Renovation and addition to existing house built in 1920's. The front entry room is the original house - renovated - and we added 1600 sf to bring the total up to 2100 sf. The house features an open floor plan, large windows and plenty of natural light considering this is a dense, urban neighborhood.

Mixing modern and rustic for an updated Tuscan feel on this typical suburban staircase The look was created with store bought rugs stapled to the stairs to form a runner. The carpet rods are just cafe rods, screwed in place at the ends. Photo: Lauren Rubinstein

This light-filled transitional kitchen blends timeless materials with warm, custom details. Full-height Carrara marble tile creates a classic backdrop, complemented by walnut floating shelves and a walnut-clad range hood for added depth and warmth. Crisp white cabinetry is paired with a custom gray-green island, while Hartmann & Forbes woven window shades introduce natural texture, creating a space that feels both elegant and inviting. This is a different view of the tea house. The low bamboo fence helps to define the relation of the tea house to the garden. The ridge roof architectural style (kirizuma) is very evident in this photo. The roof has layered cedar shingles and is topped at the ridge with Japanese ceramic tiles.

If visitors to Robyn and Allan Webb’s one-bedroom Miami apartment expect the typical all-white Miami aesthetic, they’ll be pleasantly surprised upon stepping inside. There, bold theatrical colors, like a black textured wallcovering and bright teal sofa, mix with funky patterns,
such as a black-and-white striped chair, to create a space that exudes charm. In fact, it’s the wife’s style that initially inspired the design for the home on the 20th floor of a Brickell Key high-rise. “As soon as I saw her with a green leather jacket draped across her shoulders, I knew we would be doing something chic that was nothing like the typical all- white modern Miami aesthetic,” says designer Maite Granda of Robyn’s ensemble the first time they met. The Webbs, who often vacation in Paris, also had a clear vision for their new Miami digs: They wanted it to exude their own modern interpretation of French decor.
“We wanted a home that was luxurious and beautiful,”
says Robyn, noting they were downsizing from a four-story residence in Alexandria, Virginia. “But it also had to be functional.”

This residence boasts many amazing features, but one that stands out in specific is the dual sided fireplace clad in Eldorado Stone’s Black River Stacked Stone. Adding stone to the fireplace automatically creates a dramatic focal point and compliments the interior decor by mixing natural and artificial elements, contrasting colors, as well as incorporating a variety of textures. By weaving in stone as architectural accents throughout the the home, the interior and the exterior seamlessly flow into one another and the project as a whole becomes an architectural masterpiece.
