Please help with Backsplash choice!

We'd like to "brighten" up our kitchen with a backsplash. The current cabinets, flooring, granite, and white appliances are staying for now! Please help! Also planning to paint up above cabinets- any suggestions? THANK YOU! I love this website! So many wonderful resources and talent! If you don't care for any of the above, please offer suggestions!
