Hi Nik, I like either of these options from CB2.

If your apartment is ultra modern then nothing should go next to the tv, but it should be centered on the wall. For ultra modern or contemporary design, less is definitely more.

I can't make out the angled piece above the TV, is that a sloped ceiling? I agree with Bobbi to keep it minimal.

Thanks for the input. I don't want to center the tv. The console is going to be mounted where the blue chalk line is with high gloss white doors. Here is a photo so you can see extrusion from the wall. Thanks for the suggestions so far!

Interesting. Are you open to the idea of painting those angled surfaces instead of 'cluttering' up the TV wall?

@dytecture, Painting them is pretty cost prohibitive. The top of it is 30ft high at least. I am setting up a projector and projecting a form of the game asteroids on it. A developer buddy of mine is programming it, and we're going to either use a Microsoft Kinect or an old school nintendo blaster as the controller. Interactive decor!

I like the idea of putting something tall on the console. I don't want anything mounted to the wall next to it. A nice vase or plant might be the perfect solution.

I love the angled ceiling/wall fixture, and now that it I know it serves an interactive function to I love it even more! Looking at this space I actually like the asymmetry of the TV on the wall but the cabinet being on the floor and the visible wires and stuff spoil your minimalist contemporary look, imo.

I think a suspended (floating type) cabinet with doors would look much cleaner, here's an example

Also if you use bronze glass panels in the doors which have components, (or mesh fabric) you can still use IR equipment with the doors closed. (Switching to RF controller would enable you to move all of the components elsewhere too)

For an even cleaner look, perhaps consider a cabinet or furniture piece and use an automated life like this. Auton makes great hardware for this type of application.

I do also like Dar's suggestion of a tall slender vase or sculpture at the right of the TV to create a contrasting accent of color or texture.

@BeautifulRemodel.com I'm glad you like it. I have IR extenders I'm using. I went to run the cable for the TV yesterday, and there is a fire block in my way, so I'm waiting on a 90 degree bit to drill a hole in it. I have had some trouble mounting the cabinets, but it's happening this week one way or another!

Leave it where it is, hide the cabling. Maybe put a white casement around it.

I think a bright coloured vase with bamboo would look nice. Just make sure it's tall enough to even out the symmetry.

A large sculptured wall light (or floor lamp on the console) will cast wonderful shadowing to the extrusion without interfering with viewing.

I don't care what you do or don't put by the TV. I just want to see these panels all lit up!

Preferably, with video! :-)

What a great place for a minimalist modern wall art sculpture to add texture to this space of smooth surfaces. I love the clean lines and hope that hard wiring the tv is a win against the fire wall.

I would consider even doing a white on white verticals, textured, modern art or sculpture piece. I can't recommend art not knowing your personal style but attached thought provoking images.

I like the idea of shadow boxing / or low profile framing out the screen.

I look forward to seeing the direction you go!
