New & Custom Home Builders Near Marmora

“We moved into our "Ponderosa Pine" model in March 2023 (about ten months after signing a contract). Since then, scarcely a day has passed that we haven't given thought to the attractiveness and functionality of design and quality of construction of the home that Stephen Tobey and his employees and sub-contractors built for us. We particularly appreciated his willingness to collaborate with us in customising the design so as to achieve an modern "Craftsman" look with high flat ceilings and plenty of natural light. It was a long-time desire of ours to live in a brick and stone-clad house and here again, with their proposed design colours and execution, Stephen and his masons absolutely delighted us. What's more, the Tobey-built homes around us are equally attractive and combine to form the most visually appealing neighbourhood in which we have ever lived. Stephen's mechanical engineering background and extensive building experience including a long-time concern with energy efficiency are evident in the economical and trouble-free performance of the house's mechanical systems. Fit and finish approach perfection - we have yet to identify a flaw or deficiency of any significance. During construction and since, as we have observed the rise of other Tobey homes around us, we have conversed with many of the on-site tradesmen and other capable people involved. Invariably, they have been friendly, from the local area, dedicated to quality, and proud of their work. They have earned our respect for their commitment, admiration of their talent, and appreciation for the care they apply to the creation of a built environment that will last and please its residents for generations to come. We could not be happier with our purchase. Thank you Gordon Tobey Developments Ltd.!”

“Steve of Nest Design and Contracting has singlehandedly restored my faith in humanity. My family and I have worked with many contractors on house renovation/building projects, and Steve is by far the most capable person we've worked with. We met Steve in 2020, and the first project we worked on together was a tricky basement remodel (framing, insulation, drywall, windows). He approached the challenge with curiosity, dug deep to understand our motivations, constraints, budget, and desired outcomes. He then researched potential solutions and found a modern custom solution to a technical house construction problem that checked all our boxes. He put together comprehensive work orders and estimates that were straightforward and detailed. He scheduled and executed the work quickly and efficiently. When there were design choices to be made or tradeoffs to be considered he consulted with us as to our preferences, offered options and his recommendation. The quality of the finished job was impeccable, on time, and on budget. We were hooked. We've worked on several more projects with Steve: adding a bathroom (framing, drywall, tile, shower enclosure installation), decks, interior and exterior staircases, fireplace surround with custom clay finish, window wells, foundation parging, baseboards and more. When we do come across some specialty that isn't yet in his wheelhouse (like plumbing or electrical) Steve gives referrals to equally capable people. We feel so lucky to have found Steve. He is the contractor friend we always wished we had. One who listens to our dreams and hopes and helps us figure out what we actually want, how to get it done (and then does it.) It's so refreshing to work with him. I know this is a relationship that is gonna last. Can't recommend Nest Design enough.”

“The major renovation of our summer home could not have turned out better. We knew the place had potential but were still stunned to walk in upon completion. Alair, and in particular, our project manager Simon, was amazing. The key difference compared to other contractors was responsiveness. So often, contractors drop the ball on the details - with Alair, this is where they excelled. No matter how small the detail, they were back in the house fixing/completing things until it was 100 percent to our liking. Call-backs were prompt, budget complications (of which there are always some) were handled professionally, and they were up front and honest at all stages of the project. Thank you Alair and thank you Simon for going the extra mile (or ten)!! Ryan and Sylvia”
