As a Postal Clerk I can tell you that the flat rate boxes are $7.70 and yes, they are a good deal if what you are sending is heavy.

IF you have a digital scale at home I recommend taking the empty box, placing everything you plan to go inside and weighing it. If it weighs in more than the regular Priority boxes with shipping to the destined zone it is worth the Flat Rate box but if it is less than $7.70 go with the regular Priority box.

Confused yet?

Nope, that works for me. Am I correct in thinking (assuming) that both shapes are $7.70??
Thanks Kim

Yes, both shapes are $7.70. I have used these a couple of times now and they are great. I painted a 15lb rock and shipped it to NY and saved half the cost if I went with regular priority postage.

Ooh, thanks for the heads up.....I was shopping for my SP today wishing I could send some heavy things.....my SP is on the OTHER side of the country. I don't think I have seen that at my PO though.

Theresa, the Flat Rate box will be great for heavy things. Rebecca's 15 pound rock is a great example.
While living in AK I learned to be very aware of the weight on gifts that I sent to my grandkids. Not sure why the cute little things seem to be so heavy. Most of them are shipped here from oriental countries or Mexico so there must be cheap ways to ship them.
These boxes will give up a lot of new possibilities for our SP gifts. Wish I had found them year ago.

If they don't have them in stock at your local P.O., you can order them online through the P.O. website. They'll be delivered to your home for free.

I ordered some on each, haven't had the money to fill and send any for awhile.lol.Jody
