The shower wrapped with a blend of large-scale, porcelain tiles, a feature wall with mosiac porcelain, glass, and marble tiles , and a limestone slab for the bench seat. The shower niche is an attractive way to hold bottles and soap in an open shower. The warm color palette encompasses the overall style of the modern home.

The honey toned bathroom is an homage to bees and butterflies in this pollinator suite, a walk-in work of art for finding peace and beauty. Moth handles add warmth and whimsy to a custom vanity and matching mirror made in collaboration with a local artisan using locally salvaged sycamore. The artisan made sink is forged from hand hammered recycled copper. Vintage Limburg sconces with a pattern reminiscent of honeycombs gives off a golden glow over textured ceramic tiles. The overhead lighting also nods to honeycombs, leading to an inviting copper hued shower. The custom honeycomb tiles were made with Giallo Sienna marble, and inlaid with decorative bees. Copper tiles line a magical, shimmery shower space with a honey glow. Oil rubbed bronze accessories hold soaps and plantlife.

Hillcrest Construction designed and executed a complete facelift for these West Chester clients’ master bathroom. The sink/toilet/shower layout stayed relatively unchanged due to the limitations of the small space, but major changes were slated for the overall functionality and aesthetic appeal. The bathroom was gutted completely, the wiring was updated, and minor plumbing alterations were completed for code compliance. Bathroom waterproofing was installed utilizing the state-of-the-industry Schluter substrate products, and the feature wall of the shower is tiled with a striking blue 12x12 tile set in a stacked pattern, which is a departure of color and layout from the staggered gray-tome wall tile and floor tile. The original bathroom lacked storage, and what little storage it had lacked practicality. The original 1’ wide by 4’ deep “reach-in closet” was abandoned and replaced with a custom cabinetry unit that featured six 30” drawers to hold a world of personal bathroom items which could pulled out for easy access. The upper cubbie was shallower at 13” and was sized right to hold a few spare towels without the towels being lost to an unreachable area. The custom furniture-style vanity, also built and finished at the Hillcrest custom shop facilitated a clutter-free countertop with its two deep drawers, one with a u-shaped cut out for the sink plumbing. Considering the relatively small size of the bathroom, and the vanity’s proximity to the toilet, the drawer design allows for greater access to the storage area as compared to a vanity door design that would only be accessed from the front. The custom niche in the shower serves and a consolidated home for soap, shampoo bottles, and all other shower accessories. Moen fixtures at the sink and in the shower and a Toto toilet complete the contemporary feel. The controls at the shower allow the user to easily switch between the fixed rain head, the hand shower, or both. This transitional style kitchen design in Northville, MI is truly the heart of the home. Situated next to the home’s entrance, and adjacent to the dining and living areas, this kitchen will be the natural focal point of family life. The tone for this bright kitchen is defined by the Crystal Cabinets frameless Meadowland style door in simply white painted finish. The classic white cabinetry is offset by a gray quartz countertop and Alyse Edwards Half Baked Collection tile in “Icing on the Cake”. The bi-level peninsula separates the kitchen work zones from the entry hall and includes a round tabletop end with barstool seating for casual dining. The peninsula incorporates a 5’ Galley Workstation with an undermount sink and a Signature Accessory Package that has dual tier cutting boards, bowls, colanders, and a drain rack. The sink area also has Brizo Artesso Smartouch faucets, a Pedalworks Faucet Controller, and a Brizo Artesso soap dispenser. This galley style kitchen design includes ample storage in the main wall cabinets and the peninsula, and space saving measures like the built-in undercabinet microwave. The space is well lit by natural light through the large windows, as well as recessed lighting, pendants over the peninsula, and a chandelier in the dining area.
