Featured Reviews for Landscape Architects and Designers in Knoxville, TN
Carex Design Group
Landscape Architects and Designers in Knoxville, TN
"Robert created an overall plan for our backyard that included special requirements for drainage and our own personal wish list. We have implemented stage one which is the hardscape design and setting the beds into place. He made excellent recommendations on who to hire for this stage and now we will continue to follow the plan over the next year to complete the project. Robert was excellent to work with and we are very pleased with the professional services he provided. Danni Varlan"

The Easy Gardener
Landscape Architects and Designers in Knoxville, TN
"Clint did a great job with our landscaping, stone patio and fire pit projects. He was great to work with, very knowledgeable and professional, and gave us several suggestions and options (that were much better than what we had thought of) and different plans to choose from at the outset with different budgets. He was very responsive, met deadlines and completed the projects with high quality work and materials within budget (and even added some extra features). We are very happy with the quality of the work and Clint was very easy to work with through the process."

Garry Menendez Landscape Architecture

"I have known Garry Menendez for more then 15 years, and I have seen first hand the numerous landscape architectural designs he has created. Without a doubt, Garry has an amazing eye to capture the natural surroundings of a landscape, and is able to creatively bring out the best potentials in all his designs. I have been so impressed with Garry's designs, I sought his services to design the landscape for two of my homes. I have also referred him to several close friends because I know they would be happy with his fantastic design work, professionalism, and integrity!"

"The Lawn Butler Hardscape crews has built several projects for us since our business started in 2014. Projects have included pergolas, pavers, retaining walls and irrigation. The crews are always accommodating, very professional and they pay attention to our design ideas and work hard to execute them. Our current project with them includes Belgard Tandem Walls, a flagstone patio and two very unique water features that are sure to be impressive."

Acadia Landscape Company
Landscape Architects and Designers in Knoxville, TN
"I have been highly remiss in not providing information on the services I received from Acadia Landscaping this past spring (~end of March through April). But it has also allowed me to have a 5-month long evaluation period to live with the final product. The conclusion is that Phil and his crew built a 568 sq. ft. brick paver patio for us that is highly functional, yet it also qualifies as a work of art. Phil was very thorough in determining the configuration we desired and the materials we wanted to use. We settled on small brick pavers and he developed a finished design that is reflective of what we hoped to achieve. One aspect that I love is that the patio looks as if it was built when the house was built because of the excellent integration with the surrounding structure and environment. The patio butts up against two cement pads for two different rear entrances and with a screened porch on one side, and a five-foot retaining wall on the other. It includes precisely cut brick sections surrounded by bricks laid in a circular pattern around each section. Also, we wanted the patio to include a pergola on which to grow a 12-year old trumpet vine. The pergola measures 10 ft. tall by 6 ft. wide by 4 ft. deep. I picked the design out on the internet after looking at over 500 examples and images. We had a number of delays because of spring rain totals that were way beyond the norm, but Phil managed to schedule his guys between the rainier days to start and keep the job on an acceptable pace. Acadia did not employ mere laborers for this work; it was obvious that this was a crew of craftsmen and artisans. Their attention to detail and the preciseness of their work methods was on display throughout the job. They used a high-speed saw to cut the bricks after they were laid, and the results are unique and highly pleasing to the eye. Also they did a thorough clean up job and y refilled the tracks in the yard from the bulldozer. The grass they planted grew very well with weekly watering and is still in good shape, even after the hot summer months this year. I could not be happier about the final product. Phil designed the patio to flow all water away from the house when it rains. It drains very effectively even In downpours, and we?ve had many this year. Also, I?m a gardener and grow many plants from seed in ornamental pots every spring. I?ve had a chance to integrate all kinds of potted annuals and wild flowers of various types throughout the patio. The combination of the patio and these many plants is stunning. I also can?t believe the great job they did with the pergola ? again, another work of art. It is built with timbers that are not dark and thick, but instead light and sleeker than most other pergolas I have seen. It is structurally sound and the overall effect is almost oriental in appearance. I?m still astounds me that Phil could take a 2-inch by 1-inch image of a pergola and have his crew faithfully reproduce it. My trumpet vine has had a great year growing over the top of the pergola and I used the lattice sides to grow other types of vines and prop up my sun flowers . Every time someone visits who has not been to our house since the patio was built, they rave over it. In fact, we always end up sitting outside because it draws people to do so. Unlike past summers on our screened porch (not enough breezes since it?s against the house), we have sat out 2 out of every 3 evenings this summer. It helps that the northeast side of the patio is shady by ~5:30 pm and there is typically a breeze. I always recommend Acadia to everyone who inquires and will continue to do so. I would hire Phil and his crew anytime I needed landscaping-related work. They are excellent. Do's Use a can of spray paint to outline of the patio you desire. This approach ensures that everyone's on the same page relative to expectations and the final product. If your plan includes cutting brick, move all plants and other items away from the work area. When high-speed saws cut brick, the dust goes everywhere and coats everything in the vicinity. ."

Wildwood Land Design
Landscape Architects and Designers in Knoxville, TN
"We hire Wildwood Land Design to develop a phased landscape plan that included water run-off corrections and measures that would redirect water away from our house. Bob Graves produced a solid plan for dealing with the water issues as well as a landscape plan that we could implement over time. To date, we have implemented the first couple of phases of the plan with Wildwood performing the majority of the work. Additionally, Wildwood has reworked portions of our irrigation system that needed attention. The crew is always professional and dependable. Kudos to Wildwood for their quality design, work and crew. I would highly recommend Wildwood Land Design."

Black Willow Design
Landscape Architects and Designers in Knoxville, TN
"We consulted with Black Willow Design to get their thoughts and recommendations on dealing with drainage issues in our yard. It was important to us to address the issues in an ecologically sustainable way while being esthetically pleasing to us and our neighbors and attractive to bees, butterflies and birds. We found the professionals at Black Willow to be extremely knowledgable and very willing to listen to our needs and ideas and to incorporate them when possible into the design they presented us. The overall costs of the project was well within our budget and when completed fell below the final estimate quoted to us and within the stated time frame. In working with the team we found them to be very informative regarding the stages and all the crew members were very personable and worked meticulously. The outcome far exceeded our expectations and we have received nothing but praise and admiration from our neighbors and friends. Two of our friends subsequently have contracted with Black Willow for projects on their properties. The professionals at Black Willow design have continued to follow-up with us, visiting regularly to insure the project was serving it's purpose and to monitor the plant growth"

What does a landscape architect do?

The work of this outdoor professional includes most everything surrounding a home's exterior. A landscaping architect can even work with the home architect to choose the right spot for your Knoxville, TN house. From there the Knoxville landscaper will develop preliminary concepts for your front or backyard design based on individual needs including the climate and activities that will take place, as well as layouts and planting plans. Landscape architects will also design any structures or outbuildings that will be added to the space. Any grading changes that will be added to the yard are also the responsibility of the architect. This includes any drainage modifications. An engineer can also be responsible for these tasks, but licensed Tennessee landscapers are fully capable. Like building architects, they will produce preliminary concept drawings as well as detailed construction documents and planting plans. Three-dimensional renderings and illustrative plans are all supplementary.

What does a landscape designer do?

A Knoxville landscaping designer generally will have ecological, aesthetic and technical training, which helps them maximize the potential of your outdoor space. Keeping in mind both style and functionality, garden designers analyze your architecture and yard to produce a plan that may or may not include location and materials for walkways, patios, water features, fences, garden aspects and more. In addition, a landscaper in Knoxville, TN will carefully assess your geographic region to choose plants, trees and flowers that will flourish naturally, as well as address concerns such as drainage, screening and soil conditions. Certain landscape designers only help with the planning portion, while some may deliver the plans and then oversee a hired landscaping contractor. Others — typically following a design-build approach — take care of both the design and all aspects of the landscape architecture and construction.

Before you hire a Tennessee professional landscaper, consider the scope and emphasis of your outdoor project. Landscape architects, who typically hold advanced degrees in their field, are trained to develop comprehensive structural plans that include plants, hardscaping, water use, drainage and more. Landscape designers typically specialize in the aesthetic and horticultural, rather than structural, side of yard and garden planning. They might or might not have advanced training. Even within their fields, a garden designer may specialize in hardscape- or vegetation-focused designs. In some cases you might need to hire additional help to get the outdoor space you want. Here are some related professionals and vendors to complement the work of landscape architects & landscape designers: Landscape Contractors, Garden & Landscape Supplies, Tree Services, Gardeners, Lawn Care & Sprinklers, Decks, Patios & Outdoor Enclosures.
