On the left, vertical fluted slats plus hollow wood screens combine to build a three-dimensional artistic feature wall, decorated with dried pampas grass decor and abstract wooden floor sculpture to elevate soft furnishing taste. Sheer curtains on dual-side windows maximize natural daylight, breaking rigid conventional living room design and suiting young homeowners’ needs for daily movie nights and unwinding.

Home Remodeling Project Overview This extensive home remodeling project transformed a dated and inefficient layout into a functional, open, and aesthetically cohesive living space. The original layout had several challenges: • A kitchen with limited storage, no cabinets on the window side, a sink facing the wall, and a range crammed into the corner. The pantry closet was too deep and impractical. • A living room that couldn’t accommodate furniture without interfering with traffic flow. • A front foyer with wasted space. • A claustrophobic hallway toilet room without a sink, located near the laundry room. The Remodeling Concept The scope of this project extended well beyond the kitchen. We proposed several layout options to address issues in all adjacent spaces, ultimately implementing a plan that: • Removed two walls and moved doorways. • Replaced the kitchen window. • Converted the hallway toilet room into a storage space. • Installed pocket doors to separate the laundry hallway from the living room. Kitchen Transformation • Open Concept: By removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room, the two spaces became a seamless open area. • New Layout: Cabinets were relocated to the window side for more storage and natural light. A central island with storage and seating was added, and a coffee bar was installed in the dining room. • Updated Pantry: The deep pantry closet was converted into a pullout pantry with a cabinet front for better accessibility. • Design Details: Off-white kitchen cabinets pair beautifully with a light green island. Warm white quartz counters and an artisan tile backsplash complete the look. Dining Room • Expanded Space: Most of the wall separating the dining room and foyer was removed, creating a more spacious area while still accommodating all furniture thanks to careful measurements. Living Room Improvements • Optimized Layout: Moving doorways and installing pocket doors allowed for better furniture placement, including a sofa that doesn’t interfere with traffic flow. • Fireplace Upgrade: The brick fireplace was updated with a three-dimensional staggered stone veneer in a color matching the kitchen cabinets, creating a cohesive look. A TV was installed above the fireplace at a comfortable viewing angle. Additional Updates • New Flooring: All remodeled rooms now feature updated flooring. • Ceilings: Popcorn ceilings were replaced with smooth, flat finishes, complemented by recessed lighting. • Walls: Fresh paint throughout the space, with an accent wall in the living room matching the light green of the kitchen island. • Lighting: Stylish sconces were added for a touch of elegance. The Result The homeowners are thrilled with the transformation, marveling at how their once cramped and inefficient home now feels spacious, functional, and beautifully cohesive. They can’t believe their house could ever look like this!

From Fuller / Overby: “The site for the Nebo House is a long, narrow plot in the Appalachian foothills that slopes downward to Lake James. The main floor is embedded into the hillside, like a hunter’s blind, with a central courtyard splitting the primary program into two wings. To the east of the courtyard are social areas and to the west is a private sleeping and bathing suite—day and night. A hall which acts as a mechanical and structural spine along the rear retaining wall connects the private and public spaces. The larger, public zones of the interior radiate outward from the courtyard and gradually break up into more intimate niches around the periphery that provide semi-private moments within the open living areas. Views are focused outward to the lake, while southern light filters in from clerestory windows above. A sculpted cantilever staircase slices upward to the entry and guest rooms, forming a continuous three dimensional void capped by a skylight at its peak. Above grade, the house appears as a cluster of small pavilions along the hillside, framing the lake and mountains beyond.”

A beautiful modern yet simplistic master bathroom design per our clients specifications. The light grey floor tile created a calm and soothing atmosphere. The floor tile seamlessly flows into an open shower, creating a sense of continuity and a spacious feel. The open shower adorned with three-dimensional wall tiles added depth and texture to the space. A chrome shower rain head and shower wand were chosen to produce a luxurious and refreshing shower experience. To enhance the visual appeal of the shower, a linear shower drain design was incorporated, giving the illusion of water draining into the wall. This sleek and sharp design element added a contemporary touch to the bathroom. Completing the master bathroom, a double floating vanity was installed to maintain a clean and minimalist aesthetic. Additionally, a wall-mounted lavatory was used to further emphasize the modern and streamlined design of the bathroom.

This home remodel was all about creating a modern oasis for easy entertaining and family life while accentuating the existing architecture of the home. It was critical to harmonize the kitchen with the remainder of the home and we achieved that by bringing a fresh and clean palette throughout the entry, living and kitchen areas. Every aspect of this design was thoughtfully curated in the best interest of the structure of the home and the desires of our clients. We highlighted the negative wall space by adding a textured three dimensional tile to the entire back wall. To balance, we added an asymmetric lower bank of storage with open pockets for easy access. We blended a fine linen veneer that provides a soft contrast to the back wall cabinets and the island. For additional visual interest we added a grey wood veneer to complete the remainder of the space. To continue the theme of harmony we needed to open up the divider wall between the living and kitchen, without removing it- as it was a critical structural shear wall. To problem solve, we mirrored the vaulted architecture of the kitchen in the opening to add consistency throughout the space. The result: A crisp and contemporary aesthetic guests are sure to be WOW’d by.

Two workspaces, ample hidden and open storage, a space for a large TV, and a reading-lounge area was the large order for this small space. Adding to the challenge was a full french door and two large windows taking up the longest walls in the room topped off by an odd corner build out on the remaining two walls. The solution: wrap the walls in storage (virtually hiding the odd corner build out), using the full height of the walls for storage. Add a two sided peninsulas desk along with a hidden computer desk leaving ample open space to place a lounge chair and side table. The TV, not currently shown in the room, can be placed in large open shelf area for viewing from the lounge chair or desk area. The results…one hard working office that will make any task worth tacking, feel like a pleasure!

This homeowner was due for a primary bathroom remodel, and we were thrilled to help! The layout remained unchanged as it was practically laid out. We focused on adding vanity storage by adding a tall linen cabinet to the left of the sink. The floating style vanity adds an airiness to the space while still offering tons of storage. The dark stained cabinetry grounds the room in a warm, natural element. The light quartz countertops contain a hint of blue, which ties in beautifully with the pop of color from the shower floor tile. The shower wall tiles remain neutral, while a three-dimensional tile was used on the long wall to add visual interest and accentuate the vaulted ceiling. Simple, elegant plumbing fixtures finish off the space with delicate curves. The end result is a contemporary space, perfectly balanced by light and dark elements, with just the right amount of color.

LANCER Keramik table The Lancer family of modern design tables boasts a sculptural, majestic, and unparalleled style. What makes Lancer a unique and precious model is the base with a strong architectural value, enlivened by a punchy graphic sign. Four blades cut through the air and intersect each other, creating an energetic composition with an apparently irreproducible pattern. Each leg is designed with a T-section, which multiplies the opportunities for crossing and overlapping. The entire base is thus strengthened by a rhythmic chiaroscuro effect, in which the blind zones contrast with the metal portions struck by the light. The bold aesthetic, unafraid of attracting attention, extends to several variants. The standard model is made of transparent glass, allowing you to appreciate the sculptural base in its entirety. The Lancer Moon glass model, in contrast, is a modern decorated glass table with a three-dimensional bronze finish, irregular to the touch, which the designer imagines as a satellite to be explored. Finally, the Lancer Keramik and Lancer Wood versions are respectively a ceramic table model and one with a precious wooden top, with finely worked edges. Completed in two phases, the kitchen in this home was first overhauled and the wall separating it from the dining room was torn down. The structure, hidden in the boxed ceiling, compliments the original details as they were woven into this new great room. New sliding doors replacing the relocated bathroom at the rear beckon one to the garden. This created the palette for the owner to tailor the finishes exquisitely. The resplendent marble counter top is the heart of their tasteful new living space, ideal for entertaining. For phase two, the owner commissioned ONE Design to flood the upper level of the home with light. The owner, inspired by her rural upbringing in Humboldt, wished to draw inspiration from this and her Eichler-like grandparent’s home. ONE Design vaulted the ceilings to create an open soaring roof and provide a clean three dimensional canvass. Adding skylights which bathe the clean walls in an ever changing light show was the centerpiece of this transformation. Transom windows over the bedroom doors offer additional light to the interior circulation space. Enlarged windows combine the owner’s desire to live in a “glass house,” while paying respect to the Edwardian heritage of the home and providing expansive views of the meadow-like garden oasis. The cherry on top is the attic retreat, adding a north facing dormer that peeks at the Golden Gate Bridge offers a serene perch — perfect escapism for a creative writer!
