Designing a whole home remodel for a client’s second home was an exciting opportunity to create a space that felt both welcoming and timeless. The clients wanted a space that felt light, bright, and timeless. We focused on an open-concept layout, maximizing natural light and incorporating soft, neutral tones that complemented the desert landscape. The main showstopper of the home was the kitchen, which the family considered the heart of the home. Featuring high-end finishes, the kitchen became a space for both cooking and gathering, designed for both functionality and elegance. Thoughtful touches, such as custom cabinetry, integrated appliances, and custom hood, helped elevate the entire space, making it a true focal point. With a thoughtful blend of modern design and classic touches, the remodel was tailored to ensure the space could grow with the family and become a place they would cherish and enjoy for years to come.

When our clients approached us to renovate their 1950s Newfoundland home, their goal was to modernize while reflecting both their West Coast roots and current East Coast lifestyle. What began as a simple ensuite repair expanded into a full home transformation, completed in two thoughtfully phased renovations. Drawing from our cross-coastal experience—and a personal connection to the home’s past—we blended classic East Coast charm with West Coast simplicity. Northern Michigan summers are best spent on the water. The family can now soak up the best time of the year in their wholly remodeled home on the shore of Lake Charlevoix. This beachfront infinity retreat offers unobstructed waterfront views from the living room thanks to a luxurious nano door. The wall of glass panes opens end to end to expose the glistening lake and an entrance to the porch. There, you are greeted by a stunning infinity edge pool, an outdoor kitchen, and award-winning landscaping completed by Drost Landscape. Inside, the home showcases Birchwood craftsmanship throughout. Our family of skilled carpenters built custom tongue and groove siding to adorn the walls. The one of a kind details don’t stop there. The basement displays a nine-foot fireplace designed and built specifically for the home to keep the family warm on chilly Northern Michigan evenings. This 1970 original beach home needed a full remodel. All plumbing and electrical, all ceilings and drywall, as well as the bathrooms, kitchen and other cosmetic surfaces.
