Our clients are always teaching us. In this case, our clients had a vision that changed the direction of the design process midstream. Often our clients tell us they have trouble visualizing. This time, we must admit, we had a little trouble visualizing how their big idea was better than what we were planning. And then, it clicked!
This young family of five had outgrown their dark and dated kitchen. Food prep, cooking and baking play a large daily role in this home. Pantry storage was overflowing to the point where bulk ingredients, small appliances and other daily necessities were stored in a nearby closet and the laundry room at the end of the house. Counter space was scarce. The kitchen also served as an office area for the husband, who works from home, and a study area for the three school age children. Given some constraints and a fixed budget, our inclination was to work with the existing kitchen to design a much more efficient space, keeping it close to the laundry room/pantry, which could be maximized for convenient storage and access. We would create an organized work area within the kitchen as well. Our clients were happy with the design. Then, out of the blue, they announced that they would like to move the kitchen into the family room space! Our first reaction was to question how this could work being so far from the pantry storage areas, and the other living spaces of the home. The flow seemed as though it would be odd, but we heard them out and allowed some time for the idea to blossom. And blossom, it did. The existing kitchen and eating space became the new study and family room with enlarged windows and an added sliding door bringing their beautiful gardens into clear sight. The pantry dilemma was solved by adding a full wall of tall cabinetry with roll out storage flanking a beautiful fireplace. A large island with waterfall sides provides copious counter space and seating for the whole family. Dark, dated traditional styling of the past kitchen gave way to contemporary high gloss white and warm rosewood elements. The dramatic Dekton Aura backsplash is the icing on the cake!

About us:
Tom Williamson Landscaping, Inc.
Simple. Elegant. Landscaping.
Whether you’re modeling your home into your creative inspiration place, your entertainment haven, or your read-a-book and recharge oasis, a landscaper is the person that you SHOULD pick with your emotions. A robust climbing garden, a mystical natural pathway, or a soothing waterfall-into-the-pool is finished when it feels PERSONAL.
Years of training and horticultural education doesn’t teach how to capture, build and own an emotion — it enhances our natural abilities. When comparing landscaping professionals, a few things need to be considered; do they process the ability to design your vision, the muscle to deliver on the plans, and whether they can provide the WOW factor in which great landscaper recognize as standard. The landscaper that will satisfy every client every time is the one with these characteristics.
Welcome to Tom Williamson Landscaping. We design ‘an experience’ not only through years of engineering our mixtures and techniques, but as understanding and working in symmetrical balance in eye-catching plant bed diversity, refreshing 3-season-blooming wrap gardens, and aged garden large tree installation — to name a few. Enjoyment of your gardens is really what you’re shopping for. Shop our gallery and see if it pushes your enjoyment button.

Salvaged as part of a collection of classroom maps from the Eastern Washington Teaching University, these mid-century scroll-down maps were drawn for and distributed by one of the most trusted map, globe and chart companies in American history: Denoyer-Geppert of Chicago, IL. This inviting space, warmly-lit by a 1940's Crouse Hinds prismatic pendant, features everything you need to explore the world from the comfort of your own inner sanctum.

A large south-facing suburban front lawn was converted into an edible garden that doubles as a dynamic and functional threshold to the front entryway of the home. The client, a young family with 2 small children, needed the space to remain relatively low maintenance and act as a teaching tool for the kids. The stone and timber raised beds and simple pathways help contain the gardening spaces and maintain clear lines to move through the site, whether it be to the front door, the driveway, or another part of the garden.
Layered around the clean, simple lines of the terraced garden are more organic spaces that are planted with perennial beneficial and edible flowers and along the fence line is a single sweep of lavender.

The fishing pond at this project’s home ranch is down a steep slope, some distance from the main compound. To providing shelter from fast-moving storms, a lunch spot, or just a great place for a nap, the owners asked us to design a small fishing cabin. To ensure it blended in to its environment as much as possible, we chose indigenous materials—such as boulders displaced by mining and local reclaimed timbers—to help solidify the connection between the structure and the site. A sod roof seeded with native grasses and resident wildflowers further connects this structure to its surroundings.
Now the fishing cabin is the favorite place for teaching the grandkids how to fish, or for a summer afternoon swim, or simply for reading a good book in front of the crackling fireplace.

The client is a Stampin' Up demonstrator and needed a space to organize all of her supplies so they were easily accessible and allows her to focus on the creative process. A large work surface gives her plenty of room to spread out while working on a project or teaching stamping techniques.

This bold entryway swathed in beautiful Sherwin Williams Sommelier is not only moody but filled with pizzazz. Painting the walls, ceiling, doors and trim in one color creates a monochromatic look that is thoughtfully unique. In this space you'll find a modern, textured crystal light fixture providing ambient lighting to show off an eclectic gallery wall filled with personal and inspirational photos. Framed in brass, natural wood and black frames, the sizes of each photo vary as to create an eye catching and visually interesting element on the main wall.

This client desired a multifunctional space to use for her daily yoga practice and private teaching sessions along with a cozy spot for her family to watch movies and guests to spend the weekend. We first started by lightening the walls with a creamy white paint, then added a focal point with an accent wallpaper and upgraded to a modern sleek ceiling fan. With the addition of a guest bed disguised in this elegant cabinet, cozy futon chairs, black out shades and flowing sheer curtains we checked off all the boxes for this amazing space.

Sometimes you just have to go all in for Christmas and our Musical Nutcracker stands nearly 5 ft. tall and ready to delight one and all. This stalwart soldier will never be called upon to crack a cashew, instead he will greet your guests with quite a show. Front lighting illuminates the drum, belt, coat, and crown. An array of 15 multi-colored lights synchronized with a selection of eight classic Christmas carols including "Jingle Bells," "We Wish You a Merry Christmas," and more, all while his hands move to the music – he's a perfect greeter for one and all. Other thoughtful features include a generous 63" power cord and volume control. Wonderfully detailed, brightly painted and sturdily constructed of element-defying materials.
