We recently finished this basement for a client and ran into a challenge when we reached this section of the room. Plumbing + 2 supports with concrete bases couldn’t be moved. If we boxed them in, it would make everything too tight and unusable. Since this client LOVES trains, we decided to get creative. The result – a custom train table to go around the columns. We even had enough scrap material to add to one of the walls so the client could hand a dart board. Talk about a fun basement!

A fresh start created a connected space that makes sense in this Arlington (Shirlington), VA condo. The old kitchen was tired and outdated and felt cut off from the rest of the living area. The homeowner's collection of glassware and art was lost in the busyness. While the footprint remained essentially the same, smart touches were added throughout to maximize the functionality and aesthetic. The manmade Quartz counter material continued up the walls for a stunning backsplash look. An enlarged cabinet above the refrigerator transformed that space from unused to functional. An LG double oven range was added to the space of a conventional range. Giant drawers in the peninsula make accessing sullies a breeze. On the back of the peninsula, a cabinet was added in previously wasted space. The cabinetry is Durasupreme with a shaker door style. The lowers are a Lucious Cherry in Dark Stain and the uppers are painted a soft grey. The hardwood floors from the main living area are now carried into the kitchen. New Led slim profile lighting, including stunning geometric LED pendants brighten up the space. The result is a bright kitchen that cohesively brings the living space together and highlights the homeowner’s collected art and glassware.

The existing deck fell victim to a very damp environment in a wooded area. It was in a state of disrepair and the wood had succumbed to rot in various places, making it unstable and unusable. The homeowner opted for Trex composite decking material with a pressure treated rail and stairs. The final product is moisture resistant, can be pressure washed and has a 25-Year Limited Residential Warranty. The homeowner can rest assured that his backyard investment is well protected for years to come.

Slight change in this floor plan made a big difference. Refrigerator replaced the pantry which replaced a desk while stealing space from the laundry room behind it. This gave way to a lot of counter-space and nice symmetry on the main wall. Custom cabinetry in a custom client selected color, 3D style subway tile, and brass finishes are a few special features in this remodel. Bookcase replaced an unused fireplace for great display and storage space.

For 2 tweenagers, K. Rue Designs curated this space for creativity and major sleepovers to sleep around 14 girls! Lots of pink and light green invite the most fun and sweet little ladies to hang out in this space that was unused. A chalkboard wall in the back of the space warms the white craft table and chairs to let thoughts flow freely on the wall. A sleeper sofa and fold-out mattress chairs provide sufficient sleeping accommodations for all the girls friends. Even a family chair was incorporated as extra seating with colorful fabric to give it new youthful life. Artwork full of imagination adorns the walls in clear acrylic displays. Built in cabinetry along the side of the room houses an under-counter beverage refrigerator and full-sized mattress.

The Craftsman's style inspiration derived from the Gamble House. The fireplace wall was decreased in size for an open-concept spacious grand room. The custom stained cabinetry graciously flows from the kitchen, laundry room, hall, and primary bathroom. Two new hutches were added to the dining room area for extra storage. The sizeable wet island serves as an entertaining hub. We spared no unused space to accommodate the families' needs. Two-tone quartz countertops provide a transitional design. The quartz white countertops serve as a grout-free backsplash.

A formerly unused corner now houses china cabinets and a small wine fridge. Tall cabinets on each side of the fridge are pulled to 27" deep to surround the full-depth, french door fridge.

In this project we blew out a wall and expanded the laundry room space into the unused portion of the clients 3.5 gar garage. This created a massive space where you can store your shoes and coats, and do the laundry in pure comfort. They now have an abundance of storage space for all things from detergents, to flip flops, and everything in between. Starmark Cabinetry was used in this project, the flooring is porcelain, counters are quartz, and back splash is carrera marble. Gr8 Kitchens is a StarMark cabinetry authorized dealer.

The design of this Milwaukee bathroom remodel fits this 1930s home with a built-in linen cabinet, a leaded glass window, 3 arched doorways, and historic trim, doors and door knobs. This 1930s bathroom remodel in Milwaukee’s Story Hill neighborhood includes accessibility features including grab bars, a walk-in shower and a handheld showerhead. The goals of this project: + Maintain the historic charm of the 1930s bathroom + Design with accessibility features for aging in place Highlights of this Milwaukee Bathroom Remodel: Walk-In Shower & Bathtub – The homeowners wanted their bathroom to include accessibility features. We added grab bars and reinforced some areas for future grab bars if needed. The walk-in shower has a minimal threshold and a handheld showerhead for easy use. Heated Floors & Built-In Linen Cabinet – A built-in linen cabinet had been deteriorating over the years and was partly unusable because of the radiator being in the way. We removed the radiator and installed electric floors as the heat source. We also refaced, painted and added roll outs behind the bottom doors of the cabinet. New Vanity – The homeowners needed more storage and countertop space so we replaced the pedestal sink with a vanity. A traditional style faucet fixture looks similar to what you would have originally seen in this 1930s home. The countertop is quartz that looks like a classic marble without the maintenance of marble. A traditional profile edge gives it an elevated look. A new medicine cabinet over the sink also provides storage in a bathroom the entire family uses. Arched Doorways – This bathroom features three arched doorways – one in the entryway, one over the bathtub and one near the toilet. Our team carefully worked around the arches, as It was important to keep these architectural elements. Tilework – The patterned floor tile is a fresh take on the traditional black and white historical bathrooms. It pairs seamlessly with the traditional subway tile walls and hexagon shower floor tile. Historic Design Elements – Custom doors and trim match the existing in the home, as well as door knobs. It was important to salvage and clean up the leaded glass window and keep the existing arches. Bead board walls, cabinet hardware and overhead lighting were carefully selected to fit the period of the home.

We installed Versa Lok Mosaic retaining walls and 95 Borgert Step Units to wind down to this previously unusable space along the lakeshore. The patio provides a place to enjoy the lake with wood burning fireplace to take the chill off.

Our clients already had a cottage on Torch Lake that they loved to visit. It was a 1960s ranch that worked just fine for their needs. However, the lower level walkout became entirely unusable due to water issues. After purchasing the lot next door, they hired us to design a new cottage. Our first task was to situate the home in the center of the two parcels to maximize the view of the lake while also accommodating a yard area. Our second task was to take particular care to divert any future water issues. We took necessary precautions with design specifications to water proof properly, establish foundation and landscape drain tiles / stones, set the proper elevation of the home per ground water height and direct the water flow around the home from natural grade / drive. Our final task was to make appealing, comfortable, living spaces with future planning at the forefront. An example of this planning is placing a master suite on both the main level and the upper level.
