Timeline Design + Build
Architects, Architecture Firms, & Building Designers in Menlo Park
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsSeptember 22, 2012
Timeline Design designed and build our 6,000 sq ft house. They took our ideas and made them better. As the project progressed they improved the design and solved problems as the reality of the construction unveiled ways to make it better or address issues. This was done as a matter of course, not as a way to jack up the price through change orders. Most of these changes did, in fact, not change the price. Some did require extra or different materials or effort but these only added T&M charges. We are still delighted with our house 7 years after it was completed. Timeline Design still sends people out to fix or address any issues we have as they arise. Timeline Design is an honest, committed and talented designer/builder. I can't recommend them high enough!

Mehran is extremely knowledgeable from a design, cost, and feasibility perspective. I worked with Mehran on a complete teardown/rebuild of an existing single family home to a 90% new home. The main factors I needed addressed were cost concerns while keeping the best design and functionality for resale. Mehran gave insightful opinion and pointed out issues I had not and was not able to spot due to my relative unfamiliarity. His years of experience allows him insight on issues from both a building and cost perspective that would otherwise go unnoticed. Highly recommended.
Dotter & Solfjeld Architecture + Design
Architects, Architecture Firms, & Building Designers in Menlo Park
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsNovember 1, 2012
We worked with Dotter & Solfjeld most recently to design an Italian villa on a hillside in Saratoga, CA. This was actually our third project together as they worked on an expansion and remodel of our previous house in Palo Alto as well. As soon as we bought the lot in Saratoga Russ and Wencke, of D&S, began studying the landscape, spending significant time at different points in the day to intimately understand the light, the views and the flow of the hillside. Russ and Wencke are experts at both exterior and interior architecture and design, and they are an amazing team! Once they felt they knew the property, they spent time with us to understand what we liked and disliked and then began designing our house based largely on Italian building principles of thick walls and simple, yet elegant, construction. D&S involved us in every step of the process and ensured we were completely comfortable with each phase of the design before moving forward. They totally went above and beyond the call of duty by diligently working with our planning department and even one neighbor. They were our advocates with the City and were clearly extremely well respected by everybody they interfaced with. During the building process, D&S worked closely with our contractor and foreman to ensure that the project ran smoothly and stayed on budget. Often times, there is tension between architects and contractors, but our contractor loved working with D&S. Some of our friends have also used D&S to design ultra modern homes...D&S is super versatile and we unequivocally and enthusiastically recommend them.
John Lum Architecture, Inc. AIA

We used John Lum Architecture for the complete remodel of ~1000 sq ft in San Francisco. John and team were fantastic to work with. Very creative yet good at listening to our thoughts and integrating our ideas. They understand how to both design a gorgeous contemporary space while still keeping it comfortable and livable. We depended on them with a lot of design detail recommendations such as fixtures, paint, tiles and they always had great suggestions that made the process much simpler and easy to manage. They are very professional, extremely responsive and timely. There were no surprises during the entire process including on deadlines and budgets. I would strongly recommend them.
Edmonds + Lee Architects
Architects, Architecture Firms, & Building Designers in Menlo Park
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsApril 1, 2015
We hired Edmonds + Lee for a major interior remodel of a 4,000 square foot home in Pacific Heights in San Francisco, including the addition of a roof deck. The work started in 2013 and lasted about 18 months. We interviewed 7 other architects as well, and chose Edmonds + Lee with no hesitation because we were very impressed by the strong interest they showed in the project, even at the early stage when our ideas on the scope of the project itself were still forming, and because they had a clear design aesthetic that was very close to our sensibility. Both Robert Edmonds and Vivian Lee were heavily involved in the project, as was Eddy Joaquim, who also played a key role in the day to day managing of the project. Vivian had great input in the interior decoration as well. We cannot say enough good things about all of them. They helped us develop our vision for the house, and provided an excellent interface between our vision and the builders’ implementation. Their structured and methodical attention to detail throughout the process gave us enormous confidence—we knew that even if we missed something, they would not. Edmonds + Lee were also excellent at maintaining clear communication with us and the contractors, setting realistic expectations on timelines and budgets, which helped make us feel in control of the project. They were able to come up with design solutions that truly transformed the feel of the house—in our case restructuring the main hallway entrance and creating the stairs access to the roof deck are probably the best examples. We have worked with architects before (in London) and never been disappointed, but this is definitely the best experience we have had. We would definitely choose Edmonds + Lee again for any future project. Working with Edmonds + Lee puts a mark on your house with a clear unifying sense of design that runs through the residence, creating a space with clean modern lines which is at the same time warm and welcoming—exactly what we were after.

Several years ago, we hired Ellis Schoichett of EASA Architecture to draw up plans for a whole house remodel of our smaller, older home. Best decision ever! Twelve years later, and I still get a thrill walking through the front door. He turned our house into a home and the home he created for us, has given us years of pleasure. I recommend him highly.
HomeTech Construction & Design

My kitchen now looks beautiful and new again, I hired HomeTech to remodeled my kitchen counter tops and my faucet, they were very helpful and got the work done professionally and fast, they even replaced a piece of wood that the pipe with a leak got very wet and humid. The communication with them was very fast and convenient. I am a very curios person so I asked several questions and they were very open to answered them all. Very satisfied and happy with my new kitchen.
Stoecker and Northway Architects, Inc.
Architects, Architecture Firms, & Building Designers in Menlo Park
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsJune 2, 2014
We engaged Stoecker and Northway for work on a whole home remodel. The project included moving several walls, and completely gutting and rebuilding 2 bathrooms, the kitchen, and 3 closets. Jim Stoecker provided valuable insights on the project requirements, timelines, and a general sense of the expenses to expect. He also helped us identify ways to create more space within the existing footprint of the house, allowing us to create a small laundry room in the house (previously in the detached garage). We were thrilled with all aspects of working with Jim, and would strongly recommend him to anyone with large construction projects.
modern house architects

We have a mid-century modern house that we wanted to remodel. It took quit a few tries to find an architect who "gets it." Curt Cline from Modern House took our mid- century modern and made it current with out loosing the original charm. It's like the way the house should of been built in the beginning. Curt listened to what we wanted and came back with a design that far exceeded our imagination. With the other architects we felt we would have to educate ourselves, design what we wanted and just have them draw up the plans. Curt's been a dream to work with, he worked with us patiently through all are questions and ideas. We worked out all the little details and have a final plan. As soon as spring comes we will start our remodel. Can't Wait. Chris DeBruine

It has always been a pleasure working with the entire TRG team. They assemble professional drawings and go the extra mile to create custom designs with each client. The thought put into every detail makes for a very special finished project, which is something every contractor should appreciate. We are looking forward to showcasing a few of our current projects soon! -Matt
