“Residing in my house since 1989, I have undertaken several remodeling projects over the years – both interior and exterior. When I decided my front and back landscaping needed a major facelift, I contacted several landscape professionals to discuss design and cost. I first met with Omar from Habitat & Devries after receiving a reference from a friend whom Omar had worked with on a design/build project. Based on his approach, artistic sense and his commitment and oversight of the project as a design/build professional, I engaged Omar. He did not disappoint! Although several years have passed since the initial design and implementation, I have further engaged Omar on multiple occasions to modify my landscaping to keep the garden looking its best and to accommodate changes in my priorities. What sets Omar above the rest: • Omar brought his artistic eye and hands-on approach to my garden. Unlike a landscape architect/designer who develops the plans and hands them off to a landscape contractor to implement, Omar was always available to make adjustments to plantings or placement of hardscape elements to better fit the project as it evolved. • Omar successfully implemented the intricate challenge of interweaving the existing mature trees and established plantings I wanted to keep with new and updated elements – plantings and hardscape. The result is a unified, aesthetically pleasing landscape which has become more interesting and complex over time. • Components of the implementation process that I fully appreciated then and now include: > Omar’s willingness to collaborate with me on hardscape elements and plant choices. If my choices did not fit with his vision of the project, Omar respectfully would explain why. > The project sight was always left clean at the end of the day – swept and tools put away out of sight. > After the rain in 2023, it is obvious my drainage works perfectly. I have had no blockages or pooling of water. Ultimately, Omar and his outfit demonstrate knowledge, expertise and attention to detail infused with artistry and a gentle mannered hand. “Paul's work in our backyard was very well done. He communicated with us regularly. He immediately sent someone back for a small adjustment to sprinkler work when we asked. The work was to take out an old backyard lawn and install a new one. The new lawn was smaller than the old one to save some water. We additionally had Paul and his guys build 4 raised garden beds to our measurements and add PVC sprinkler lines to them with the plan being that I would create the drip line irrigation when I was ready to plant. Again, Paul's was very good. Only a short year or two earlier, a different contractor had needed to modify an edge of the grass when he installed a split-rail fence. The lawn border was very crooked. Paul's guys did a great job of making better lines all the way around the new lawn, including a better job on that previously messed up edge. The raised beds are very nicely done. It was easy for me to put in my drip line when I was ready. I would both recommend Paul's team's work and I may very well use them again someday.”
