“When we recently moved into our new home, the garden looked tired and uninspiring. Planting was around the periphery in shallow, sparsely populated edge borders. In the past, our approach has been to go to a big DIY store, randomly buy plants, bring them home and have no idea where to put them! It’s not a big garden, and our budget was limited, but this time we felt we wanted to do something better, and after researching various garden designers, we contacted Ruth. From the very first call, we felt very comfortable with our choice. Ruth was straight-talking about how she worked with clients and how her approach enabled us to both understand the costs and charges and, just as importantly for us, control them. It has been an absolute pleasure working with Ruth. Ruth listens to what we want and incorporates surprising detail from our initial design consultations into her designs. More than that, and despite the tight budget, Ruth has helped us source materials and provided invaluable advice on landscaping and overcoming the inevitable challenges that crop up during the build. We do not doubt that Ruth has enabled us to achieve a layout that both looks stunning and works for us. “Terrey designed both our front and back gardens in a 1930s house in suburban Bristol. Throughout the prrocess she was calm and professional listening to our ideas and opinions, and discussing changes as the works progressed. The back garden works had to be coordinated around another contractor who was building our extension. This was effectively managed by the Outerspace team. The landscaping team were always polite, considerate and worked well together despite some very challenging wet winter weather. The site was left clean each day and was thoroughly cleaned at the end of the project. The plants were well chosen by Terrey who listened to our preferences. The back garden was finished nearly a year ago and we are delighted with how it has stood up to last year's hot, dry summer (2025) and then this year's wet winter (2025/6).”
