This kitchen remodel is a stunning example of how cabinet refacing can completely redefine a space. Our clients wanted a fresh, modern look with a bit of warmth and personality, and this two-tone design delivered exactly that.
The upper cabinets feature reeded doors in rich American Walnut, adding texture and depth that draw the eye upward. To balance the look, the lower cabinets were refaced in a crisp Pacific finish with classic Shaker doors, bringing a cool, modern contrast to the warmth above.
The combination of tones and textures creates a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere — proof that a refacing project can look every bit as custom and high-end as a full renovation. The result? Simply amazing.

This compact mid 50's story and a half needed new life in both the kitchen and the main floor bath. While expanding the footprint wasn't really a viable option, restructuring the layout and removing two walls made all the difference. Of course with any major demo and rethink, new surfaces carried a lot of the design impact. Still, since space was a big issue, considerable effort was placed on designing maximum storage over every square inch of cabinet space. For instance, both sides of the new peninsula were designed to accommodate massive storage potential. The "mudroom" bench opens up to store all boots, hats and mittens or sandals and sporting equipment.
"Sometimes, I find myself just sitting in my kitchen, and I can't believe this is mine," says the homeowner. Take a look at the before photos and you'll agree. The transformation is pretty darn dramatic.

An intimate understanding of the clients led to the immaculate renovation of this Baltimore County project by Penza Bailey Architects. After conducting a feasibility study to assist the clients in selecting the right home, the firm got to work, removing traditional trim and dated finishes to craft a contemporary retreat. In addition to cosmetic upgrades, the home received a four-foot addition to expand the living and dining rooms, now with expansive windows overlooking the new resort style pool, cabana, and complementing pool house perfect for summer gatherings or solo swims. Inside, a four-foot expansion enhances the open-concept floor plan. Contemporary finishes, like the wide plank flooring, outfit the more casual office located in the pool house and complement the main home’s aesthetic.

Interior design, space planning and architectural details converge thoughtfully in this transformative project. A 15-year old, 9,000 sf. home with generic interior finishes and odd layout needed bold, modern, fun and highly functional transformation for a large bustling family. To redefine the soul of this home, texture and light were given primary consideration. Elegant contemporary finishes, a warm color palette and dramatic lighting defined modern style throughout. A cascading chandelier by Stone Lighting in the entry makes a strong entry statement. Walls were removed to allow the kitchen/great/dining room to become a vibrant social center. A minimalist design approach is the perfect backdrop for the diverse art collection. Yet, the home is still highly functional for the entire family. We added windows, fireplaces, water features, and extended the home out to an expansive patio and yard.
The cavernous beige basement became an entertaining mecca, with a glowing modern wine-room, full bar, media room, arcade, billiards room and professional gym.
Bathrooms were all designed with personality and craftsmanship, featuring unique tiles, floating wood vanities and striking lighting.

With a limited budget, we were able to transform and update this front garden with a new modern pathway, a small patio, and a variety of low-water and low-maintenance plants. I included a selection of plants that provide a variety of heights, colors and textures, such as Goodwin Creek Lavender, New Zealand Wind Grass, Bulbine frutescens 'Hallmark', Euphorbia characias and the ground cover Sedum rupestre 'Angelina' with chartreuse foliage. © Eileen Kelly, Dig Your Garden Landscape Design
