Dining room - coastal dining room idea

恵まれた眺望を活かす、開放的な 空間。 斜面地に計画したRC+S造の住宅。恵まれた眺望を活かすこと、庭と一体となった開放的な空間をつくることが望まれた。そこで高低差を利用して、道路から一段高い基壇を設け、その上にフラットに広がる芝庭と主要な生活空間を配置した。庭を取り囲むように２つのヴォリュームを組み合わせ、そこに生まれたL字型平面にフォーマルリビング、ダイニング、キッチン、ファミリーリビングを設けている。これらはひとつながりの空間であるが、フロアレベルに細やかな高低差を設けることで、パブリックからプライベートへ、少しずつ空間の親密さが変わるように配慮した。家族のためのプライベートルームは、2階に浮かべたヴォリュームの中におさめてあり、眼下に広がる眺望を楽しむことができる。

Inspiration for a mid-sized timeless ceramic tile mudroom remodel in Salt Lake City with beige walls

A new home can be beautiful, yet lack soul. For a family with exquisite taste, and a love of the artisan and bespoke, LiLu created a layered palette of furnishings that express each family member’s personality and values. One child, who loves Jackson Pollock, received a window seat from which to enjoy the ceiling’s lively splatter wallpaper. The other child, a young gentleman, has a navy tweed upholstered headboard and plaid club chair with leather ottoman. Elsewhere, sustainably sourced items have provenance and meaning, including a LiLu-designed powder-room vanity with marble top, a Dunes and Duchess table, Italian drapery with beautiful trimmings, Galbraith & Panel wallcoverings, and a bubble table. After working with LiLu, the family’s house has become their home. ---- Project designed by Minneapolis interior design studio LiLu Interiors. This modern home, near Cedar Lake, built in 1900, was originally a corner store. A massive conversion transformed the home into a spacious, multi-level residence in the 1990’s. However, the home’s lot was unusually steep and overgrown with vegetation. In addition, there were concerns about soil erosion and water intrusion to the house. The homeowners wanted to resolve these issues and create a much more useable outdoor area for family and pets. Castle, in conjunction with Field Outdoor Spaces, designed and built a large deck area in the back yard of the home, which includes a detached screen porch and a bar & grill area under a cedar pergola. The previous, small deck was demolished and the sliding door replaced with a window. A new glass sliding door was inserted along a perpendicular wall to connect the home’s interior kitchen to the backyard oasis. The screen house doors are made from six custom screen panels, attached to a top mount, soft-close track. Inside the screen porch, a patio heater allows the family to enjoy this space much of the year. Concrete was the material chosen for the outdoor countertops, to ensure it lasts several years in Minnesota’s always-changing climate. Trex decking was used throughout, along with red cedar porch, pergola and privacy lattice detailing. The front entry of the home was also updated to include a large, open porch with access to the newly landscaped yard. Cable railings from Loftus Iron add to the contemporary style of the home, including a gate feature at the top of the front steps to contain the family pets when they’re let out into the yard.
