It has been awhile since I have read this thread. I love the new wall color! And I vote for the first set of light teal curtains, they look great. As to what is bothering you - probably the furniture. Try covering the dressers with a sheet or blanket to see if that eliminates your angst. If that's it, you can mentally choose to ignore the furniture until it is replaced.

Weirdness - I can't get rid of this pic and it "refused" to be put below! Idea for painting dresser.

A few months ago I bought white microfiber sheets at Target for a pretty decent price. If it's still too much, consider just buying white pillowcases for now.

White mirror - I think that if you incorporate more white into your decorating, i.e. the sheets, etc., it might not seem so out of place. Get a pretty vase in your accent color to place in front of it and to the side. If you go with table lamps, get a pretty base in your accent and stick with a white shade.

My bedroom is 10x10. I don't have that wall of closets but I know about close! Still, I have a wicker & iron dining chair. The nice thing about dining chairs is there are much smaller and pretty easy to move. Just a thought.

I have to say it - I'm not a fan of the chest and dresser together. If you can't do the tall chest on the window wall, have you considered eliminating the side table on that side of the bed and putting the chest there? It would require a wall lamp or standing lamp but visually it might not feel so heavy.

How wide is that wall between the closets? How much would the chest stick out on each side? If you put the chest beside the bed, you could probably put the end table here if you need more storage. Do you have a TV?

As for the furniture, I'll look around and see what I can find to post. I'm thinking that you should just paint the drawer fronts - big impact for little effort. You could go white for a modern feel but I don't think that's really what you're looking for. You could try the wall color, the main duvet color or stenciling. Do you have leftover wall paint? You could give it a little try - paint it, look at it in the room and, if you don't like it, give it a swipe with mineral spirits or something. But by just painting the fronts, you'd only have to pull them out, remove the knobs, give them a quick brush with fine sandpaper and then either roll, brush or spray your desired color. While you have the knobs off, switch them out with something else. THAT can get very expensive. If you like the knobs but not the finish, they can EASILY be spray painted. They've got so many kinds of that stuff now - metallic, accent color, drawer color, whatever...!

Artwork. Go to your local hobby store and buy a pack of art canvas. Acrylic paint is pretty cheap, especially when on sale. Get the colors from your bedspread. Get a household sponge or potatoes and cut into squares and work out some sort of design that goes with the bedspread. And anything you don't like can be painted over! OR...go to Walmart, or equivalent, and buy 4 cheat picture frames. You can spray paint the frames any color you want. Back to hobby store - buy scrapbooking paper in your colors and put them in the frame. With either technique, you can even leave one of the canvases/frames empty and paint with chalkboard paint. That way you can personalize your space with changing messages.

Are the doors on your closet wide enough to accommodate mirrors? You could buy 4 of those cheap ones from Walmart, framed in white (!), and attach them to the door fronts. That would help to balance the room. I think that's part of the problem for you. Everything is happening on the one side of the room and nothing on the other.

Sample paints are pretty inexpensive. You could try painting each drawer front a different color.

You could search for "dressers" on Pinterest but be prepared to be completely overwhelmed! For you, I'd start simple. Once done, you could go for more later if you wanted.

Yeah we definitely don't want to paint the closet doors and well the furniture seem like too expensive of a set 12 years ago to paint over it. I'm still trying to decide on which light to buy or put up and how do we hang our curtain rod. I'm due in 2.5 weeks and I'm feeling the pressure of getting my room just right before I totally run out if time :)

I know she doesn't want to paint the trim or closet doors but I was under the impression that the furniture is under consideration. She said something about replacing it in a year or so.... And the door mirrors can be attached with velcro. If she doesn't want to attach them, buy one and hang it on the wall between the closet doors. The room needs balance and the mirrors would accomplish that plus throw the light into the cave that is the other side of the bedroom. :)

On sale for $35 from Pier1. You can buy chrome spray paint to paint the knobs on your furniture to match. Although it's all white & silver, I think the shiny will really add to your room. The only worry would be if they clashed with your overhead light?!

OMG! You didn't mention that you were pregnant! Congrats! If you're not sold on the mirror, try painting your wedding picture frame white and hang it above your tall dresser. Then the mirror won't be alone. I would just pick a ceiling light and be done with it. You'll be much happier once you've made a decision. Tell your husband to hold the curtain rod up with curtains on it. Let it touch the carpet or be within .5-1" (as long as it doesn't puddle or hang more than a couple inches off the floor, you're good). Have a pencil in hand to mark a bracket hole on the wall and mark the same distance from the ceiling for the other bracket.

Once you're done hanging the curtains, ceiling light, mirror and picture, buy two table lamps with white shades and voila! You're done!

I like it but it doesn't sound like you're completely sold. If you can return it, I think it's worth at least trying the silver one (unless you've already painted your wedding pic white).

I actually prefer the white mirror that we have over this silver one from Ikea.

I didn't realize you were pregnant either. Congrats! That also might be part of the reason why you are having such a hard time making a decision. You're nesting so you're probably being more critical that you might otherwise be. :)

I'm getting used to the white mirror and I think once it is hung on the wall, instead of resting on the dresser, it will look much better. I also agree about putting a mat on your picture-I'd meant to say something before so I'm glad someone else brought it up. It would help reflect that white and would increase the size, which it needs. Same with the drapes- that's how I hung mine!

Lighting: you need to go fancy on the table lamps and plain on the ceiling or vice versa. Where do you want the bling? If you find a lamp- ceiling, table or wall- that you really like, pick something in the same color family for the other location but keep it simple. Your room is too small to have that many points of interest. Plus bedrooms need to be restful...not too many distractions.

Another idea for art is the wall decals - might also be good to keep in mind for the nursery. Here's a site that has a bunch and they aren't that expensive.

I think if you hang the curtains, get the white sheets, decide on a main accent color (maybe buy a couple of accent pillows or small throw), and buy either the ceiling or table lamp, you'll get a much better idea of what the bedroom will need down the road. Don't stress yourself out that much. Granted you are about to get really busy but enjoy this time.

I would take a very close look at the picture you have displayed under the cross and choose a blue shade that will harmonize with but is several shades lighter than the true blue in the picture. Then, I would use wall paint in this light blue. If you want real "punch" to the room, paint the ceiling the same kind of blue, but two to four shades darker than the blue you have on the walls. White-painted crown molding around the room will really set off two shades of blue in the décor. The picture above the bed will look lovely with the blue wall as the background. You might flank this picture with matching framed mirrors to take up the wall space above the bed.

As for the frame, I will be buying spray paint on Monday and painting it white. The picture is already a 16X20 and so it is near impossible to get a bigger frame and than a mat, unless I would get a smaller picture printed out and get a mat for this frame?

As for lamps for our night tables, should I get lamps or swing arm lamps on the wall?

As for my curtains, I really like the light colored ones in the previous picture, just seeing if I can find them with grommet instead, which doesn't look promising at the moment.

Looking through all this advice I will throw in my opinion...
I think your room is coming together and like the white mirror, ceiling light, and picture frame. I liked the lighter blue curtains.

Hang the mirror at eye level (57 to 65 inches from the center of the mirror to the floor depending how tall you are). Don't worry about the curtains not having grommets. You can always add them later (hire someone or DIY: http://www.createforless.com/buying-guides/crafts/curtain-grommets.aspx). You definitely don't need a mat for your wedding picture. I thought it was much smaller when I suggested the mat but it was dwarfed by the massive and otherwise empty wall behind your bed. The lamps are more of a personal preference IMO. Either will look great. Also probably depends on what you can find. If you decide on swing arm, get one with a black/iron base.

I'd replace the shade but it should still come out cheaper than the same light with a white shade.

I understand about the frame. We As er612 said above, moving it to the smaller wall changes the scale issue. Mirror-you don't want a huge space between the dresser and mirror but a little will let the mirror shine on its own (pun intended!).

Im unsure what ceiling light you are looking at. Is it the flowery peachy one? If so, the bedspread and mirror are all wrong. It's pretty morrocan - neither rustic nor modern. You'd need to change the mirror to something iron and a plain, maybe damask type duvet in order to showcase the light, which is pretty.. Maybe that is why the black lamp was suggest? Otherwise, not such a good choice because that part of the bedroom is pretty dark. No natural light and the furniture also sucks up light.

Your bedspread is light and modern, your furniture is medium and rustic and sets the theme by sheer volume. Going lighter might be a better way to balance it...chrome, squares, white/lights, etc. Light-colored fixtures will draw the eye into that alcove where everything is. Try a white/chrome lamp and black lamp against each other and see which one appeals. Taste is subjective. I'm a Libra so making decisions is a process for me - I totalling understand how hard this is for you.

I hate myself for asking this but how much do you love your bedspread? Maybe that is the problem? I LOVE, love, love the wall color but maybe you need to see about duvet options. I checked on Ikea - I have a $20 duvet from there - but none of the colors/patterns work in your room unless you just went white.The white one actually wouldn't be a bad idea if you were going with the peachy light. That would leave you to get some pillows and a throw that are peach and teal.

So....morrocan, modern or rustic. You've unfortunately got all of these going on so you probably need to figure out what your style is before you make yourself crazy. Sorry I ramble - I call it writing out loud.. :)

Their prices are really reasonable, aren't they? Did you see the table lamps? I thought this was a nice neutral one that would go well with the ceiling lamp. I noticed the ceiling lamp is silver....

For a lamp that is much like the ceiling, there's this one. It's really pretty but I'm not sure about that shade. I like the crystal pulls and I think the color would be pretty with the bedspread but I think the heavy white shade on the above lamps as well as the more substantial silver bases, is probably better, especially for contrast. But it's worth mentioning.... :)

This is really about personal taste. I looked at the link you gave and didn't find much of anything that appealed to me. I actually kinda liked that bold floral you posted above (from where?) but I'm a fan of contrasts. I could also see some really nice accents going with that. I am also thinking that these 2 bedspreads are SO different that your current choice is likely the reason you aren't feeling comfortable with the room. It's all muted and pastels and a simple pattern while this new look has that bright white (which you also chose for the mirror and ceiling light) and all that color.

Another option is to check out Wayfair. They have a lot of stuff. I've ordered from them before and they were really quick and responded when I had a problem. The link is sorted by blue but you can change that on the left.

amderk, I often check to see how your bedroom is coming along along and think you hit upon something earlier, that something didn't feel quite right and am glad you started looking at other duvets/comforters. What I think the problem has been all along is a competition between cool and warm colors. Simply, either change the cover to something that goes well with the warm wood or else paint all wood white to go with the cool colors of the current duvet. The simplest fix: change out the duvet---that one you posted with leaves on it, some of which are orange, will relate well to the warm, let's face it orange, wood! Maybe you won't have to repaint the walls. I hear ya about not wanting to paint the wood. -Congrats on the upcoming baby.

From what I can see, #1 is not lined, so the light comes through. #2 looks either lined or foam insulated, which would block out light. The color in #1 is better, but the light-blocking in #2 appeals to me. Either color works for me, although #1 is a better match.

I think, number 1 matches too well, and I like number 2 much better.

I prefer the first color that matches the wall color. It gives more of a calm feel.

Brown seems logical but I think the silver would be less noticeable.

In the photos (I looked up "grommet") the grommets matched the poles. But I am not sure I like black grommets with a non-dark curtain

If you want the rod in silver and can take it back, do it. Otherwise, the silver grommets will not be very noticeable and the brown rod will be a contrast to the walls. I think it will work either way. Besides, you may end up with brown in your duvet or lamps, etc., so it might still all work together regardless.

Now, quit stressing about it. :) You've got the paint right, as well as the curtains. You've got a start in the direction you want to go with the mirror and ceiling light. Eventually you'll want to change out the bedding - I say that mainly because you aren't as happy with the current one as you need to be - but it can wait. I'm betting that with your focus redirecting to your new little one, the changes you want to make in the bedroom will take on less importance, which will actually make it easier to make those decisions.
