We removed a drop ceiling that was added sometime in the last 50 years to restore the ceiling height to original. The full size 18x18 tiles make a great impact, allowing the room to look larger and are nice and easy to clean.

What isn't to love about this powder room. The above counter sink with angular cabinetry. Striking. When it comes to renovations, sometimes it takes some creativity to get form and function to meet.

Blueberry-like fruit of the Chinese Fringe tree.
The fruits are reportedly edible for humans, too, especially if pickled (Chionanthus is a member of the olive family, Oleaceae) though I have never tried them. ... Chionanthus retusus is native to China and thus sometimes called Chinese fringetree.

This fine set of cabinetry is made with European Beech wood. Sometimes known as the ‘queen of British trees’, the European beech is one of the most common trees in parks, forests and woodlands across Britain. Sometimes it really comes in handy to be an interior designer. When a giant hole had been created to fix their sewer line, the Watsons realized they could plumb for the bathroom--right then. Bret Ashlee drew the designs for the new master bath and laundry area (housed in the closet, left) overnight.

Not every room is going to have the perfect dimensions for achieving an easy, balanced look. Sometimes, you have to fight a bit harder for it. In this narrow bedroom, there were few options for furniture arrangement. An off-centred window, and a box build-out made the bed placement look awkward.
ENTER THE FOCAL POINT! - The superhero of this project.
Creating a centred focal point behind the bed with printed and pleated curtains, ensures the eye immediately goes to where we want it. Textured pillows with significant visual weight keep the viewer’s gaze focused on the centre of the room instead of noticing the asymmetry beyond.
Hanging some simple plants on either side of the curtains to balance the two sides creates a visual stopping-point, and distracts from the unbalanced window placement and wall box.
Sometimes the most difficult spaces are the most fun to design.
