Engineered cedar siding creates beautiful gray-blue tones at the exterior of the home, while adding a textural element to activate the simple exterior design.

Designed in collaboration with Cameo Kitchens, “Fusion — The Kitchen of Tomorrow” exhibits how technology and design work in perfect harmony. The backsplash is an interactive panel consisting of three HD monitors, which allow multi-functionality: enjoying a favourite scene, Skyping with family and friends, viewing cooking videos or recipes, browsing websites and social media, displaying children’s artwork, or presenting a slideshow of family photos. If sports are the preference, watching three events simultaneously is simple. The raised breakfast bar is made of semi-precious stone, which is backlit with LED panels to complement the luxe high-gloss walnut and white lacquer cabinetry. Interior illumination is activated at a touch of the automated servo drive doors and drawers. The kitchen design won a Luxury Portfolio, “Best of the Best” Award from Robb Report.

The client initially contacted us because the Master Bathroom needed to be repaired, and from there the project transformed into a whole house remodel, fulfilling a dream the homeowners had since moving into the house 17 years ago. The entire house was filled with wallpaper, and the cabinets were built at a larger 42" height for taller homeowners (you'll want to check out the Before & Afters at the end of the slideshow). When approaching the remodel, the client asked our Designer to create a couple of material options to present to her for each area of the house; Kitchen, Master Bathroom, and Utility Room. Through design meetings, the Designer and the Homeowner collaborated to create these beautiful selections that have completely transformed the look of the house.

The previous front porch — captured in the “before” photos of the slideshow — was puzzling. The owner of this two-family home in New Bedford wasn’t sure how it had evolved, but both the first- and second-floor porch levels appeared to have been added on top of previous porches, which made for very curious enclosing guardrails. When the owner approached KHS, she was ready to completely remove the haphazard porches and start fresh with something more in keeping with her American Foursquare-style home. The new porches allow more daylight to reach the interior at both levels, while maintaining privacy from the street with guardrails containing paneled piers and tightly spaced balusters. New wide steps that have lower riser heights set the stage for a gracious entry. Since low maintenance materials were a priority for this homeowner, much of the porch is comprised of Azek trim elements. The porch decking is mahogany. New tapered posts and a gently sloped upper-porch roof meet the inset upper-level guardrail in a manner reminiscent of some of the more traditional porch treatments in the neighborhood. Transforming the porches has transformed this home’s curb appeal.
