The addition of an updated entry porch with red painted trim creates a welcoming focal point.
WKD’s experience in historic preservation and antique curation restored this gentleman’s farm into a casual, comfortable, livable home for the next chapter in this couple’s lives.
The project included a new family entrance and mud room, new powder room, and opening up some of the rooms for better circulation. While WKD curated the client’s existing collection of art and antiques, refurbishing where necessary, new furnishings were also added to give the home a new lease on life.
Working with older homes, and historic homes, is one of Wilson Kelsey Design’s specialties.

Modernism and traditionalism are just steps away from each other at this Vienna Virginia pool house. The main house, built by a national homebuilder, draws upon tradition, but the pool house, speaks the language of contemporary minimalism. It presents clean lines and a soaring roofline overhanging tall glass doors and clerestory windows. Great design, careful attention to detail, first-rate materials and impeccable craftsmanship have yielded a spectacular solution for outdoor entertaining. With a fireplace and every conceivable convenience under roof, this pool house might just be the perfect escape for inclement weather as well.

This Master Bathroom was dated, dark, and in dire need of an overhaul. Our clients were inspired by a vacation home and wanted black and white basket-weave tile and tiled wainscoting. We used traditional plumbing fixtures, cabinets, and finishes that would complement the tile. We modernized the shower with dual shower heads, DTV, and teak seat. Detailed tile plans were executed to ensure the tile was impeccably installed throughout. This bath was further enhanced with added lighting and radiant heat flooring. This renovation came together beautifully and our clients are thrilled with their classically elegant new master bathroom. Design by: Hatfield Builders | Photography by: Travis G Lilley

The key to making this small balcony inviting for evening entertaining was installing smart outdoor LED lights that can be controlled with a smart phone. They are perfect for highlighting architectural features like the carved panel and they create a wonderful ambiance. You can purchase these lights on amazon.com ( http://amzn.to/1YdmxaK)

On the top floor Anna and Brian each have large offices separated by a Jack and Jill bath and walk in closets. The outdoor balcony on the second floor provides a sitting area with a great valley view and a quatrefoil opening at the end that targets the lush California greenery. Matching barbed quatrefoil windows are also to be found in the kitchen and master wardrobe area. Ceramic murals and pieces of Brian and Anna’s art collection are encountered at key points around the perimeter of the house and also within the house. The roof is a classic clay tile roof with half round copper gutters and round downspouts. The rounded entry turret has deeply inset windows reminiscent of early adobe construction. Chosen by the owners, a boutique in Santa Barbara carefully crafted the black wrought iron lanterns used throughout the house.

This bright mudroom has a beadboard ceiling and a black slate floor. We used trim, or moulding, on the walls to create a paneled look, and cubbies above the window seat. Shelves, the window seat bench and coat hooks provide storage.
The main projects in this Wayne, PA home were renovating the kitchen and the master bathroom, but we also updated the mudroom and the dining room. Using different materials and textures in light colors, we opened up and brightened this lovely home giving it an overall light and airy feel. Interior Designer Larina Kase, of Wayne, PA, used furniture and accent pieces in bright or contrasting colors that really shine against the light, neutral colored palettes in each room.

Kitchen Craftsmen created this amazing Scandinavian styled kitchen and laundry for the Ferguson Family featuring Essastone Australia Carrara Matt bench tops that are scratch, stain and chemical resistant.
Our favourite part is the Franke Australia Fragranite Sink in Onyx and the low-level cabinet fronts in Graphite Grey Createc by Polytec, which expertly contrast the light wooden floors and Natural Oak Ravine cabinets also by Polytec.
Just when you thought you’d seen all this kitchen has to offer, inside the cabinets and drawers you will find an ultra-modern black texture finish, a great little touch that is sure to impress even your most discerning guests.
