest raised ranch into a modern oasis. I was the interior designer and general contractor from mechanicals to finishing. It’s also my personal home. The interior design style is that of modern minimalist meets organic modern. I wanted a space that reduced distractions and let the eyes, head, and soul rest. Where everything inside the home has a specific use and purpose. The objects in our home are fewer but each hold a great personal value. You might expect to see this airy aesthetic, with its gallery white walls, in California or New York. Not nestled in a modest 50 year old neighborhood in Omaha, Nebraska. Creating a minimal aesthetic is one of the trickiest design styles to pull off. It is more than just less stuff and lots of white. It means sticking to these design principals: -weaving in an abundance of textures -incorporating natural finishes -keenly curating art -giving extra attention to scale -limiting purely decorative items -maximizing natural light This style is not to be confused with the frugality of reductive design. I have incorporated many elevated basics that create an aesthetic of quiet luxury: -architectural bead for trim-less doors -first-of-its kind interior door hardware made of terrazzo -historical marble found in landmark interiors like the NY Public Library -premium flush air vents that disappear out of site -luxury appliances from GE Café and Signature -elegant and resilient terrazzo field tiles Ours was not a simple interior remodel and addition: -gutted and remodeled the existing 2,000 SF -added on approximately another 1,000 SF -moved and installed all new major mechanicals i.e. heating, plumbing and electrical. -knocked through foundation walls to extend the space back -dug down and built up

Need For Build did an outstanding job modifying the side yard of our house. The job included clearing large sections of dirt, building a 3' by 50' retaining wall, and installing pavers. The cost estimate came in thousands less than the others I received for the same work. They started on schedule and had a time estimate of 2 to 3 weeks, but they actually finished in only 8 working days. They were very flexible and made changes to the plan at my request as the job proceeded. The work crews were all very polite and helpful; they cleaned up each day and left the final site looking excellent. Another good point is that David was both the salesperson and the project manager so he showed up every day to make sure the progress matched my expectations - I've had other company's sales people disappear once the sale has been made, but not David!

Complementary Benjamin Moore paint harmonized the space with the stainless steel appliances. Elegant lighting fixtures, including a West Elm Mobile Chandelier and an Everly Quinn 8-Light Crystal Sputnik Sphere Chandelier, brought a sophisticated flair, perfect for daily living and entertaining. Before breaking ground, we meticulously planned every aspect, ensuring the materials and brands would meet aesthetic desires and withstand the test of time. Top-of-the-line appliances, such as a KitchenAid gas range and fully integrated dishwasher, ensured the kitchen was both beautiful and functional. Every detail extended to the rest of the home. The laundry room combined practicality with style, featuring Architectural Surfaces tiles, Bravada Hardwood flooring, and sleek KES hardware. In the master bathroom, we created a serene retreat with Green Needle Laminated panels, Kohler fixtures, and United Tile Fez by WOW tiles, transforming it into a luxurious sanctuary. Consistent Bravada Hardwood flooring throughout the home added cohesiveness, while thoughtful touches like NearMoon fixtures enhanced the spa-like ambiance. The exterior was equally well-planned. Benjamin Moore paint highlighted architectural features, and custom doors and Milgard Windows welcomed natural light while connecting the indoors to the surrounding beauty. Outdoor spaces were designed as extensions of the home, featuring a hot tub, BBQ area, and EV charging station. Throughout the process, we worked hand-in-hand with the family, ensuring every detail aligned with their vision. The Branch residence is a private home located on Bassi Ranch, designed for Clifford and Lynette Branch. The California Coastal design incorporated stucco, stone, and steel. Soaring volumes and intricate detailing merge the talents of the architect, Steven Puglisi, with the owner’s desire for a timeless design that effortlessly nestles into the landscape. “The Bassi Ranch development consists of 24 residences located within a 220 acre parcel in Avila Valley, approximately six miles from San Luis Obispo. As the original developer of the project in the mid 1990s, my wife and I desired to have our own residence constructed on one of the parcels. The site we selected in Bassi Ranch had a wonderful view but the designated building envelope was steep and it appeared that there was very little “usable” land. I had previously worked with Mr. Puglisi on commercial projects, and again turned to Mr. Puglisi for our residential design work, as I had long-admired other residences that his firm had created. What impressed me most was that Steve and his staff listened carefully to our personal ideas and came back with a design that surpassed our expectations.
